Finally I could see this movie that I have been waiting for a long time, a movie that brings together a theme that I have always liked as they represent it in horror movies which is religion, in this film we see a different side of Sydney Sweeney who we recognize from roles like Cassie in Euphoria and in the recent movie called Anyone but you. In this horror movie we can see a radical change in her performance which is being praised by the critics, in it we can see that she is even being considered as one of the new scream queens of the horror world. Hola amantes del cine en esta preciosa comunidad de hive, espero estén muy bien el día de hoy. Por fin pude ver esta película que estuve esperando desde hace mucho tiempo, una película que reúne un tema que siempre me ha gustado como lo representan en las películas de terror el cual es la religión, en este film vemos una faceta diferente de Sydney Sweeney quien reconocemos de papeles como Cassie en Euphoria y en la reciente película llamada Anyone but you. En esta película de terror podemos ver un cambio radical en su actuación la cual está siendo alabada por la crítica, en ella podemos ver qué incluso la están considerando como una de las nuevas scream queens del mundo del terror. Let's talk a little about the plot, a woman named Cecilia, a devout religious woman decides to join a convent in the Italian countryside where she completely leaves her life behind and where she decides to serve God completely but once she arrives she begins to notice that the place hides some secrets and after a while she begins to think that maybe her arrival was not as unexpected as she thought.

The American film of psychological horror and mystery genre has a slightly reduced cast but abounds in acting quality, among the main characters we have Cecilia who is played by actress Sydney Sweeney, Father Sal Tedeschi who is played by actor Alvaro Morte, Mother Superior played by Dora Romano and Gwen which is played by Benedetta Porcaroli. Among some of the other actors that are part of this film are Giorgio Colangeli and Simona Tabasco. The combination of these great actors and actresses results in characters full of mystery that walk the corridors of that convent where our protagonist must discover the truth that hides those walls away from everything.

Hablemos un poco sobre la trama, una mujer llamada Cecilia devota religiosa decide unirse a un convento en la campiña italiana en donde deja completamente atrás su vida y en donde decide servir completamente a dios pero una vez llegada comienza a notar que el lugar oculta algunos secretos y después de un tiempo comienza a pensar que quizás su llegada era no fue tan inesperada como pensaba.

La película estadounidense de género terror psicológico y misterio cuenta con un reparto un poco reducido pero que abunda en calidad actoral, entre los personajes principales tenemos a Cecilia quien es interpretada por la actriz Sydney Sweeney, el Padre Sal Tedeschi quien es interpretado por el actor Álvaro Morte, la Madre Superiora interpretada por Dora Romano y Gwen la cual es interpretada por Benedetta Porcaroli. Entre algunos otros actores que forman parte de esta película tenemos a Giorgio Colangeli y a Simona Tabasco. La combinación de estos grandes actores y actrices nos da como resultado personajes llenos de misterio que recorren los pasillos de aquel convento en donde nuestra protagonista deberá descubrir la verdad que esconden aquellos muros alejados de todo.

Our Sydney Sweeney plays Cecilia who after having an accident as a child and having her heart stop for 7 seconds and start beating again thinks that God brought her back to life to fulfill a purpose, with this in mind she decides to go to Italy to a convent of nuns to serve God completely and to discover what is her true purpose on earth. When she arrives she finds everything fascinating but after some incidents with some nuns and in some secret places she decides to learn more about what is hidden in that Italian countryside without knowing that soon she will discover her purpose and why she is in that place.

It is available on the streaming platform Amazon Prime Video and Netflix, besides it is also available on any online movie site. Its duration is 1 hour and 29 minutes and it has a rating of +18 as it has scenes of violence, vulgar language, disturbing images and bloody content.

Nuestra Sydney Sweeney interpreta a Cecilia quien luego de tener un accidente cuando era niña y que su corazón se detuviera por 7 segundo y volviera a latir piensa que Dios la trajo de vuelva a la vida para cumplir un propósito, con esto en mente ella decide irse a Italia a un convento de monjas para servir completamente a Dios y para descubrir cuál es su verdadero propósito en la tierra. Al llegar encuentra todo fascinante pero luego de algunos incidentes con algunas monjas y en algunos lugares secretos decide conocer más sobre lo que se oculta en aquella campiña italiana sin saber que pronto descubrirá su propósito y el por qué está en aquel lugar.

Since the trailer of the movie came out, I really wanted to see it, we are in a time where multiple horror movies of different types are being developed and are being noticed for their visual and acting quality, I was also intrigued to know what the plot of this movie would be. I have always been attracted to horror films focused on religion where they show how sometimes people take very literally the writings in the bible or where they play at being god on earth, this film touches on an interesting topic and is about the idea of the Virgin Mary and the mystery of the birth of the child Jesus and how he was conceived miraculously only taking that story and turning it into what would happen when people desperately seek the coming of god to earth. Our protagonist faces a strange situation where they discover that she is pregnant with the detail that the baby is literally a miracle (or so they want us to think) and this is where little by little all the secrets that the place hides, from the strange attitudes of the nuns to the relics that are found in it, are unraveling.

The aesthetics of the film is spectacular (I always pay special attention to it in films and this was no exception), they show us some incredible scenarios where we can detail the beauty of the chapels, rooms and exteriors where all that Italian architecture full of details is preserved as well as religious details such as images of saints, bibles and rosaries are an essential part of the construction of religious aesthetics to get us even more in that environment that seems peaceful but in reality is full of fear, tears and sinners. I loved their aesthetics and the way they use religion not from hope but from perdition, they show that other side of religion that goes towards excessive fanaticism and I loved to see how each of the nuns seemed to be more than happy to be there but at the same time they were in constant suffering, praying and crying, asking perhaps for salvation or a miracle and as the film progresses we see that this miracle does happen but it is not all good.

Desde que salió el tráiler de la película tenía muchísimas ganas de verla, estamos en una época en donde se están desarrollando múltiples películas de terror de diferentes tipos y que se están haciendo notar por su calidad visual y actoral, igualmente me llenó de intriga el saber cuál sería la trama de esta película. Siempre me han llamado la atención las películas de terror enfocadas en la religión en donde muestran como a veces las personas toman muy literal los escritos en la biblia o en donde juegan a ser dios en la tierra, está película toca un tema interesante y es sobre la idea de la virgen María y el misterio del nacimiento del niño Jesús y como este fue concebido milagrosamente solo que tomando esa historia y convirtiéndola en que pasaría cuando las personas buscan desesperadamente la venida de dios a la tierra. Nuestra protagonista se enfrenta a una extraña situación en donde descubren que está embarazada con el detalle de que ese bebé literalmente es un milagro (o eso nos quieren hacer pensar) y aquí es donde poco a poco se van desenvolviendo todos los secretos que oculta el lugar, desde las extrañas actitudes de las monjas hasta las reliquias que se encuentran en el.

La estética de la película es espectacular (siempre presto especial atención a ella en las películas y ésta no fue la excepción), nos muestran unos escenarios increíbles en donde podemos detallar la bellezas de las capillas, las habitaciones y los exteriores en donde se preserva toda esa arquitectura italiana llena de detalles así como también los detalles religiosos como lo son las imágenes de santos, las biblias y los rosarios forman parte esencial de la construcción de la estética religiosa para meternos aún más en ese ambiente que parece de paz pero que en realidad está lleno de temor, lágrimas y pecadores. Me encantó su estética y la forma en la que usan la religión no desde la esperanza sino desde la perdición, muestran ese otro lado de la religión que va hacia el fanatismo desmedido y me encantó ver como cada una de las monjas parecían estar más que contentas de estar ahí pero a su vez estaban en constante sufrimiento, rezando y llorando, pidiendo quizás salvación o un milagro y a medida que avanza la película vemos que este milagro si ocurre pero no es del todo bueno.

The story develops magnificently as it starts showing you the devotion of the nuns, the delivery of the vows and the tasks they perform in the convent giving us the illusion of perfect peace and harmony but then they show us the true reality of that place, a place where if you disobey the orders of the church you will be harshly punished and isolated from others. Terror cannot be missing in these spaces, from the secret tortures to the strange practices that take place under the convent, the scare scenes are well placed and several of them manage to make you feel the tension of the supernatural of the whole thing with the pregnancy.

It was an incredible idea to explore the theme of the miraculous pregnancy since it has two particular ways in which the origin can be explained, one would go towards the human side and depravity and the other towards the supernatural side, this film manages to put together both answers and make the development that each time it was approaching the end was becoming more and more twisted, showing how far can escalate fanaticism and the need for answers, in this case, of a divine answer and also the need for the solution of the problems through a divinity.

La historia se desarrolla magníficamente ya que empieza mostrándote la devoción de las monjas, la entrega de los votos y las tareas que realizan en el convento dándonos la ilusión de perfecta paz y armonía pero luego nos muestran la verdadera realidad de aquel lugar, un espacio en donde si desobedeces las órdenes de la iglesia serás duramente castigado y aislado de los demás. El terror no puede faltar en estos espacios, desde las torturas en secreto hasta las extrañas prácticas que se realizan debajo del convento, las escenas de sustos están bien colocadas y varias de ellas logran hacerte sentir la tensión por lo sobrenatural de todo el asunto con el embarazo.

Fue una idea increíble el explorar el tema del embarazo milagroso ya que tiene dos formas particulares en la que se puede explicar el origen, una se iría hacia el lado humano y la depravación y el otro hacia el lado sobrenatural, está película logra juntar ambas respuestas y hacer el desarrollo que cada que se iba aproximando al final iba siendo más y más retorcido, mostrando hasta donde puede escalar el fanatismo y la necesidad de respuestas, en este caso, de una respuesta divina y también la necesidad de la solución de los problemas a través de una divinidad.

The development of Cecilia's character was incredible, at the beginning she is a little lost because she is just starting her journey to become a nun, she arrives in Italy knowing very little of the language, which makes it difficult for her to interact with the other nuns, but as the film progresses we can see how she begins to become interested and distressed by the strange events that occur inside the convent, looking for explanations and wanting to know more about the story but from one moment to another she is helpless and dismayed to learn that inside she is carrying a baby which is called the son of god, without having broken her vow of chastity this ends up being a complete miracle within the convent to such an extent that all the nuns call Cecilia as Saint Cecilia. We see later how she opens her eyes to everything that is going on and in her search for explanations she finds many terrifying answers that make her want to flee the place immediately. I loved Sydney's performance and the way she shows her emotions through her body language, we see a significant change in her character and that due to her good acting management and without giving too much spoiler about it my favorite part was her scream, I definitely consider her the new scream queen within horror movies.

El desarrollo que tuvo el personaje de Cecilia fue increíble al principio se muestra un poco perdida ya que a parte de estar iniciando su camino para ser monja llega a Italia conociendo muy poco del idioma lo que hace que se le dificulte su interacción con las otras monjas pero mientras avanza la película podemos ver cómo ella empieza a interesarse y a angustiarse por los sucesos extraños que ocurren dentro del convento, buscando explicaciones y queriendo conocer más sobre la historia pero de un momento a otro se ve desamparada y consternada al enterarse que dentro lleva a un bebé el cual es denominado como el hijo de dios, sin haber roto su voto de castidad este termina siendo un completo milagro dentro del convento a tal punto en el que todas las monjas denominan a Cecilia como Santa Cecilia. Vemos más tarde como va abriendo los ojos con respecto a todo lo que ocurre y en su búsqueda de explicaciones se encuentra con muchas terroríficas respuestas que hacen que quiera huir inmediatamente del lugar. Me encantó la actuación de Sydney y la forma en la que demuestra sus emociones a través de su lenguaje corporal, vemos un cambio significativo en su personaje y eso debido a su buen manejo actoral y sin dar mucho spoiler sobre ello mi parte favorita fue su grito, definitivamente la considero la nueva reina del grito dentro del cine de terror.
