Boy, this is an intense show. Ginny & Georgia's 3rd season came out this month, and it brought triple the drama, conflict, trauma, and laughs than the previous ones. Its overall intensity grows chapter by chapter, and it produces a lot of questioning and moral meditation about the events and attitudes of the characters regarding what they are going through and how to cope with those events. Here I share my thoughts about this season.

¡Qué serie tan intensa! La tercera temporada de Ginny y Georgia se estrenó este mes y trajo el triple de drama, conflicto, trauma y risas que las anteriores. Su intensidad general crece capítulo a capítulo y genera mucho cuestionamiento y reflexión moral sobre los eventos y las actitudes de los personajes respecto a lo que están viviendo y cómo afrontarlo. Aquí comparto mis reflexiones sobre esta temporada.

We receive a summary of previous events to synchronize with what's to come. Georgia manages to marry the mayor, Paul, but she is immediately arrested. A private investigator is hunting her down, while at the same time, both her children's parents move near and are trying to be around. Cause of the arrest? murder, but not one of her previous husbands. She is accused of murdering Cynthia's comatose husband at her house.

It feels like the "hit and run" behavior of Georgia will not work this time. She is in Jail, then on house arrest, and faces a hard-to-win trial. The whole season revolves around how this trial affects each character, starting with her kids and her new husband. Friends grow apart, people change their minds, betrayal, abandonment, reconciliation; it just has it all.

When I mentioned intensity, I mean it. In one episode, I found myself feeling like crying, then laughing the next minute, getting scared, and then deep diving into more emotional trauma. Events are intense, and just watching the show can make those emotions linger in you even after watching. The reason for this is quite simple: Each step characters take on any matter is questionable. The line of right and wrong in this story is sometimes hard to see; other times, you don't want to see it.

Cuando mencioné intensidad, lo digo en serio. En un episodio, me dieron ganas de llorar, luego de reír al minuto siguiente, de asustarme y de repente, de sumergirme en un trauma emocional aún mayor. Los eventos son intensos, y el solo hecho de ver la serie puede hacer que esas emociones persistan incluso después de verla. La razón es bastante simple: cada paso que dan los personajes ante cualquier asunto es cuestionable. A veces es difícil ver la línea entre el bien y el mal en esta historia; otras veces, no quieres verla.

You might sympathize with Georgia at some point, recognize her charm, wit, and spark to face this horrible situation. If this happens to you, then you want the line to disappear a little bit and let her continue being Georgia. Sadly, crossing lines also becomes an issue for other characters. Ginny shows more and more personality traits like her mother, and Austin starts to get involved in his family tactics to deal with problems.

Aside from them, Marcus also exhibits drinking problems, and Abby develops an inclination towards anorexia. Meanwhile, one of my favorite characters, Maxine, is excluded for almost the entire season. I think she receives unfair treatment from her social circles, yet this character hardly develops in any direction. If anything, it seems something is set to introduce a mental illness problem in the future.

Quizás en algún momento simpatices con Georgia, reconozcas su encanto, ingenio y chispa para afrontar esta horrible situación. Si esto te sucede, querrás que la línea se desvanezca un poco y que siga siendo Georgia. Lamentablemente, cruzar la línea también se convierte en un problema para otros personajes. Ginny muestra cada vez más rasgos de personalidad como los de su madre, y Austin empieza a involucrarse en las tácticas familiares para lidiar con los problemas.

Another big topic is abortion. Again, your morals and principles might point you in the same direction characters walk to deal with this problem or a completely different one. I felt Ginny was being portrayed more like her mother, bumping into her same mistakes, but showing a different approach. I can say, in a delicate topic like this one, no one but the persons involved should make the calls on what to do.

Otro tema importante es el aborto. De nuevo, tu moral y tus principios podrían llevarte a la misma dirección que toman los personajes para lidiar con este problema o a una completamente distinta. Sentí que Ginny se retrataba más como su madre, repitiendo sus mismos errores, pero con un enfoque diferente. The biggest lesson still present in this season is how parents affect their children and contribute directly to who they become as they grow up. From small words to big actions, everything parents do might leave an indelible print on a child's heart and mind, even throughout their entire life. If, as parents, we have difficult pasts, we should strive to give our children the best we can offer, so maybe, and just maybe, they will be free from our past traumas.

La lección más importante que aún perdura en esta época es cómo los padres influyen en sus hijos y cómo influyen directamente en quienes se convierten a medida que crecen. The season closes with enough material for a new one, opening new secrets and mysteries I want to be revealed. I hope it brings more Maxine, good revenge on Paul, new love for Georgia, fewer killing husbands, more poetry, and maybe some new characters to expand the little universe of Wellbury, Massachusetts.
