Undoubtedly this is one of those movies that every curly girl should see... especially if you are going through the transition, what we mostly call the stage of recovering the curls or if you have already gone through it, because it is very easy to identify with the main character of this story, and it definitely touches many fibers and embodies in the story the facets that we go through. Also, if you are not a curly girl, I also recommend it because it talks in general about change and transformation through it, and the fact of accepting what we have naturally.

The terrible obsession to be perfect or to be that woman you are supposed to be... I think we have all gone through an episode like this at some point in our lives, and it has also been part of the canon of beauty that was held of curly women, a type of hair that was not accepted, that was outside the norm and that simply had no place in the world, branding it as wild and even unprofessional.

But going back to the story we go through with the protagonist from various events in her life from childhood to adulthood that led her to be very rigid with herself to a prototype of the perfect woman, which is seen on TV, in advertising (media in which ironically she works in the film) and how through the breakage of a very important event for her decides to start a change.

A scene that I really liked was one in which she is crying inconsolably after shaving her hair in a bathroom in her office and another woman is crying too, and she invites her to a support group, after hesitating she decides to go and it turns out that the support group was for women who were suffering from cancer, which results in a real shock for the protagonist because although what she feels is valid, there are much more complicated things to face and seeing these women in that situation gives her a lot of push to leave, and see the world from another perspective.
