Liam Neeson is an actor who has made a career out of playing action characters, and in Retribution, he once again proves that he is one of the best in his field. Although I have to be honest, he did most of the movie comfortably sitting behind the wheel.
The film begins with an action scene that gives us the impression that it will be an unconventional thriller; nothing could be further from the truth.
Directed by Nimród Antal, (a director who does not have many hits) it is a remake of the Spanish film El desconocido (2015), and tells the story of Matt Turner, a banking executive who receives a phone call while driving his children to school. The stranger who calls him informs him that there is a bomb under their seats and that he will set it off if he does not follow his instructions.

Matt is forced to follow the orders of the stranger, who forces him to drive all over the city. The stranger gives him increasingly difficult and dangerous instructions, and Matt must do everything in his power to save his children.
The film is full of tension and suspense. The stranger is a mysterious character with dark motivations that are not revealed until the end. Matt, meanwhile, is a desperate man who will do anything to save his family. The chemistry between Neeson and the actors playing his children, Jack Champion and Lilly Aspell, is excellent, and helps create an emotional connection with the characters.
Liam Neeson is perfect as Matt Turner, conveying the desperation and fear of a father struggling to save his children. The rest of the cast is also fine, especially Noma Dumezweni, who plays the police detective.
The film is fast-paced and makes the 90 minutes run fast. Antal's direction manages to create an atmosphere of constant tension. The film is shot very realistically, and the action scenes are quite acceptable. The editing is fast and agile and helps to keep the viewer's attention.
It's a good movie, but it lacks a bit of depth. The plot is simple and Matt Turner's character is a bit one-dimensional.

More development of Matt Turner's character and plot could have made Retribution, an even better film. However, even as it stands, the film is a thrilling experience that will not leave the viewer indifferent.
In my ultimate opinion, it's a recommendable film that will keep you on the edge of your seat (without a bomb underneath) from start to finish. It's a well-made action thriller that's worth watching just once.

Liam Neeson es un actor que ha hecho carrera interpretando personajes de acción, y en Retribution, Contrarreloj (2023), vuelve a demostrar que es uno de los mejores en su campo. Aunque debo ser sincero, hizo casi toda la película cómodamente sentado detrás del volante.
La película comienza con una escena de acción que nos da la impresión de que será un thriller nada convencional; nada más lejos de la verdad.
Dirigida por Nimród Antal, (un director que no cuenta con muchos éxitos) es un remake de la cinta española El desconocido (2015), y cuenta la historia de Matt Turner, un ejecutivo bancario que recibe una llamada telefónica mientras conduce a sus hijos a la escuela. El desconocido que le llama le informa de que hay una bomba debajo de sus asientos y que la hará estallar si no sigue sus instrucciones.

Matt se ve obligado a cumplir las órdenes del desconocido, que le obliga a conducir por toda la ciudad. El desconocido le da instrucciones cada vez más difíciles y peligrosas, y Matt debe hacer todo lo que esté a su alcance para salvar a sus hijos.
La película está llena de tensión y suspense. El desconocido es un personaje misterioso con motivaciones son oscuras que no se revela hasta el final. Matt, por su parte, es un hombre desesperado que hará cualquier cosa para salvar a su familia. La química entre Neeson y los actores que interpretan a sus hijos, Jack Champion y Lilly Aspell, es excelente, y ayuda a crear una conexión emocional con los personajes.
Liam Neeson está perfecto en el papel de Matt Turner, transmite la desesperación y el miedo de un padre que lucha por salvar a sus hijos. El resto del reparto también está bien, especialmente Noma Dumezweni, que interpreta a la detective de la policía.
La película tiene un ritmo trepidante y hace que los 90 minutos corran a prisa. La dirección de Antal consigue crear una atmósfera de tensión constante. La película está rodada de forma muy realista, y las escenas de acción son bastante aceptables. El montaje es rápido y ágil, y ayuda a mantener la atención del espectador.
Es una película buena, pero le falta un poco de profundidad. La trama es sencilla y el personaje de Matt Turner es un poco unidimensional.

Un mayor desarrollo del personaje de Matt Turner y de la trama podría haber convertido a Retribution, Contrarreloj en una película aún mejor. Sin embargo, incluso tal y como está, la película es una experiencia emocionante que no dejará indiferente al espectador.
En mi opinión definitiva, es una película recomendable que te mantendrá al borde del asiento (sin una bomba debajo) desde el principio hasta el final. Es una película de suspenso y acción bien hecha que vale la pena ver una sola vez.
