Holaaa soy Giselle hermosa comunidad. Necesito hablar 5 minutos de Moana live-action porque mi niña interior está gritando.
Sí, Disney lo hizo otra vez. Agarró la peli que nos hizo llorar en 2016 y dijo: "¿y si la hacemos con gente real?". Y bueno… aquí estamos.
¿De qué va? Sin spoilers pero con feeling
Moana otra vez. El océano la llama. Su isla Motunui se está muriendo. Y ella dice "nah, yo me encargo" y se lanza al mar sin pedir permiso.
Esta vez Moana es Catherine Lagaʻaia. 17 años, samoana-australiana, y tiene la misma energía terca y dulce que amamos. Y Maui… es La Roca. Literal. Dwayne Johnson volvió, con peluca, tatuajes que se mueven y cantando "De nada" como si nada.
Te vas a encontrar con TODO lo que amabas: Tamatoa brillando, el Reino de los Monstruos, Heihei siendo estúpido y adorable, y ese final con Te Kā que a mí me sigue poniendo la piel de gallina. Dura 1h 55min, o sea casi lo mismo.
A ver, ¿valió la pena o es puro refrito?
Mira, te voy a ser honesta porque quiero que me sigan en esta red por esa razón:
Lo bueno:
Catherine se roba la peli. Se nota que le importa representar al Pacífico. No es solo "actuar", es orgullo. Y visualmente? Dios. El mar se ve REAL. Cuando Moana está en el bote sientes la sal literal.
Lo no tan bueno:
Es CASI calca de la animada. Disney no se animó a cambiar nada. Cero riesgo. Por eso mucha gente en internet está diciendo "está bonita pero ¿para qué?". Y entiendo. Si viste la original 40 veces, esta te va a saber a replay.

Yes, Disney did it again. They took the movie that made us cry in 2016 and said: "what if we make it with real people?" And well… here we are.
What’s it about? No spoilers, but with feeling
Moana again. The ocean calls her. Her island, Motunui, is dying. And she’s like "nah, I got this" and jumps into the sea without asking permission.
This time Moana is Catherine Lagaʻaia. 17 years old, Samoan-Australian, and she has that same stubborn and sweet energy we love. And Maui… it’s The Rock. Literally. Dwayne Johnson is back, with a wig, moving tattoos, and singing "You're Welcome" like nothing happened.
You’re going to see EVERYTHING you loved: Tamatoa shining, the Realm of Monsters, Heihei being dumb and adorable, and that ending with Te Kā that still gives me chills. It’s 1h 55min long, so basically the same.
Okay, but… was it worth it or is it just a reheat?
Look, I’m gonna be honest with you because that’s why I want you to follow me on here:
The good:
Catherine steals the movie. You can tell it matters to her to represent the Pacific. It’s not just "acting", it’s pride. And visually? God. The ocean looks REAL. When Moana is on the boat you can literally taste the salt.
The not-so-good:
It’s ALMOST a carbon copy of the animated one. Disney didn’t dare to change anything. Zero risks. That’s why a lot of people online are saying "it’s pretty but… why?". And I get it. If you’ve watched the original 40 times, this one is gonna feel like a replay.
Lo de La Roca:
Internet está peleado. Hay quienes dicen "se ve raro" y otros "es Maui caminando". Yo? Me reí al inicio con la peluca. Pero cuando entra en escena te olvidas. El tipo tiene carisma hasta dormido.
Veredicto de Giselle:
Le doy 3.5 de 5 estrellas.
No le gana a la animada. Nada le va a ganar. Pero si fuiste de los que crecimos con "Cuán lejos voy" a todo volumen, esta te va a abrazar. Es bonita, respeta la cultura, y Catherine te hace creer que el océano de verdad la eligió.
Estreno: 10 de julio 2026 en cines.

The internet is divided. Some people say "he looks weird" and others say "that's Maui walking". Me? I laughed at the beginning because of the wig. But when he comes on screen you forget about it. The guy has charisma even when he's asleep.
Giselle’s Verdict:
I'm giving it 3.5 out of 5 stars.
It doesn’t beat the animated one. Nothing will. But if you’re one of us who grew up blasting "How Far I'll Go" on repeat, this one is gonna hug you. It’s pretty, it respects the culture, and Catherine makes you believe the ocean really did choose her.
Release date: July 10, 2026 in theaters.
