Ante la falta de interés(de mi parte) por ver películas actuales, me he visto en la necesidad de buscar en el pasado del cine historias creativas, con un humor inteligente y situaciones que nos lleven a reflexionar sobre diferentes situaciones de la vida cotidiana. Entonces, mientras buscaba en Star+ me conseguí con una joya del cine: "Good morning, Vietnam".
No les voy a mentir, a parte de que la sinopsis me llamó la atención, mi elección se vió incluida por la participación de Robin Williams y Forest Whitaker, que según yo, son 2 tremendos actores de Hollywood. Así que sin más que agregar, ¡Comencemos! |
Faced with the lack of interest (on my part) in watching current movies, I have found myself in the need to search in the past of cinema for creative stories, with intelligent humor and situations that lead us to reflect on different situations of everyday life. Then, while searching on Star+ I came across a gem of cinema: "Good morning, Vietnam".
I'm not going to lie to you, besides the synopsis catching my attention, my choice was included by the participation of Robin Williams and Forest Whitaker, who according to me, are 2 tremendous Hollywood actors. So without further ado, let's get started! |

Todo comienza cuando Adrian Cronauer(Robin Williams), un locutor del ejército es transferido a la base militar de Saigón, en medio de la guerra de Vietnam, y cuya misión es elevar la moral de los soldados norteamericano que están participando en esta disputa. Adrian es un hombre despreocupado, que no toma las reglas del ejército con mucha seriedad, pero su talento detrás del micrófono es lo que le otorgó una posición de popularidad.
Al llegar la base le es asignado un oficial para que lo acompañe y oriente en la emisora, es aquí donde conoceremos a Eduard(Forest Whitaker), un soldado algo despistado, alegre, fan del trabajo de Adrian y quién se convertirá en su compañero fiel en el transcurso de la historia. |
It all begins when Adrian Cronauer (Robin Williams), an army announcer is transferred to the military base in Saigon, in the middle of the Vietnam War, and whose mission is to raise the morale of the American soldiers who are participating in this dispute. Adrian is a carefree man, who does not take the army rules very seriously, but his talent behind the microphone is what gave him a position of popularity.
Upon arriving at the base he is assigned an officer to accompany him and guide him in the station, it is here where we will meet Eduard (Forest Whitaker), a somewhat clueless, cheerful soldier, fan of Adrian's work and who will become his faithful companion in the course of the story. |

Adrian llegó a desempeñar su papel de locutor sin darle mucha importancia a la situación real que se estaba viviendo en medio de ese conflicto armado, de hecho enseguida su atención se desvió hacia una chica Vietnamita, ya que dejó muy en claro su emoción por relacionarse con mujeres asiáticas.
Pero si algo puedo resaltar de este personaje, es que en ningún momento irrespetó con acciones o comentarios, a las mujeres de ese país, en lugar de eso, hizo muchos intentos por ganarse el corazón de esta chica y eso le agregó humor a la trama. |
Adrian came to play his role as announcer without giving much importance to the real situation that was being lived in the midst of that armed conflict, in fact immediately his attention was diverted to a Vietnamese girl, as he made it very clear his excitement for interacting with Asian women.
But if I can highlight something about this character, it is that at no time did he disrespect the women of that country with actions or comments, instead he made many attempts to win the heart of this girl and that added humor to the plot. |

Es interesante ver cómo su personaje va madurando, a medida que se va haciendo consciente de la situación que se vive en las calles. Comenzó narrando noticias sin importancia y haciendo chistes, que en su mayoría no entendí porque la jerga es muy gringa, hasta que siente la necesidad de decirle a las personas lo que verdaderamente está pasando.
Desde un inicio su llegada al cuartel no fué bien recibida por 2 de sus superiores, así que cuando se cansó de ocultar la verdad y quiso exponerla, se desencadenó una guerra de egos y poder, que es en lo que más se centra la película. Allí es donde su personaje se enfrenta a una encrucijada, entre limitarse a informar lo que le ordenan o aprovechar su posición para revelar la verdad. |
It is interesting to see how his character matures as he becomes more aware of the situation on the streets. He started out narrating unimportant news and making jokes, most of which I didn't understand because the slang is very gringo, until he feels the need to tell people what is really going on.
From the beginning his arrival at the barracks was not well received by 2 of his superiors, so when he got tired of hiding the truth and wanted to expose it, a war of egos and power was unleashed, which is what the film focuses on. That is where her character faces a crossroads, between simply reporting what she is ordered to report or taking advantage of her position to reveal the truth. |
| Hay un personaje que me gustaría resaltar de esta película, porque su papel de "el castroso de la base militar" estuvo buenísimo. Me refiero a Steven(Bruno Kirby) un oficial que tenía a su cargo la emisora de la base y que estaba obsesionado con que él era un buen humorista, cosa que evidentemente era mentira. Me dió cierta lástima, porque mostró signos de frustración, ya que nadie podía ver su "talento", pero la percepción que le dió el director estuvo orientada más hacía el humor. Muy buena actuación, desde mi punto de vista. | There is a character that I would like to highlight from this movie, because his role as "the castroso of the military base" was great. I'm referring to Steven (Bruno Kirby) an officer who was in charge of the base's radio station and who was obsessed with the fact that he was a good humorist, which was evidently a lie. Para ser una película con temática de la guerra, no se centra en este tema como tal, arroja algunas reflexiones sobre el punto de vista de ambos bandos, el poder político y la milicia, los ciudadanos del país y sus activistas. Para mí una pregunta que tiene un peso importante y prefirieron no contestar en la película, fué: ¿Quién es el enemigo? Y es que en una guerra hay más que perder que lo se gana, y todos quieren tener la razón, todos quieren ser las víctimas.
En varios puntos de la película pensé que se convertiría en una historia triste, pero afortunadamente es más relajada en comparación con otras tramas de este tipo. Por su capacidad de entretener, humor, banda sonora y actuaciones, le doy un 8/10 ⭐ |
For a war-themed film, it does not focus on this issue as such, but it does throw some reflections on the point of view of both sides, the political power and the militia, the citizens of the country and its activists. For me a question that has an important weight and they preferred not to answer in the film, was: Who is the enemy? Because in a war there is more to lose than to win, and everyone wants to be right, everyone wants to be the victim.
At several points in the movie I thought it would turn into a sad story, but fortunately it is more relaxed compared to other plots of this type. For its ability to entertain, humor, soundtrack and performances, I give it an 8/10 ⭐. |

¡Esta película es una joya! Recuerdo verla en repetidas oportunidades con mi padre quién amaba este tipo de historias. Como dices, es refrescante ver una visión diferente dentro de un contexto bélico con el personaje de Adrián siendo un hombre común entre dos realidades. Buen artículo y merecida puntuación.
