El guionista Ian McEwan, nos cuenta la historia de Mark(Elijah Wood) un niño que acaba de perder a su mamá, debido a una enfermedad, y su papá queda a cargo de él, sin embargo su trabajo requiere que viaje seguido y se ve en la necesidad de dejarlo con la familia de su hermano; cosa que al final fué una mala decisión.
Mark cargaba con cierto trauma por la partida física de su madre e interpretó ciertas cosas de forma muy literal, pero lo omitiré para no hacer spoilers. Cuando llega a casa de su tío, le toca convivir con sus 2 primos Henry (Macaulay) y Connie (Hermana real de Macaulay), su tío y su esposa quién perdió a uno de sus hijos, cuando esté se ahogó en la bañera. The screenwriter Ian McEwan, tells the story of Mark (Elijah Wood) a boy who has just lost his mother, due to an illness, and his father is left in charge of him, however his work requires him to travel often and he has to leave him with his brother's family; which in the end was a bad decision.

When he arrives at his uncle's house, he gets to live with his 2 cousins Henry (Macaulay) and Connie (Macaulay's real sister), his uncle and his wife who lost one of her sons when he drowned in the bathtub. Todo comenzó bien, de hecho se adaptó súper rápido a la dinámica familiar y se integró rápido con sus primos, y el día lo pasaba jugando con Henry. A medida que se conocían más y más, fué notando ciertas actitudes de Henry que lo llegaron a asustar, pues tenía un comportamiento bastante psicópata.
La película se desarrolla en un duelo entre el niño bueno y el malo, con una trama de suspenso acompañada por un ambiente invernal y paisajes realmente impresionantes. En su mayoría, los personajes que tienen más relevancia son: Mark, Henry, Connie y la mamá de los dos últimos mencionados, los papás, brillan por su ausencia 🤭 |

En general es una buena película, mantiene ese toque de suspenso, considerando el paso del tiempo, pues supongo que cuando se estrenó, todo lo ocurrido tuvo un mayor impacto, y a estas alturas hemos visto tanto que es más difícil sorprendernos. Las actuaciones es una de las cosas que le da cierto nivel, porque Tanto Macaulay, como Elijah, demuestran lo fácil que se les da la interpretación un personaje de esos estilos.
Lo único que me desagradó un poco, es el hecho de que parece una película filmada para Tv, no cine, creo que en ese punto tuvieron fallas. Pero elegir la estación de invierno fué muy acertado, porque contribuye con la personalidad fría de Macaulay, los paisajes hermosos y la química de ambos niños en escena es notable. |
Overall it is a good movie, it keeps that touch of suspense, considering the passage of time, because I guess when it was released, everything that happened had a greater impact, and at this point we have seen so much that it is more difficult to be surprised. The performances is one of the things that gives it a certain level, because both Macaulay and Elijah, show how easy it is for them to interpret a character of those styles.
The only thing that I disliked a little, is the fact that it looks like a movie filmed for TV, not cinema, I think they were flawed on that point. But choosing the winter season was very wise, because it contributes to the cold personality of Macaulay, the beautiful landscapes and the chemistry of both children in the scene is remarkable. |
| La historia tiene sus debilidades, le faltó consistencia, pero igual se deja disfrutar, y algo muy acertado fué el tiempo de duración, 1h y 30min fué más que suficiente para que transcurrieran los acontecimientos. Es gracioso cómo todas sus películas, hasta ese momento, tenían algo en común: Los papás no se ocupan mucho de él, y en la vida real, tampoco... Es una coincidencia algo lamentable, pero se cumple el slogan de TNT: Pasa en las películas, pasa en la vida, pasa en TNT 🤭
Me gustaría ver a Macaulay de regreso en la pantalla grande, siento que tiene mucho potencial, solo necesita una oportunidad, además ahora sería porque así lo decidió y no por obedecer a nadie. Ya veremos si en algún momento lo veremos nuevamente en acción. |
It's funny how all his movies, up to that point, had something in common: Dads don't take much care of him, and in real life, neither.... It's a somewhat unfortunate coincidence, but it fulfills TNT's slogan: It happens in the movies, it happens in life, it happens on TNT 🤭
I would like to see Macaulay back on the big screen, I feel he has a lot of potential, he just needs a chance, plus now it would be because he decided to do so and not because he obeyed anyone. We'll see if at some point we'll see him back in action. |

Yeah, he was really good back in the day wasn't he? I want to say that he wasn't even the original choice for the Home Alone movies but he got along so well with the director and later, John Candy, that it kind of propelled him into the limelight. I'm happy he was able to walk away from the industry and still remain happy and not lose all of his money. I haven't seen him in years and wonder if he even does films.
Hey! He has participated in several independent productions, including one where he makes fun of his character in "Mi pobre angelito" hehe.... I don't think he will return to acting, but I would like to see him act now that he is mature.
