Hola cinéfilos de Hive! Hoy vengo a hablarles de las más reciente producción de Netflix, la serie cuyo nombre está en el título y de la cual sé que podríamos tener una idea de qué se trata.

Como ya había mencionado, Merlina es una serie reciente, (del 23 de noviembre de este año para ser exactos), que nos cuenta la vida escolar/familiar, de la hija mayor de los Addams, que por si no lo saben, es una de las familias más icónicas de todo el cine, ya que su estilo de vida y su manera de ver las cosas, las destaca del resto.

La ironía, el humor negro y lo extraño son las "cualidades" que posee esta familia, y por ende, Merlina no esta exenta de poseerlas.

As I had already mentioned, Wednesday is a recent series (November 23rd of this year to be exact), which tells us about the school/family life of the eldest daughter of the Addams family, which in case you don't know, is one of the most iconic families of all cinema, since their lifestyle and their way of seeing things, makes them stand out from the rest.

Irony, black humor and strangeness are the "qualities" that this family possesses, and therefore, Wednesday is not exempt from possessing them.

La premisa de serie es clara, pues lo que quiere mostrar principalmente es la rareza en sí y lo poco acostumbrados que estamos de lo no tradicional y de lo que no "esta bien visto". También cabe aclarar que ésta reseña contiene SPOILERS!

Habiendo dicho esto, empecemos...

El principio de la serie nos muestra a Merlina en una escuela común y corriente en la cual la ven como un bicho raro. Realmente es algo que la tiene sin cuidado, pero no demora en ser un problema para ella, ya que al defender a su hermano Pericles de unos chicos que le hicieron una broma, es expulsada de la escuela debido a que atenta contra la vida de uno de ellos.

The premise of the series is clear, because what it wants to show mainly is the weirdness itself and how unaccustomed we are to the non-traditional and what is not "well seen". It should also be noted that this review contains SPOILERS!

The beginning of the series shows us Wednesday in an ordinary school where she is seen as a freak. It's something she doesn't really care about, but it doesn't take long for it to become a problem for her, since when she defends her brother Pericles from some kids who played a prank on him, she is expelled from school because she makes an attempt on the life of one of them.

Merlina no quiere convivir con personas comunes de su edad, pues socializar no es lo suyo, y por ello se a encargado de auto sabotearse en cada escuela a la que asiste; es por eso que sus padres (Morticia y Homero Addams) deciden inscribirla en una especie de internado para chicos (as) diferentes, raros y con "talentos" especiales.

En ésta nueva escuela, Merlina es obligada a vivir con una chica llamada Enid, la cual es todo lo contrario a ella, pues ésta es amante del color Rosa, le encanta socializar y a mi parecer es una chica muy dulce.

Wednesday does not want to live with common people of her age, because socializing is not her thing, and for that reason she has been in charge of sabotaging herself in every school she attends; that is why her parents (Morticia and Homer Addams) decide to enroll her in a kind of boarding school for different kids, weird and with special "talents".

In this new school, Wednesday is forced to live with a girl named Enid, who is the opposite of her, because she loves the color pink, loves to socialize and in my opinion is a very sweet girl.

Como es de suponerse Merlina no se siente a gusto en su nueva escuela, pues cree que sus padres lo hacen para torturarla y para crear una copia exacta de ellos, lo cual la pone muy furiosa y decide emprender su plan de escape.

Mientras intenta huir conoce a Tyler, un chico "normie" que trabaja en una cafetería y que se ofrece a ayudarla a escapar, pero, por desgracia para ella, en ese preciso momento tiene un altercado con unos chicos y es descubierta por la directora de la escuela.

As is to be expected, Wednesday does not feel at ease in her new school, as she believes that her parents are doing it to torture her and to create an exact copy of them, which makes her very angry and she decides to undertake her escape plan.

While trying to escape she meets Tyler, a "normie" boy who works in a cafeteria and who offers to help her escape, but, unfortunately for her, at that very moment she has an altercation with some boys and is discovered by the school principal.

Merlina intenta escapar nuevamente con la ayuda de Tyler, pero al momento de huir, se da cuenta de que en el bosque está sucediendo algo extraño y decide ir a inspeccionar. Al llegar al bosque tiene una visión (es algo muy frecuente en ella) e intenta salvar a Rowan, uno de sus compañeros de una tragedia, pero por desgracia no lo logra ya que este solo quería matarla por una extraña "profecía".

En el momento en el que el joven usa la telequinesis para controlarla, aparece una especie de monstruo y la "salva". Debido a esto, Merlina cambia de parecer y decide continuar en la escuela, para ver que es lo que realmente ocurre en ella.

Wednesday tries to escape again with Tyler's help, but at the moment of fleeing, she realizes that something strange is happening in the forest and decides to go to inspect. When she gets to the forest she has a vision (it is something very frequent in her) and tries to save Rowan, one of her companions from a tragedy, but unfortunately she does not succeed because he only wanted to kill her because of a strange "prophecy".

At the moment when the young man uses telekinesis to control her, a kind of monster appears and "saves" her. Because of this, Merlina changes her mind and decides to continue at the school, to see what really happens there.
