Today, since the whole family had the day off, we decided to buy some beer and hold a movie night.

Lately, #BeerSaturday and movie watching have become quite the pair. After an evening walk, I rode my bike to the supermarket "Life." I bought beer, katsuo tataki, mixed nuts, ingredients for pork kimchi, and more. I also got some bottled drinks for the kids — Co-up Guarana, lemonade, and orange cider. Tomorrow is Respect for the Aged Day, so both work and school are off.

At the store, the first beer I picked was Asahi’s "Red Eye." It’s more of a beer cocktail than a straight beer, made by mixing beer with tomato juice. They say one can contains the juice of a whole tomato, so it’s kind of healthy?

I’ve tried it once before, and the balance of the beer’s bitterness with the tomato’s acidity and sweetness is surprisingly delicious… Even though I’m not usually a fan of tomato juice, I can enjoy a Red Eye without any issue. It’s kind of mysterious 😅

With an alcohol content of about 3%, it’s light and pairs well with meals. The katsuo tataki was thick and delicious too!

For my second can, I chose Suntory’s "The Premium Malt’s Master’s Dream # 37."

This is a limited-edition beer inspired by the thirty-seventh of the seventy-two micro-seasons, "Ryōfū Itaru" (Cool Breezes Arrive). The seventy-two micro-seasons are derived from dividing the twenty-four solar terms, like the beginning of spring or summer solstice, into three sub-seasons: first, second, and last.

Meaning "the arrival of cool breezes," this beer is perfect for this season. Even with lingering humidity, the occasional cool evening breeze makes it ideal for sipping. The refreshing design of the packaging is also lovely🥰

It’s a bit bitter, but it paired perfectly with the spicy pork kimchi (made by my husband).

When we watch movies at home, we usually use U-NEXT. They have everything from old classics to the latest releases!

Recently, our 7-year-old second son has started being able to watch a 2-hour movie all the way through. Of course, it depends on the content, but just a little while ago, even with seemingly easy-to-follow movies, he’d get bored halfway through, start playing, or fall asleep. It makes me realize that watching a movie requires a certain level of focus and comprehension.

The series often depicts conflicts between different races, and naturally, since it’s a Hong Kong/Chinese production, the perspective leans toward the Chinese. In past films, Japanese characters were portrayed as pretty nasty😈😈, but let’s set that aside… Ip Man, or rather, the lead actor Donnie Yen, is just so cool it’s electrifying.

He’s usually calm, soft-spoken, and doesn’t fight unnecessarily, which is admirable, but when he does fight, he holds nothing back. The pattern in these films is that the protagonist faces relentless unfair situations, but he endures and endures... then finally lets loose with kung fu, leaving you feeling utterly satisfied!

With beers in hand, the family cheered for Master Ip tonight! 🙌🎉

今日は家族みんな休日だったので、夜はビールを買って映画鑑賞会を開くことにしました。

最近、#BeerSaturdayと映画鑑賞はセットになりつつあります。夕方のウォーキングの後、スーパーマーケット「ライフ」まで自転車を走らせました。ビールと鰹のたたき、ミックスナッツ、豚キムチの材料などを購入。息子たちにも瓶のガラナ、レモネード、オレンジサイダーなどを買いました。

明日も敬老の日で、仕事も学校もお休みです。

売り場で私がまず選んだのは、アサヒビールの「レッドアイ」。

これはビールというよりビアカクテルで、ビールをトマトジュースで割ったものです。1缶あたりトマト1個分の果汁が使われているということで、健康的？

以前にも一度試したことがありますが、ビールの苦味とトマトの酸味・甘味が絶妙にマッチしていて結構おいしいんですよね・・・トマトジュースはあまり得意じゃないはずなのに、レッドアイなら美味しく飲める不思議😅

アルコール度数は約3%と軽めで、食事にも合わせやすいカクテルです。鰹のたたきも、分厚くて美味しかった！

2缶目は、サントリーの「ザ・プレミアム・モルツ マスターズドリーム # 37」。

このビールは、季節の移り変わりを示す「七十二候」の第三十七候「涼風至（りょうふういたる）」をコンセプトに作られた限定醸造ビールです。七十二候とは、1年を立春や夏至など24の季節にわけた二十四節気を、さらに初侯・次候・末候の三つに分けたもの。

「涼しい風が立ち始める」という意味のこの季節にぴったりで、まだ蒸し暑さが残る中、夕方に時折吹く涼しい風を感じながら飲むのに最適でした。パッケージの涼しげなデザインも素敵です。

ちょっと苦めですが、豚キムチ（父ちゃん作）のピリ辛とよく合いました。

家で映画を観るときは、U-NEXTが多いです。古い映画から最新作まで、何でもある！

最近は、7歳の次男も2時間程度の映画なら最後まで観られるようになりました。もちろん内容にも寄りますが、少し前までは分かり易そうな映画でも途中で飽きて遊び始てしまったり、寝てしまったりしていたので😅

映画を観るにも、ある程度の集中力、そして理解力が必要なんだなと改めて思います。

今夜観たのは『イップ・マン 完結』（2020年香港）。大人気カンフー映画「イップ・マン」シリーズの最終章です。

異なる人種同士の対立が描かれることが多く、当然ながら制作国は香港・中国なので視点は中国人寄りです。過去作では日本人がかなり嫌な奴として描かれていましたが、まあその辺は置いておいて・・・イップ師匠、あるいは主演のドニー・イェンがとにかくカッコよくて痺れます・・・

普段は穏やかで口数が少なく、むやみに闘わない姿勢が素敵なのに、いざ闘う時は容赦ナシ。劇中、主人公には理不尽な状況が続くのが毎度のパターンですが、じっと耐え抜いて最後にカンフーで発散する姿に、スカッとせずにはいられません。
