And More Windows - May 25 & 26, 2026@goldenoakfarm

Monday morning I wasn’t moving too fast. It was cold and rainy outside, but warm inside due to woodstoves. I decided to get all my winter stuff washed so I can put it away soon. I’m really late doing this.

I’d remembered I’d forgotten to do the butter on Sunday, so I got it packaged and weighed. We got 6.94 lbs.

During the afternoon I watched ‘Always’ which has a cameo of Audrey Hepburn in it. It was the last movie she did. It’s also the last movie of hers, besides ‘My Fair Lady’ that I have. I watched ‘My Fair Lady’ recently, so I’m not watching it again.
I ordered a couple of her movies from the library so I’ll have those to watch soon.
After that I sat and read and kept the laundry going until bedtime around 8PM.

On Tuesday morning as I was closing up the house, I found a bucket of tulips on the porch. My youngest brother had brought them home from CT on Monday night from my oldest brother who works on a tulip farm. They are the last of the tulips there.

I was finishing up the laundry and prepping the living room for doing the 2 biggest windows and the last of the smaller ones. I had to take down all the seedlings and shelving to do this.

I managed to get a load of dishes into the dishwasher just before my window guy arrived at 9AM. We got started on the windows in the living room but only did the big ones, as we were trying to avoid the sun on them.
While I was washing windows, he went to the office and moved all the stuff from the 3 big windows in there. We moved the operation into the office and got those 3 big windows done.
Then we got the doors to the office done and put the screens in finally. We went back to the living room and got the small window done as the sun was now off it. And finally we got the back porch door and trim finished. He had to go and I was wiped out.

My helper friend had arrived at 10:30AM and I asked him if he thought he could get the tomato stakes in by himself. But they are new tall ones and he needs someone to hold them while he pounds them in. So I asked him to clean the black fridge in the kitchen instead.
Once that was done he had errands to run and was back just before 2PM. He decided to go home then to his AC.

We’ve gotten some rain but apparently not enough and our drought status has worsened.
I made some lunch and was in bed by 3PM and slept until 6PM under all my blankets, even though it was to reach 85F outside. I know I’m much too tired when I am that cold.
I got up and ate some supper and read for a while. I got the house opened up and was in bed by 9PM.
On Wednesday my window guy comes back for the last time. We need to put all the seedling shelves back up, put the furniture back, wash the back door in the office, and go to the cellar to put away all the storm windows. If there’s still time, we will also put away all the plant shelving that got taken down there a month ago.
It’s to hit the mid 80’s again so no gardening. I need to finish the laundry, folding it and putting it away and sorting out my winter clothes to be put away. I’ve also got to finish cleaning up the kitchen.

STOPIt's hard to believe your state is in a drought with all the snow and rain we've been getting. Which part are you in, East or West? I'm finishing planting this afternoon, finally, and hubby will wash out the flats to be put away. Yay!
Western Mass
And I try to get ready to plant the Small garden tomorrow morning as my window guy has 1.5 hours left and agreed to pound in tomato stakes on Friday afternoon. So maybe on Saturday I can put tomatoes in...
That's really a lot of butter, you use a lot of it?
Here we are already at 30 degrees, so hot
It's for a whole year, plus for my #1 intern, so think about how much you would use in a year....
