Comienzo esta reseña hablándoles un poco del protagonista de este film: Clinton (Clint) Eastwood.

He sido un fiel seguidor de las películas de este actor, recuerdo que la primera película que vi en el cine fue "Por un puñado de dólares", uno de los westerns más famosos que ha protagonizado Clint, luego las policíacas con "Harry el sucio", Magnum 44, gran Torino y muchas más. Se ha destacado este actor por su carácter de hombre recio y decidido en cada una de sus actuaciones.

En la actualidad Clint tiene 93 años y no ha parado de trabajar, es actor, director, guionista y productor de cine. Es decir, que tiene una envidiable trayectoria dentro del cine que lo hace baluarte en esta profesión.

I begin this review by telling you a little about the protagonist of this film: Clinton (Clint) Eastwood.
I have been a faithful follower of this actor's films, I remember that the first film I saw in the cinema was "For a Fistful of Dollars", one of the most famous westerns that Clint has starred in, then the detective films with "Dirty Harry", "Magnum 44", "Gran Torino" and many more. This actor has been characterized by his character of a tough and determined man in each of his performances.
Today Clint is 93 years old and has not stopped working, he is an actor, director, screenwriter and film producer. That is to say, he has an enviable trajectory within the cinema that makes him a bastion in this profession.

Mula relata una historia basada en hechos reales, de un anciano horticultor de 90 años, llamado Earl Stone (Clint Eastwood) que se encuentra quebrado, con sus propiedades a punto de ser embargadas y que le urge conseguir dinero a como de lugar. Alguien le comenta que existen personas que pagan por conducir su camioneta de un sitio a otro y el comienza a trabajar, al principio sin saberlo, como mula del narcotráfico para el cartel más famoso de Mexico: el cartel de Sinaloa.

Es un trabajo peligroso pero que Earl acomete como cualquier otro, sin embargo la justicia, representada por Colin Bates (Bradley Thomas) está al tanto de los acontecimientos y tratarán de apresarlo.

Mula tells a story based on true events, of a 90 year old horticulturist named Earl Stone (Clint Eastwood) who is broke, with his properties about to be foreclosed and who is desperate to get money no matter what. Someone tells him that there are people who pay to drive his truck from one place to another and he begins to work, unknowingly at first, as a drug mule for the most famous cartel in Mexico: the Sinaloa cartel.
It is a dangerous job but one that Earl undertakes like any other, however, justice, represented by Colin Bates (Bradley Thomas) is aware of the events and will try to apprehend him.

Mi opinión / My opinion

Imagínense que alguien les dice que le van a pagar una fuerte suma de dinero solo por hacer un transporte o un "flete" como le decimos en Venezuela, con su propia camioneta. Lo primero que pensariamos es que algo bueno no debe ser para que paguen tanto dinero. Sin embargo, cuando a Earl le hacen esa oferta, no se molesta siquiera en averiguar el qué y el cómo. Solo se limita a cumplir con su trabajo debido a que se encuentra sumamente necesitado de dinero y esa es una buena y fácil forma de obtenerlo.

El caso de Earl fue tomado de la vida real y es que, si reflexionamos al respecto, podemos llegar a la conclusión que cualquier persona en una difícil situación es capaz de caer fácilmente en esta trampa.

De eso se trata el narcotráfico de la cocaina entre los Estados Unidos y México, en este caso. El poderoso cartel de Sinaloa ofrece altas sumas de dinero a personas comunes, que no despierten sospechas, tal como un anciano de 90 años, para convertirlos en mulas y así lograr lucrarse con el tráfico de droga a nivel mundial.

Imagine that someone tells you that they are going to pay you a large sum of money just to do a transport or "freight" as we say in Venezuela, with their own truck. The first thing we would think is that it must not be any good for them to pay so much money. However, when Earl gets such an offer, he doesn't even bother to find out what and how. He just does his job because he is in dire need of money and that is a good and easy way to get it.
Earl's case was taken from real life and, if we reflect on it, we can come to the conclusion that anyone in a difficult situation is capable of easily falling into this trap.
That is what cocaine trafficking between the United States and Mexico is all about, in this case. The powerful Sinaloa cartel offers high sums of money to ordinary people, who do not arouse suspicion, such as a 90 year old man, to turn them into mules and thus profit from drug trafficking worldwide.

La película está muy bien llevada de la mano de su director y actor Clint Eastwood y a pesar que trata sobre la vida de un delincuente que colabora con el narcotráfico, nos hace ver que esa persona también tiene sus problemas familiares y que está arrepentido de haber cometido tantos errores en su vida que afectaron su desempeño como padre y esposo.

Earl es una persona terca y muy decidida, el tipo de persona que no le gusta que le digan lo que debe y no debe hacer con su vida. En algunas partes de la película, notaremos que el protagonista quiere cambiar y también se dedica a dar muy buenos y aleccionadores consejos a la juventud para que no cometan los errores que el cometió a lo largo de su vida.

The film is very well handled by its director and actor Clint Eastwood and although it deals with the life of a criminal who collaborates with drug trafficking, it makes us see that this person also has his family problems and that he regrets having made so many mistakes in his life that affected his performance as a father and husband.
Earl is a stubborn and very determined person, the kind of person who does not like to be told what he should and should not do with his life. In some parts of the movie, we will notice that the protagonist wants to change and he also dedicates himself to give very good and sobering advice to the youth so that they do not make the mistakes he made throughout his life.

Para concluir/ In conclusion

Una película excelente para compartir en familia, para analizar y reflexionar. Un tabajo impecable en cuanto a las actuaciones de todos los personajes. Lleva intrínseco un positivo mensaje sobre la experiencia de un padre de familia que quiere corregir los errores cometidos en su vida.

Es también un llamado de atención a los jóvenes para que no caigan en las redes de personas que solo buscan intereses particulares, que ofrecen buenas recompensas, pero que una vez que se ven dentro de estas organizaciones, es imposible salir ileso de ellas.

An excellent film to share with the family, to analyze and reflect. An impeccable work in terms of the performances of all the characters. It carries a positive message about the experience of a father who wants to correct the mistakes made in his life.
It is also a wake-up call to young people not to fall into the nets of people who only look for particular interests, who offer good rewards, but once they are inside these organizations, it is impossible to get out of them unscathed.
