The plot / La trama

Hug Glass (Leonardo Di Caprio) is an expert trapper who travels through inhospitable territories as a guide for fur trappers' expeditions. On his journey he is confronted by a Grizzly bear that leaves him badly wounded and his companions decide to leave him for dead. But Hug has no plans to die in those frozen lands and fights to the end for his survival, encouraged by the strength of his desire for revenge.

Las graves heridas que recibió Hug hacían pensar que sería presa fácil de los salvajes indios de la zona o de los animales hambrientos, sin embargo fue capaz de salvar los innumerables obstáculos que se le presentaron a lo largo de su huida, gracias a los conocimientos de supervivencia que poseía. Cualquier otro mortal habría perecido rápidamente ante tantas dificultades juntas.

The locations chosen for the film in the south of Argentina, show beautiful natural winter landscapes and its director Alejandro Iñárritu used only natural light for the scenes, which made the work slower but the result is great. The unparalleled cinematography of this film makes it special by transmitting that realism to the viewer.

The action scenes are excellent, I especially loved the bear attack. The scene was so real that it looks like the bear is really biting the actor and tearing him alive. Likewise, the chases are masterfully done, the camera movement is done in a safe and very professional way.

Las locaciones escogidas para la película en el sur de Argentina, muestran hermosos paisajes naturales invernales y su director Alejandro Iñárritu utilizó únicamente luz natural para las escenas, lo cual hizo el trabajo más lento pero el resultado es genial. La fotografía inigualable de esta película la hacen especial al transmitir ese realismo al espectador.
Las escenas de acción son excelentes, sobretodo me encantó la del ataque del oso. Quedó tan real la escena que parece que el oso realmente está mordiendo al actor y despedazándolo vivo. De igual manera las persecuciones están realizadas de manera magistral, el movimiento de la cámara está hecho de una manera segura y muy profesional.

DiCaprio's performance earned him an Academy Award, which is evident in his work in the film. Tom Hardy's performance (John Fitzgeral) also stands out. Both actors are the center of the film around which all events revolve.

The filming was not easy for the actors, as they had to be well prepared to withstand adverse weather conditions, dive into freezing water, learn to shoot ancient weapons and even eat raw meat. I imagine that after filming they must have been left with some health problems.

La actuación de Di Caprio le hizo merecedor del Oscar de la academia, lo cual se evidencia en su trabajo en el film. De igual manera se destaca también la actuación de Tom Hardy (John Fitzgeral). Ambos actores son el centro de la película alrededor de los cuales giran todos los acontecimientos.
Para los actores no fue nada fácil la filmación, pues tenían que estar bien preparados para soportar las condiciones climáticas adversas, sumergirse en aguas heladas, aprender a disparar armas antiguas y hasta comer carne cruda. Me imagino que después de grabar habrán quedado con algunos problemas de salud.

A good movie to be enjoyed with the whole family, although it has many strong scenes of violence and blood.
Excellent scenery and handling of the exteriors. Outstanding performances, especially those of Di Caprio and Hardy.

The film has little dialogue but it is compensated with scenes of violence with a really impressive realism.
