Frankenstein is a film that blends horror dark fantasy drama and science fiction directed by Guillermo del Toro The film reimagines Mary Shelley’s famous story with a much darker more melancholic and visually stunning atmosphere

The story begins in the winter of 1795, at a time when Dr Victor Frankenstein is an extremely intelligent scientist obsessed with the secrets of life and death Victor doesn’t simply want to study and understand science he wants to accomplish something no human being has ever achieved before bringing the dead back to life

After years of research and secret experiments Victor assembles different body parts taken from several corpses. Using his knowledge and dangerous scientific methods he attempts to give life to his creation Eventually his experiment succeeds

THE CREATURE COMES TO LIFE

But Victor’s achievement quickly turns into terror When he sees the creature he has created he is horrified by its appearance and realizes that he has brought something into existence that he cannot control.Instead of taking responsibility for his creation Victor runs away and abandons it.

The creature suddenly thrown into a world it does not understand begins an extremely difficult journey.It tries to understand human beings and the society around it Little by little it learns about the world and simply hopes to find a place where it can belong

But there is one major problem whenever people see its appearance they immediately become afraid

THEY DO NOT SEE A BEING IN NEED OF LOVE AND ACCEPTANCE THEY SEE A MONISTOR

The creature is rejected chased away, and forced to live in isolation Its loneliness and the cruel way people treat it gradually begin to change it. At first,all it wants is to be understood and accepted but the hatred and rejection it constantly experiences slowly give rise to anger and a desire for revenge

Eventually the creature realizes that the person
most responsible for its suffering is VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN the man who gave it life and then abandoned it

From that moment on the story becomes a personal confrontation between the creator and his creation.

Victor is unable to forget the creature. He realizes that his experiment has caused terrible consequences and begins searching for it while the creature is also determined to find Victor

As the story unfolds,ELIZABETH,the woman Victor deeply loves becomes an important part of the conflict The creature longs to find someone who can understand it and who will not be frightened by its appearance.It believes that if it could have someone like itself by its side,it might finally find happiness and peace

However,Victor fears what could happen if he creates another creature.

Victor’s decision ultimately leads to tragic events and the relationship between him and his creation gradually becomes an endless cycle of revenge.

What I particularly appreciate about this story is that the creature is not simply portrayed as an evil monster. There is a deeply tragic story behind it It has become what everyone fears, but one question remains

WAS IT BORN A MONITOR,OR DID SOCIETY AND its OWN CREATOR TURN IT INTO ONE?

Victor is not a perfect hero either He is an extremely intelligent man but his arrogance and his desire to push the boundaries of science lead him to create life without fully considering the responsibility that comes with it

The film therefore presents both characters as people or beings marked by their mistakes and suffering.Victor loses the control he desperately wanted while the creature loses its chance to live a normal life

I also really like the way the story explores the relationship between the creator and his creation Victor wanted to gain the power to create life but once he succeeds he discovers that creating life is much easier than taking responsibility for the life he has created

As the film progresses the conflict between Victor and the creature becomes much more than a simple battle between two individuals.It becomes a struggle involving love,hatred,regret revenge, loneliness and the responsibility we have toward what we create.

In the end the story takes an especially tragic turn Victor is forced to live with the consequences of his past decisions while the creature continues searching for the answer to the greatest question of its existence

WHY WAS I CREATED?

This is what makes Frankenstein much deeper than a simple horror film It is the story of a man who wanted to push beyond the limits of nature only to discover that power does not come with glory alone it also comes with responsibility fear and consequences.

For me,the creature’s perspective was the most interesting part of the story. At first, you may be afraid of it but once you understand everything it has been through you begin to feel sympathy for it It simply wanted to be loved and accepted,but the world taught it hatred and revenge.

So Frankenstein is not simply the story of a scientist who creates a monster It is the story of a man who created life and then ran away from the responsibility that came with it.
And that is precisely what makes this story so tragic,unsettling,and memorableeven after the film ends

MY THOUGHTS

I see Frankenstein as a film that successfully blends horror,drama, and dark fantasy but what interested me most was not simply its horror elements It was the relationship between Victor and his creature and the way a mistake born from excessive ambition can grow into a tragedy that affects so many lives

The film leaves us with a difficult question

IF YOU HAD THE POWER TO CREATE LIFE, WOULD YOU BE CAPABLE Of TAKING responsibility FOR WHAT YOU CREATED?
