Barbarian: A interesting horror movie, creative somehow

I am trying to publish the reviews of all movies/tv shows that I finished watching recently! It was good because I have been watching one after another. I watched 3 horror movies in a role, one release and two others that I missed somehow, and thanks to my daily reading in hive I could get some tips. I love horror movies. Barbarian in Canada is available in the Disney+/Star+ streaming platform, it wasn't long ago in the theaters. I have been debating a lot about this movie in the comment section in multiple reviews around, so I will synthesize them and add in here my complete thoughts, I would argue that I agree with most of the comments that I read from the movie, so here we go.

I watched the trailer and a small description of the movie, if I have a good memory, only the description gives a hint about what it comes after our protagonists. Here is what we find at Disney plus:

Against her better judgment, she decides to spend the evening, but soon discovers that there's a lot more to fear than just an unexpected house guest.

So what happened, I guess the initial plot is not surprising for anyone who is watching the trailer, a woman arrives at an airbnb reservation in a strange neighborhood ( very creepy one btw), it is these Airbnb's that the host doesn't live there so they give you the password for a locker near the door, where you find the key. What happened is that there was already somebody there. A guy, an interesting guy btw with lots about talking, however, the movie brings lots of suspense in this interaction it guides us to maybe suspect this guy being a nice guy. And here it comes for me the creativity of the plot, it is guiding us for something but in the end, it isn't, it is something else like the description says.

screenshot about two of the three protagonists of the movie

The movie has a break. After a while, it starts to focus on the third protagonist, an actor associated with a rape accusation, and he is the real owner of this Airbnb rented by the two first protagonists. He ends up in the same place. While the first two guys we start to cheer for them, this one we create also some questions about his ethics. At this moment of presentation we may think that this rape accusation can also be false but with the development of the movie even not knowing the truth about this "rape incident" the character leads us to believe that his ethics are poor and he prefers to even throw a life of a human being to save himself.

About the actors: Some faces look like we already watched somewhere, I have just checked and the guy that plays Keith ( Bill Skarsgård), had been in some movies that I already watched like the new version of "It", he plays as Pennywise, lol.

So for me these two things in the story positive new things that the movie brought running out from the cliche horror movie: The way how they introduce a third protagonist and also the surprise about what is really happening in there. However, nothing that is good ends perfectly. The end of the movie is a little bit disappointing in my point of view, for me, the ending is pretty similar to other horror movie endings, the good protagonist survives, the bad thing is dead, and something like that! Sorry , I tried the most as I could to avoid spoilers, I hope that you guys still have a nice experience with the movie, that for me it is a good horror movie, like I said in some comments, the best horror movie of the year, but I am not sure if it is around the top 5 from the last 5-10 years. Here is the trailer:

I tried to watch this movie, but I didn't doubt it and only played the first 5 minutes. I think I'm going to give it a try in the next few days. On the other hand, there is something that attracts and it is the conjugation of how she arrives, that pause and then everything becomes tenebrous. I've seen it in the trailer for curiosity's sake.

I'm interested in that part of the characters, I want to see it, but I don't know. Let's see if I try to give a perspective on it.

When I watched this film I wasn't really sure what to expect from here, but I was gladly surprised when I realized this was a properly horror production. There has been many times when I begin to watch a horror production only to find out it is not actually horror, at least not to my standards, but this isn't what happened with this film.

It was a very satisfactory watch and with a couple of nice surprises I didn't see coming. I consider this film among the best horror productions of 2022 so far.

I love Barbarian, it's great, and it's completely my type of movie.
