The latest comedy I watched Sonic - The movie

Well, my youth was during the 90's so of course I played sonic in my Mega Drive. Collecting rings and fighting Dr. Robotinik.
I think I watched "Sonic the Hedgehog" at the right time since they are planning to release the second soon, not that I am very anxious to watch it. It isn't a released movie, since it was launched in 2020. I was looking for something to watch and it was available on Amazon Prime.
Since I mentioned the 90 the movie brings another easter egg from that time, the actor Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotinik, I don't know if it was by purpose selecting a very popular comedy actor in that time but it was a good idea if it was. Jim Carrey became popular with movies such as "The Mask" and "Ace Ventura", in addition to some other movies. The actor disappeared a little bit after a couple of movies, since let us say that his comedy type is very redundant. He focuses his comedy on doing weird faces and actions, which he brings back to this movie.

I quoted it as comedy, but I think that the movie is a mix of comedy, sci-fi (an alien hedgehog that travels by portals through worlds), adventure, and of course, it is focused also on kids, not so young kids though.
The movie tells the story about this alien hedgehog that has superspeed as a power that by mistake came to planet Earth running from bad guys that wanted him on his old planet. He opens portals using his magic rings to go to other planets, but he doesn't know how to use well, so in the beginning he could only open portals to a planet with mushrooms, only mushrooms. During the begining of the movie he spends most of his time hidden in a small city in the country of the US, where he observes the police officer (Tom), James Marsden, that doesn't have much to do as a police officer in this small town.
James Marsden is a medium-well-known actor, he was the Cyclops in the last x-men series from 2000's and also was into some musicals such as Hairspray.
Sonic causes a huge power outage while running during a panic attack because he was lonely, that is how the government noticed that something was weird in that town. In consequence, they hire Dr.Robotinik to investigate this problem. Dr. Robotinik starts to hunt sonic, who decides to hide in Tom's house. Tom sees Sonic and sedates him with a gun. While passing out, Sonic opens by mistake a portal to San Francisco and lets his bag of coins fall into it. Since Tom was wearing a shirt with the Transamerica Pyramid building (the tallest building in SF), that influenced him to open the portal to this place.

So the adventure begins with Tom, who was moving to SF anyways to start his police career there, and Sonic going to SF to search for his bag of coins, while doing that, Dr. Robotinik chases them with Carrey's weirdest faces ever.
The adventure has lots of comedy and talks about friendship in a kid level.
In summary, the movie is fun, worth watching with kids or by yourself if you enjoy watching silly movies and if you played Sonic when you were a kid.
