Art Proofs

Fan art is always a fun creative outlet, especially when it comes to favorite characters. In this case, I drew the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. What made this particular piece challenging was the level of detail required to make the shells and armor look realistic. Ultimately, the goal was to create a sense of light and shadow, as well as the appearance of wear and tear from battle. The turtle's design is heavily influenced by a number of different turtle movies, with Leonardo's current iteration being the most prominent source of inspiration. However, I was also thinking about the 1993 movie where the turtles were transported to Japan.228275026_607438970245928_8227250180007363721_n_1_

If my memory serves me correctly, this was when I first learned about the Japanese spirit Kappa, which was ironic considering the similarities between the two. Adding the extra details to the shell and armor really added some extra work to this sketch, but I'm happy with how it came out in the end. I also wanted to share a few pictures from the last Comicon event I went to in Texas.245021040_580302616748367_1028864839106844398_n

I really enjoy going to these events as a bit of a vacation, and I'm hoping to try my hand at other artwork in the future. I don't get as many requests for traditional art as I do for fan art or manga, so hopefully, I can make a transition at some point. I love working on horror pieces or manga since those are another one of my interests.

As you can see in my pictures, I hand-draw all my photos on A3-A5 paper. I mainly do this because of financial conditions - anything larger and I would have to charge more and would have to limit the amount of detail in them. I have been drawing for almost 10 years now, something that my dad taught me. It gives me real joy sitting down to start every piece I also have a little brother who we are both starting to mentor on his drawing skills. It would be cool to see how three artists who learned from each other all adapted their own skills. We all produce fan-made art but you can very well see the difference. So when I get those pictures I will definitely love to show it off. Well, that's it for me! If you have a favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, let me know in the comments.
