A Geeky Guy’s Guide to Ironheart

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

I just finished Marvel’s Ironheart and then biggest component I can pay it is that when the last episode ended, I literally jumped off my couch and yelled “Nooooooo!!!!!”. I simply did not want it to end. I wanted more. This was exacerbated by the fact that it ended on a cliffhanger that had my wife and I disagreeing about what we thought had happened. IN my opinion, one of the coolest things a writer can do is make two rational people (well at least my wife is rational) disagree on what they had each just seen with their own eyes. I can’t wait until the second season… or perhaps the first season of The Young Avengers to find out if my wife or I were right. But damn it! We have to wait!

In case you have not read the comic books, it might be easiest to say that Riri Williams, a 20 year old genius from Chicago, is the new Iron-Man. But instead of being a billionaire who has a bottomless pit of money to draw from to make her suit, she relies on some college grant money and some “odd jobs” to build hers. That is until her college gives her the boot for charming people to do their homework. Ironheart begins with Riri trying to fund her creation by working for a gang who seem to be like modern day Robin Hoods (the leader is even named “the Hood”.)

The capers they pull off lead to some excitement and action. But the real draw of the show are the characters and the music. Riri has some relationships with some awesome characters played by excellent actors. Because all of the side characters are so interesting, there are no wasted scenes in Ironheart. I never looked at my phone once during the 6 episodes… which each like a mini movie. Even if I didn’t like the characters, the hip-hop, R and B, and dance soundtrack would have kept my attention. I loved the use of music in this show. It was a big part of what impressed me the most about Ironheart.

This show was more like six mini movies rather than a tv show. They clearly spared no expense in creating what could have been a cinematic experience. The music rights could not have been cheap. I was going to list the songs but that has already been done here with some samples of the songs. ++https://comicbookclublive.com/2025/06/24/ironheart-every-song-complete-track-list/++

And they clearly didn’t blow their whole budget on the music. The special effects were sensational! It honestly looked as good as any of the full length movies. One of my complaints about Captain America: Brave New World is that it looked like a TV show. It just looked kind of cheap. Ironheart is the exact opposite.

This show had plenty of action. It actually introduces three different villains for Riri to battle. Each was very cool in their own right. I can’t say who they were without including spoilers but just suffice it to say, that the writers had lots of opportunities to create some epic battle scenes.

TLDR; Watch Ironheart and then cross your fingers that Disney finishes the story ASAP.

Some movies make us deeply attached and we want them to never end and keep coming for the next part

Good recommendation what you give us, friend, and if I agree with that, when, for example, two or more people with different thoughts disagree on something related to the series, it is indicative that the director does an excellent job.

Isn't it Avengers that have extra bits in the closing credits? My daughtet always had us hanging on for those bits lol

avatar

They do! And so did this show. I should have mentioned that. Watch the last episode to the very end.

My daughter love these bits as they get her excited for what's to come next, she's 27, mad Avengers and Marvels fan 😊

What a great review!
Your enthusiasm really touched me — your disappointment with the cliffhanger was so vivid that I was like, “No!” as I read it! 😄
I haven’t seen Ironheart yet, but your review makes me want to start watching it now. The depth of character, the amazing visuals, and the great music — it’s such a rare combination.
And you’re absolutely right — when a story makes people think or disagree, that’s when you realize how strong the writing is.
I hope Disney brings out the next season soon!

When the last episode ended I was like “that’s it???” I need answers ASAP! Riri is literally one of the coolest Marvel characters I’ve seen—smart, young, and totally relatable

After such excellent references, we must watch the Ironheart series to draw our own conclusions.

I'm excited to see Riri Williams and follow her struggles, especially since she's not just Tony Stark 2.0, but has her own unique personality and circumstances as It brings a fresh vibe to the Marvel universe.

avatar

My wife is definitely rational. And we often argue about the movies we've seen. And I'm often wrong. And I admit my mistakes.

Ooh I love a show or movie that can actually get people talking. I had never even heard of this show before, but it sounds worth enough for a download. Hopefully Disney can see this one through so you can have some closure.

Marvel always seems to do a good job with music in their stuff. Obviously Guardians of the Galaxy is the best example for me, but even Luke Cage when it was on Netflix had some great pieces. The whole Raphael Saadiq scene in the club was amazing. I just finished up Daredevil Born Again and started the first episode of Andor the other day. Ironheart will be on my list soon, but I think I have a couple of movies I need to get caught up on first.

I am 100% with you on Guardians. The soundtracks for those movies are incredible. When I have people over, I know if I just play that on Spotify, everyone is going to love it. Good call on Luke Cage. I forgot about that show. That was my be thing I didn’t like about Superman. Gunn didn’t use his signature music moments. But he did use the score extremely well.

avatar

Yeah, Luke Cage was full of some juicy Hammond organs and soulful music!

I tend to enjoy more than one guilty pleasure when it comes to TV series. The Marvel universe, on more than one occasion, feeds my gluttony, so as a viewer, I can't deny that I am partly responsible for what is happening. I admit that, as a forty-something, I am not the target audience for this series. I know the character because he appears in a card game, and it's clear that most people don't care. As was the case with Agatha or Echo, it seems like a series that is more intended to introduce or be a preview of a larger story than to shine on its own or have any identity.

I decided long ago not to focus on bad reviews. Basically, what I ask of a superhero series is that it be entertaining, and this one seems to try, although the platform went all out. The whole series is too fast-paced. I quite enjoyed the first half, with its band of misfit thieves, but the second half left me generally unsatisfied. As a frustrated writer, I'd rather not talk about the script. I understand both your enthusiasm and the criticism and hatred of the fans. I didn't connect with Riri; I see her as closer, as a character, to Whiplash, the villain in Iron Man 2, than to Tony Stark. But I understand that a seed is being planted alongside Wiccan and Kate Bishop for those Young Avengers who are yet to come.

I have watched two seasons of Skirt Game yesterday. The first one I watched was much more interesting and the next season will definitely come because people are liking it a lot and some things are liked in such a way that it makes you want to watch it again and again. The way you liked this movie, I will definitely try to watch it too.

For a moment there I thought you were the rational one but when I read through it made more sense 😅😅😅

My take on Ironheart has been in doubt because I'm a huge Iron Man fan, but now with this, I am convinced I have to give it a shot
