I am an old man who was lucky enough to see Star Wars when it was first released in theaters almost fifty years ago. As a result, I have grown to despise the prequels released in the late 90s early 2000s. Of the three prequels, The Phantom Menace was the only one I saw in the theater more than once. Part of it was to really see if it was a good movie or if it was just my nostalgia that was causing me to like it. Sure enough, it was nostalgia. Although the movie is absolutely terrible, it has one redeeming quality: Darth Maul. Although he barely speaks, he quickly became one of my favorite villains in any movie. The Duel of the Fates between Qui Gon, Obi-Wan and Darth Maul is one of the greatest fight sequences in any movie let alone a Star Wars movie.

The fact that Maul is so incredibly awesome is why I have overlooked his return to the universe even though he was very clearly dead at the end of the battle. Dave Filoni, the greatest thing to happen to Star Wars in the last 40 years, knew that Darth maul deserved more screen time so he brought him back in the Clone Wars cartoon. Maul has returned in several other shows and movies as well. Thank the maker!

But thanks to Filoni I, and every Star Wars fan on earth, finally has what we have been craving: an entire show dedicated to one of the coolest characters in the Star Wars universe. So far Darth Maul - Shadow Lord is nothing short of sensational! It is perfect!

Unlike the Book of Boba Fett which tried to make Boba Fett an actual hero, Shadow Lord is allowing Maul to be what he is... a killing machine who will do whatever it takes to reach his goal. Luckily for the galaxy, the show begins with maul trying to hunt down other crime lords... so its a victimless crime. And to make it even better, Maul has a crew comprised of Mandalorians and other Dathomirian Zabraks (the species Darth Maul is). Every single scene with the crew is simply amazing! Although there have only been two epsisodesthere have been at least four times where Maul has entered a battle hooded and ends the battle by beating everyone's ass. It looks incredible!

This show is also doing something else pretty cool. It is including a police drama angle with detective named Looti Vario pursuing Darth Maul and his gang. It feels a little like Blade Runner.

So far the first two episodes have been perfect. I can't wait to see where is goes from here!

I'm not exactly an expert, nor is Star Wars one of my favorite movies, but I'd never heard of Darth Maul before. He seems like a very interesting character, because if he's capable of doing whatever it takes to achieve his goals, it's worth looking into it a bit more, and hopefully watching the series when it's available.

I love comic series, killer animation, Maul is pure menace. Best Star Wars animated start in years. Already hooked!

And yeah, bringing Maul back could’ve gone very wrong, but Dave Filoni really understood the character. The way he expanded Maul’s story in Clone Wars actually made him even more interesting than in Star Episode I The Phantom Menace.

Is it animated? That's what I haven't been able to figure out from the previews I have seen. I mean it looks like it, but then again I just don't know. I'll probably get around to watching this eventually. I'm so backlogged right now though!

It’s animated and it is beautiful! They spared no expense. The city scapes alone are incredible .

That series looks really interesting; it's animated and has 10 episodes, from what I could gather. Even if I'm not a big series fan, it could definitely be great to watch and learn a bit about the history surrounding all these characters.

I've been reading a bit and it has an interesting story to tell, helping me understand all the character's frustrations that led him to join the dark side of the Force, so I'll have to get Disney Plus to watch this great animated series.
