Star Wars Announcements!

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away…

Ok it was only last week and was only half way around the globe from me in Japan, but it was still a huge deal. It has taken me all week to process all of the awesomeness Star Wars fans have to look forward to over the next several years.

Biased by the fact that I am a video game addict, I’m most excited about Zero Company. Although they did not give a specific release date, I was relived to hear it is launching in 2026. With games like this, it really could have been several years until I could play it. Hopefully I’ll find a way to kill time while I’m waiting to kill some Imperial troops.

Luckily there is plenty to be excited about until then. First, Season 2 of Andor dropped this week. And it did not disappoint. I can’t do it just ice here so I’ll do a full review ASAP. But suffice to say, the best Star Wars television show continues to hold that title and doesn’t look like it will give it up any time soon.

Disney+ will be full of Star Wars content between now and the release of Zero Company. Andor Season 2 just started. An animated series called Star Wars: Tales from the Underworld drops on May the 4th (be with you). This show will feature a teacup of two of my favorite villains of all time: Asajj Ventress and Cad Bane. I know I won’t be the only one going crazy over this one as Cad Bane has a Boba Fett-like following with Star Wars fans in their late teens and early twenties.

Another animated entry will season 3 of Star Wars Visions set to be released on October 29, 2025. If you haven’t seen the first 2 seasons, go check them out. Not only are they cool stories but they are all done in a different style of art from Anime to Wallace and Gromit claymation. They are visual masterpieces that should not be missed.

Now here’s a big one… Darth Maul is returning in the animated series Maul: Shadow Lord in 2026. It takes place after the events of the Clone Wars cartoon and will center on Maul trying to rebuild his criminal syndicate. Being one of the few people who truly enjoyed the Han Solo stand alone movie, I was really bummed when it flopped. The main reason I was so upset is I feared it meant we wouldn’t get to see Darth Maul as a crime lord. Hopefully this will scratch that itch.

The big screen is not going to be ignored. We are going to get the first Star Wars theatrical releases since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker (sorry for bringing it up). The first will be John Favreau’s Mandalorian and Grogu movie. I loved the show so I’d be seeing this one opening day no matter what. But it was revealed Sigourney Weaver will have a role in the movie. Now I’m even more excited!

Did you ever want to see a Star Wars movie directed by the guy who did the Deadpool movies? Of course!!!! And we will be getting one in May of 2027 with Star Wars: Star Fighter. Not only that, it is going to star Ryan Gossling. I’m hoping this one is a less serious and pure fun entry into Star Wars canon.

Although they did not give specific details, I now have a New Hope that Taiki Waititi’s long waited Star Wars movie has a new life (kind of like Darth Maul). Lucasfilm announced that the project remains in development. I have LOVED everything Waititi has ever done so I simply cannot wait to see what he can do in the Star Wars universe. Hopefully I won’t have to wait so long that I finish Zero Company 6 times before the movie comes out.

Any Star Wars fans as excited as me? What are you looking forward to?

I just started watching Andor season 2! Loving all the new Disney additions so far. Other fans be damned to the explosion of Disney Star wars haha Adding this post to The Daily Degen HIVE Digest 😎

The way I look at it, before Disney bought Star Wars, there was a 0% chance I'd ever see any more good Star Wars content. Now, even though i don't love it all, I will definitely get some great Star Wars content!

Honestly, I love that Star Wars is experimenting with animation styles in Visions. I binged both seasons in one sitting before and seeing a 3rd season coming just made my year! Can’t wait to see what art styles they’ll use next!

I love they are giving opportunities to artists to do their thing!

Yes! A few days ago, I saw the announcement for a new Star Wars movie featuring Ryan Gosling, and I couldn't be more excited! I was hooked on the Star Wars films when I first saw Episode 4, and there was no going back after that. 😂I know a lot of people were not impressed with Episodes 7,8 and 9, but not me. They were great, and it was wonderful to see some of the original cast, including Carrie Fisher, for the last time. One of the main reasons I have Disney+ is because of Star Wars. 😂 I must admit I’m not as into anime series, but I plan to start watching them soon. As for Lego, I absolutely watch that...I have a whole collection of star wars Lego sets that I've built! I wasn’t overly impressed with the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, but since it features Ewan McGregor, I still gave it a chance. Oh, and I have a little confession...every December, I have a Star Wars movie marathon. ☺️At first, my husband wasn’t thrilled about it, he just couldn't understand how I could watch the same movies every single year. 😂But now he’s accepted it...he knows it’s either Star Wars or we have a disagreement.😂 I could talk about Star Wars for hours! I don’t meet many Star Wars fans, so I’m always happy to find someone who loves it as much as I do ☺️☺️💪

Your husband is a lucky man!!!!! I loved episode 7! And even a "bad" Star Wars movie is better than 90% of everything else out there. My favorite part has been handing it down to my kids. They both love Star Wars so I have been surrounded by Star Wars toys for my entire life! I relly hope they lean into some humor in the Starfighter movie. Sometimes pilots are funny, let them be.

Is it bad that I thought season 1 of Andor was kind of boring. Everyone has been talking about how phenomenal it was, and I just kind of felt like it was dragging on and on and on forever. It's not that I didn't enjoy it, I just felt it was tedious. Which honestly was a bit hard for me to wrap my head around because I'm a pretty big Star Wars fan. I still need to get caught up with that other live action show they just released. Skeleton Crew or whatever it was. I'm looking forward to the new stuff.

Nope. You are totally allowed. No gatekeeping here. I actually liked the slow burn and the feel it could have been any war drama with politics, spying and intrigue. But I can totally get that you wanted them to just get to the damn point!

I didn't hate it so much that I won't watch season 2. I just felt like the plot was all over the place and it annoyed me that he kept making stupid decisions.
