The Bardock episode is a Dragon Ball OVA that was released in 2011. It shows the second part of the story of Bardock, Goku's father. The episode begins with Bardock fighting Freezer's forces on the planet Vegeta. Bardock is outnumbered; however, he holds his own until he gets close to the ship of the evil emperor of the universe. In this episode, the dialogue changes a bit from the first OVA. Dodoria and Zarbon have some dialogue in the final moments on the planet Vegeta, and we see a more sinister Freezer interacting a bit more with our protagonist.

El episodio de Bardock es un OVA de Dragon Ball que se estrenó en 2011. Nos muestra la segunda parte de la historia de Bardock, el padre de Goku. El episodio comienza con Bardock luchando contra las fuerzas de Freezer en el planeta Vegeta. Bardock es superado en número; sin embargo, resiste hasta acercarse a la nave del malvado emperador del universo. En este episodio los diálogos cambian un poco respecto a la primera OVA. Dodoria y Zarbon tienen unos diálogos en los últimos momentos del planeta Vegeta, y vemos a un Freezer más sínico que interactúa un poco más con nuestro protagonista.

Finally, Bardock is defeated and apparently killed. However, Bardock is not really dead. Just before the explosion, he is sent back in time and now finds himself on a planet called Plant, the ancient name for the planet Vegeta. On Plant, Bardock meets two curious little alien villagers, Ipana and Beri, Ipana is a doctor so he cures Bardock a little with a secret medicine from his village. Bardock recognises that the medicinal liquid is something similar to the liquid in his medical machines.

At that moment, the villagers are attacked by space pirates who intend to conquer the planet. Bardock intervenes and saves the village. But then when the villagers want to thank him, he leaves the place saying that he doesn't care about what happens to them... Typical Saiyajin macho attitude. 🤣

Finalmente, Bardock es derrotado y aparentemente asesinado. Sin embargo, Bardock no está realmente muerto. Justo antes de la explosión, es enviado al pasado y ahora se encuentra en un planeta llamado Plant, nombre antiguo del planeta Vegeta. En Plant, Bardock conoce a dos pequeños y curiosos aldeanos alienígenas, Ipana y Beri, Ipana es médico así que cura un poco a Bardock con una medicina secreta de su pueblo. Bardock reconoce que el líquido medicinal es algo parecido al líquido de sus máquinas médicas.

En ese momento los aldeanos del pueblo son atacados por unos piratas espaciales que pretenden conquistar el planeta. Bardock interviene y salva a la aldea. Bardock hides in a cave to recover from his not yet healed wounds. At that moment, Beri arrives with a basket of food and supplies. This is where the Ova pulls me back a bit. Bardock ends up befriending the alien boy in a forced and shallow protagonist-friend-villain scene that makes no sense, but well, we'll let it pass, since it's an OVA and we only have a few minutes. I promote character development, but this Bardock character seems unnecessary, completely out of nowhere and I repeat, forced.

Then the villain of this OVA appears, a dwarf version of Freezer who seems to be his ancestor, a space pirate named "Chilled". It would be easier to take Chilled seriously if he wasn't wearing that weird orange leotard. Chilled doesn't manage to kill anyone, even though the aliens on this planet are actually disposable. But hey, we know that by this stage Dragon Ball wouldn't be as violent as it used to be.

Bardock se esconde en una cueva para recuperarse de sus aún no tan sanas heridas. En ese momento llega Beri con una cesta de comida y víveres varios. Aquí es donde la Ova me tira un poco para atrás. Bardock termina haciéndose amigo del niño alienígena en una escena forzada y superficial de protagonista-amigo-aldeano que carece de sentido, pero bueno, lo dejaremos pasar, ya que es una OVA y tenemos pocos minutos. Promuevo el desarrollo del personaje, pero este de Bardock parece innecesario, completamente salido de la nada y repito, forzado.

Luego el villano de esta OVA aparece, una versión más enana de Freezer quien parece ser su antepasado, un pirata espacial llamado "Chilled". Sería más fácil tomar a Chilled en serio si no estuviera usando ese extraño leotardo naranja. Chilled no logra matar a nadie, a pesar de que los alienígenas de este planeta son en realidad desechables. Pero bueno, sabemos que para esta etapa Dragon Ball ya no sería tan violento como antes.

Then Chilled hits Beri and that makes Bardock so angry that he becomes the all-powerful Super Saiyanjin, which... is really weird. But at this point I don't expect anything anymore. I mean, it doesn't bother me, but it's very unnecessary to the story, it comes out of nowhere and feels undeserved. Bardock defeats Chilled, apparently inspires the myth of the legendary Super Saiyajin, and then walks off into the sunset, all empowered, victorious...

Luego Chilled golpea a Beri y eso hace que Bardock se enoje tanto que se convierte en el todopoderoso Super Saiyanjin, lo cual... es realmente extraño. Pero en este punto ya yo no espero nada. Quiero decir, no me molesta, pero es muy innecesario para la historia, surge de la nada y se siente inmerecido. Bardock vence a Chilled, aparentemente inspira el mito del Super Saiyajin legendario y luego se aleja hacia el atardecer, todo empoderado, victorioso...

And well, folks. That's how the Ova ends. The Bardock episode is a touching story that explores Goku's family's past.

To hell with it! I didn't need it. What a way to ruin such a great character. Honestly, I don't care if with this story they wanted to achieve the transformation of Bardock's character from a planet conquering badass to a freedom fighter. It wasn't organic, The character disconnect and lack of development between one and the other really took me out of me. What a generic plot. I started watching this special very excited, and ended up confused.

Chilled is a flat, hollow villain, who also just seems stupid. The whole time travel thing is full of inconsistencies, as if we didn't already have a problem with the Cell saga.

Honestly... all these villagers from the old planet vegeta are so boring I was actually expecting them to die, bad character design. The animation is nice, it's good. But the special is boring, and it's not a worthy second part of Bardock's story.

¡Mis polainas!, no lo necesitaba. Vaya manera de arruinar a un personaje tan genial. Honestamente, no me importa si con esta historia querían lograr la transformación del personaje de Bardock de un rudo conquista planetas a un luchador por la libertad. No fue orgánico, La desconexión del personaje y la falta de desarrollo entre uno y otro realmente me sacaron de mí. Qué trama tan genérica. Empecé a ver este especial muy emocionado, y terminé confundido.

Chilled es un villano plano, hueco, que además, parece estúpido. Todo el asunto del viaje en el tiempo está lleno de incoherencias, como si ya no tuviéramos problemas con la saga de Cell.

Honestamente… todos estos aldeanos del viejo planeta vegeta son tan aburridos que en realidad esperaba que murieran, malísimo diseño de personajes. La animación es bonita, cumplidora. Pero el especial es aburrido, y no es una digna segunda parte de la historia de Bardock.
