Yesterday, I stumbled on a Nigerian movie that was packed with action and great artistic display, one that goes to show the thuggery and violence that happens in slums. It showed that great practise was put in and that the actors were capable in the way and manner they displayed their talents. From the movie, I notice that they were not regular actor but they acted so well and fitted their character so well.

Like I mentioned earlier, Son of the soil is a Nigerian action thriller movie directed by a Chinese man.the movie started when a young female waitress was gruesomely murdered after she witnessed first hand a murder case where a drug was forcefully injected into a prostitute and it killed her. To bury the story, the killed her. In the end her brother returns from abroad and takes on the case to seek justice for her.

One of the main reason why the movie stands out is because of its strong action sequences and it's clear depiction of the entirety of Lagos setting. The gun battles and hand to hand combat shows that the actors put effort and talent in action. Street level violence is one thing that is common in Lagos environments and it keeps people engaged.

Although, the plot is quite predictable because when a murder happens we all know that the next thing is revenge, either by the family member of the community at large. However the use of crowded streets, chaotic environment, language mix and all made it more realistic.

The movie also displayed the happenings around Lagos where greedy people prey on the weak and less privilege to enrich themselves. As we can see even the officer of the law was corrupt.
