MOVIE REVIEW : TED

Friendship is essential in every humans life, but what to do when that friendship is becoming a threat to other things that matter and needs you to prove yourself.

In the movie 'Ted', John had the ability to bring back an old friend he had when he was 8 years old and they reconnected so well even at 35years.the movie had a lot to do with friendship as one of it dominant theme. Even though John had a girlfriend of 4years,the relationship seemed to be falling apart considering the fact that he could not balance the friendship with Ted, his teddy bear and his relationship.

This almost cost him his relationship and he had to choose his girlfriend over his best friend of over 30years.this is so because he had to start leaving his age as a 35year old man, live life with his fellow age mate, work to cater for himself, get married and have a family.

Dominant themes in the movie

• the theme of friendship is eminently dominant, as we experience the true friendship between the teddy bear and John. Even at a point when we thought John had completely freed himself from his best friend to focus, when the freak of a father and son kidnapped him, John had to do all he can to save his best friend. Even the girlfriend helped him to find his friend. He thought he had lost his friend when he was sliced into two halves, he was hurt and cried, after trying all he could. But in the end the girlfriend made a wish for things to be normal again and for her life to be restored. Alas, Ted came back to life and everything seemed normal again.

• another theme is the theme of love and sex: for the sake of love John was ready to give up friendship and build a dedicated life with his fiancee. We all know that true love can break any barrier and alter anything. We also see where sex come into play that a teddy bear had sex with women, although all these were comedy, but the people loved Ted. We also find out that the boss at Lori's (John's girlfriend) workplace has had sexual encounters with his female staff.

All the movie was about is the feeling that sometime people want to reconnect with their younger self at times while been an adult. Also, friendship with good intention will definitely have a way to become balanced in our lives.
