[Boxoffice]
After a shorter, better period for cinema, the Boxoffice results are poor again. Or should I say, cinemas are still unable to recover from the crisis that began many years before Covid, and the pandemic has only finished them off. Only occasionally does a film come along that makes up for the lower earnings of others.
The 3rd part of Star Wars has returned to cinemas once again. This time because of the 20th anniversary (huh, I remember going to the cinema with my school friends). A few years ago, I tried to return to this brand, but I gave up after part 1, A New Hope (I watched it chronologically). I remember the prequels quite well and I know why I don't want to go back to them. The film earned 42 million, it will probably earn at least a few more, because it's the beginning of its run.
Captain America, on the other hand, is ending its run in cinemas. The film will probably reach 415 million (it currently has 414 and a little over 800 thousand dollars). The film did not have a strong advertising campaign, but there is talk about how much was added to the production. Allegedly, the film cost not 180 million, but over 380 million or more. If this is true, then Cap 4 is a big loss.
Another failure is definitely the latest live action remake of Snow White. At the moment, the film has not even earned its budget (209 million dollars), 14 million is missing.
Mufasa is definitely a success, which cost 9 million less, but earned 722 million. So there are 200 - 350 million in the black.
The same goes for Moana 2. Even assuming that both budgets (the film and the marketing one) totaled 400 million, the film earned over 600 million. There will be less money from VOD and other sources. The film has broken the $1 billion barrier.
Warner Brothers and Legendary also have successes under their belt. Their children's film earned $816.5 million. With a budget of $150 million and a fairly large, but not gigantic advertising campaign, they earned around $400-500 million.
Unfortunately, their film Looney Tunes (which they sold to distributor Ketchup Entertainment) was not a success. The film is ending its run and is unlikely to reach at least its budget of $15 million (and its current budget is $12.5 million).
DogMan definitely made money and maybe we'll see a sequel. It ended its run on April 17, earning a total of just over 143 million.
The latest Paddington recently ended its delayed run in the US (the premiere was later than in Europe for some reason). It made a total of 168 and a little over half a million. The budget says 75-90 million, so the earnings were probably small. But Paddingtons are such universal productions that it will probably have a bit of an impact on VOD.
Speaking of such films, The Penguin Lessons made 4.5 million dollars.
Returning to Warner's films, Sinners (supposedly a great film) has so far made 161.5 million dollars. The film cost 90 million, so it will probably make... I hope that positive reviews will make the studio keep this film in cinemas longer, because it has potential. Unfortunately, we will probably watch it on HBO Max, because we don't have time to go to the cinema. Mickey17, on the other hand, is definitely a financial flop. The film barely made more or less than what was invested in it. Apart from marketing, of course. The Alto Knights is also a flop. This film did not even make 1/4 of its budget (45 million dollars), it was taken out of theaters after exceeding 9.5 million.
On the other hand, the latest Amazon film (The Accountant 2) is getting very good reviews and has good earnings. 24.5 million dollars after 3 days of broadcast. The budget was 80 million dollars.
The latest Universal Pictures film (The Woman in the Yard) earned rather little, 23 million on a budget of 12.

The series will return in July and will be divided into 2 parts. The first half will debut in early July, the second at the end of the month. Unfortunately, we most likely won't get a sequel due to the drama surrounding the author's private life. From what I've read, if it was "just about his wife cheating on him and having sex with young girls", it wouldn't be so bad. Apparently Gaiman intimidated them and was generally not very good. It's true that modern corporations don't give a damn about the presumption of innocence, but I've read a bit about Gaiman's case and he doesn't look innocent.

Po krótszym lepszym okresie dla kina, znowu są słabe wyniki Boxoffice. Czy raczej powinienem powiedzieć, kina ciągle nie są w stanie wyjść z kryzysu, który zaczął się na wiele lat przed Covidem, a pandemia jedynie je dobiła. Jedynie czasem trafia się film, który nadrabia gorsze zarobki innych.
Do kin powróciła po raz kolejny, 3 część Star Wars. Tym razem z powodu 20 rocznicy (huh, pamiętam jak pojechałem do kina z kolegami ze szkoły). Kilka lat temu próbowałem wrócić do tej marki, ale poddałem się na 1 części, czyli A New Hope (oglądałem chronologicznie). Prequele pamiętam dość dobrze i wiem, dlaczego nie chcę do nich wracać. Film zarobił 42 miliony, pewnie zarobi jeszcze co najmniej kilka, bo to początek jego runu.
Z kolei Kapitan Ameryka kończy już swój run po kinach. Film prawdopodobnie dojdzie do 415 milionów (póki co ma 414 i nieco ponad 800 tysięcy dolarów). Film nie miał mocnej kampanii reklamowej, ale za to mówi się o tym, ile dołożono do produkcji. Podobno film kosztował nie 180, a ponad 380 milionów lub więcej. Jeśli to prawda, to Cap 4 jest dużą stratą.

Serial powróci w lipcu i zostanie podzielony na 2 części. 1 połowa zadebiutuje na początku lipca, 2 pod koniec miesiąca. Niestety, najprawdopodobniej nie dostaniemy kontynuacji z uwagi na dramat wokół prywatnego życia autora. Z tego co zdążyłem przeczytać, gdyby chodziło "tylko o zdrady żony i seks z młodymi pannami", to nie byłoby aż tak źle. Podobno Gaiman je zastraszał i był generalnie niezbyt dobry. Co prawda współczesne korporacje mają totalnie w dupie domniemanie niewinności, ale czytałem trochę o sprawie Gaimana i nie wygląda na niewinnego.
