Rumors circulated, players speculated, and Sony made the decision. Starting January 1, 2028, games will only be released in digital formats. Will this be permanent? There's a chance it won't. NrGeek (a good Polish YouTuber who talks about games) once said that the next generation might be transitional (we'll get both versions with and without a CD drive) and a lot depends on us, the players. It probably won't work, because as the SKG initiative showed, if corporations insist, they'll implement this decision sooner or later. True, it's more convenient, but I don't think it will actually lower game prices... It might cut down on a lot of costs, but let's face it – if 90% of copies are digital, Sony won't have any reason to lower them (even though game developers claimed otherwise). But let's not pretend – Sony only makes 10% of its profit from physical media, the rest comes from digital copies.
Let's also not forget that Valve started this with Half-Life 2 (which everyone was thrilled with at the time, as was the installation, with only a few complaining that it would be a problem), and then Bethesda started the fight. That's how progress works – we're moving towards convenience. Although, I admit, it's a funny irony that Sony introduced discs to the gaming mainstream 30 years ago, and now they're getting rid of them.

The head of Bethesda has spoken about Season 3 of the series and Fallout 5. The next installment will take place after the series ends (or at the end – he didn't rule out that some storylines will continue). Is this a good thing? Let's put it this way, classic Fallout games are a thing of the past. If Bethesda gives them to us, it will be in the form of a remake... Maybe a reboot, but I don't think they'll develop a new game like the old ones. F1 and F2 were demanding games even on their release day, and today, with recurring illiteracy and brain rot from not thinking, they would be downright torture for the younger generation. The Fallout series, on the other hand, is well-liked.

I'm waiting and will definitely watch it, but... The character design and trailer didn't impress me. The characters look like a modified version of the Naruto crew – we have Kakashi, Sakura, Sauke, and Naruto XD. The art style, etc., all look similar, so we're definitely in for a show. I have only one request – please don't let Arasaka appear in this series. She's completely unnecessary and distracts from the cool stuff. The world of CP2077 is much richer than some mega-corporation from Japan. It premieres this fall.

Prawdopodobnie nie uda się, bo jak pokazała inicjatywa SKG, jak się korporacje uprą, to wprowadzą tę decyzję prędzej czy później. Fakt, jest to wygodniejsze, ale nie sądzę, by wpłynęło to na obniżkę cen gier... Niby odejdzie wiele kosztów, ale spójrzmy prawdzie w oczy - jeśli 90% kopii jest cyfrowych, to Sony nie będzie miało powodów do ich obniżania (Choć twórcy gier twierdzili, że będzie inaczej). No ale nie ma co udawać - Sony zarabia tylko 10% z nośników fizycznych, reszta to cyfrowe kopie.
Nie zapominajmy też, że zaczęło to Valve swoim Half Life 2 (którym wszyscy byli wtedy zachwyceni, tak samo instalacją i tylko niektórzy marudzili, że to będzie stanowić problem), a potem Bethesda zbroją dla konia. Tak działa postęp - idziemy do przodu ku wygodnictwu. Aczkolwiek przyznam, zabawną ironią jest to, że Sony 30 lat temu wprowadziło płyty do gamingowego mainstreamu, a dziś się ich pozbywają.
