If you're one of the few hipsters that still use torrents, you've probably heard about the closure of one of the biggest torrent sites. Perhaps the greatest, and even if not, certainly the best. When I entered it, it felt like I was entering a VHS (or DVD, depending on how old you are) video rental shop, which would be connected to the upgraded pirate exchange that my father and I used to go to as a child and teenager. Everything appeared quickly, admins and uploaders were like wizards who had first-hand information and were priests for us (exchange clients) who gave us answers at a time when the internet was extremely expensive and Europe did not have such an extensive infrastructure in the form of fansites or at least editorial offices of computer magazines (if they existed at all). Today we have the internet, we know what and when it will come out (ah, I'll have to start looking at the DVD/BD release dates again, like when I was an older teenager, oh that's lazy), but Rargb was such a hub that brought together people from all over world and you could download everything there - old and new songs, games, movies, series...

There's no point in crying because there's bound to be a replacement for him in the future. It is true that torrents are becoming less and less popular thanks to the development of digital distribution, but they are still quite popular and probably will continue to be, considering how much poor quality content is produced by Disney, Netflix, and some gaming companies. Ok, craps have been around for a long time, but craps from big studios (or products that are too underdeveloped) were less common. The creators had to try hard for the premiere, because there was no such thing as a Day 1 patch (and even if, ordinary players were in a different situation than today - such patches sometimes appeared on CDs from the above-mentioned magazines, but from what I remember , this is only for popular titles). Ok, you can watch snippets or trailers, but it's still not the same. In the case of games, we will probably face a stock market crash soon, which will clear the market of poor companies that only prey on players, but what about movies? Well, a matter of conscience. I don't see anything wrong with it, but whenever I can, I watch movies and series through official sources. And if I watch a pirated copy and the movie is good, I will gladly buy a BD - after all, I have something to play it on, PS5. Going back to the beginning of this paragraph, the alternate will appear, that's for sure, I remember situations with anime torrents, KAA, PB (which is unsinkable) and more. Maybe someone will even take over the Rargb brand, if they can afford to maintain the servers... But will it be as good a service? I dare doubt.

Jeżeli należycie do tej nielicznej grupy hipsterów, która nadal korzysta z torrentów, to zapewne usłyszeliście o zamknięciu jednej z największych stron z torrentami. Być może największej, a nawet jeśli nie, to na pewno najlepszej. Gdy na nią wchodziłem, to czułem się jakbym wchodził do wypożyczalni filmów VHS (lub DVD, w zależności od tego, ile masz lat), która byłaby połączona z unowocześnioną giełdą z pirackim oprogramowaniem, na którą jeździłem z ojcem jako dziecko i nastolatek. Wszystko pojawiało się szybko, admini i uploaderzy byli niczym czarodzieje, którzy mieli informacje z pierwszej ręki i byli dla nas (klientów giełdy) kapłanami, którzy udzielali nam odpowiedzi w czasach, gdy internet był wybitnie drogi i w Europie nie było aż tak rozbudowanej infrastruktury w postaci fanowskich stron lub chociaż redakcji czasopism komputerowych (o ile one w ogóle były). Dzisiaj mamy internet, wiemy co i kiedy wyjdzie (ech, będę musiał zacząć znowu patrzeć po datach premier na DVD/BD, jak w czasach gdy byłem już starszym nastolatkiem, ach to lenistwo), ale Rargb był takim hubem, który zrzeszał ludzi z całego świata i można tam było pobrać wszystko - stare i nowe piosenki, gry, filmy, seriale...

Nie ma sensu płakać, bo na pewno w przyszłości pojawi się jego zastępca. Co prawda torrenty cieszą się coraz mniejszą popularnością dzięki rozwojowi cyfrowej dystrybucji, ale nadal są dość popularne i chyba nadal będą, biorąc pod uwagę fakt, ile marnej jakości contentu produkuje Disney, Netflix, niektóre firmy gamingowe. Ok, crapy pojawiały się już dawno temu, ale crapy od dużych studiów (lub produkty zbyt niedopracowane) były rzadziej spotykane. Twórcy musieli się postarać na premierę, bo nie było czegoś takiego, jak Day 1 patch (a nawet jeśli, to zwykli gracze byli w innej sytuacji niż dziś - takie patche pojawiały się czasami na płytach CD z w/w czasopism, ale z tego co pamiętam, to tylko w przypadku popularnych tytułów). Ok, można obejrzeć fragmenty lub trailery, ale to nadal nie to samo. W przypadku gier czeka nas zapewne niedługo krach na giełdzie, który nieco oczyści rynek z kiepskich firm, które tylko żerują na graczach, ale co z filmami? Cóż, kwestia sumienia. Ja nie widzę w tym nic złego, aczkolwiek jak tylko mogę, to oglądam filmy i seriale poprzez oficjalne źródła. A jak obejrzę piracką kopię i film jest dobry, to chętnie kupię płytę BD - w końcu mam na czym ją odtwarzać, PS5. Wracając do początku tego akapitu, zastępca się pojawi, to pewne, pamiętam sytuacje z torrentami anime, KAA, PB (którego nie da się zatopić) i nie tylko. Może nawet ktoś przejmie markę Rargb, o ile będzie go stać na utrzymanie serwerów... Ale czy będzie to tak samo dobry serwis? Śmiem wątpić.
