[Mortal Kombat]
We got the first full trailer for the Mortal Kombat sequel. I'm not a fan of the first installment, though I'd love to be. Initially, I waited for the trailers, which turned out to be excellent. I thought to myself, like some fans, that if the previews are so amazing, how great must the full film be?! Unfortunately, this one turned out to be garbage, but not as bad as Venom 2, Deadpool, or Zack Snyder's Justice League (actually, something like that would actually fit the series' style). It smelled like crap, but good. The kind you can wallow in and at least feast your eyes on.
In the case of Mortal Kombat, however... we saw everything in the trailer and promotional video, and what remained was often terrible. So what if there was a clear love for the source material? So what if the actors were well-chosen? So what if some things were good when so many other things were absolutely shitty? The pacing was terrible. The ideas for some scenes were hopeless! There were no fights—just an intro, a single blow, a fatality. Arcana that look like they were sucked straight out of crappy smartphone manga games. XD I won't even mention explaining them. I simply don't see any chance of a sequel succeeding. Except for one...
The second part will be a soft reboot. The milk is already spilled, and we can't fix it all, but we can still say that "the first part was supposed to be... but in reality, it wasn't." This is a fairly common practice with films that somehow achieved financial success. Critical success is out of the question, as it's just rubbish, but if the studio could raise the overall quality to average while maintaining the director's fanservice vibe, then... Maybe something would come of it. Nevertheless, I won't trust this director again without positive reviews from every possible source. The disappointment associated with his debut was a truly painful experience for me. The premiere is in early May. I can already smell the stench.

Ed Skrein will play Baldur. To be honest, when I first saw this screenshot, I thought it was an AI slop, but then I saw that it was definitely official news. I assume it's because of the filters applied to the image or something. And the actors don't look alike? Let me tell you, a movie isn't a game. You can create anyone you want. The acting aspect also matters, and as a film buff (and a gaming fan), when I have to choose between an actor and a perfect likeness, I choose the former. It ALWAYS turns out better. Dostaliśmy pierwszy, pełny trailer sequelu do filmu Mortal Kombat. Nie jestem fanem pierwszej części, choć bardzo chciałbym nim być. Najpierw czekałem na trailery, które okazały się doskonałe. Myślałem sobie, podobnie jak część fanów, że skoro zapowiedzi są tak zajebiste, to jak wybitny musi być pełny film?! Ten niestety okazał się być śmieciem, ale nie takim jak Venom 2, Deadpool, czy Justice League Zacka Snydera (W sumie, takie coś w sumie pasowałoby do stylistyki serii). Tam czułem woń gówna, ale fajnego. Takiego w którym można się potaplać i przynajmniej nacieszyć oko.
W przypadku Mortal Kombat natomiast... Wszystko zobaczyliśmy w trailerze i filmie promocyjnym, a to co zostało, było często fatalne. Co z tego, że widać było dużą miłość do materiału źródłowego? Co z tego, że aktorzy zostali dobrze dobrani? Co z tego, że część rzeczy była dobra, jeśli mnóśtwo innych rzeczy było absolutnie chujowych? Tempo fatalne. Pomysły na niektóre sceny - beznadziejne! Walki, których nie ma było - tylko wstęp, po jednym ciosie, fatality. Arcana, które wyglądają, jakby wyssano je żywcem z gównianych mangowych gierek na smartfony XD. O ich wyjaśnieniu nie wspomnę. Po prostu nie widzę szans na powodzenie sequela. Poza jedną...
Druga część będzie soft-rebootem. Mleko już się rozlało i całości nie naprawimy, ale ciągle można uznać, że "część pierwsza niby była... ale tak naprawdę to nie". To jest dość częsta praktyka w przypadku filmów, które jakimś cudem osiągnęły sukces finansowy. O sukcesie krytycznym nie ma mowy, bo to zwykłe barachło, ale gdyby studio podciągnęło ogólny poziom do przeciętnego, zachowując fanserwisowy klimat reżysera, to... Moze coś by z tego wyszło. Niemniej ja już 2 raz nie zaufam temu reżyserowi bez pozytywnych ocen z każdej możliwej strony. Zawód związany z jego debiutem był dla mnie autentycznie bolesnym doświadczeniem. Premiera na początku Maja. Już czuję smród.
