Les traigo una reseña de una película que me ha impactado de forma muy especial más allá que la temática de la guerra que siempre es un tópico difícil de digerir.
Las imágenes son capturas de pantalla que hice al film El barón rojo (2008), de Nikolai Müllerschön.

Here is the review of a movie that has shaken me in a special way, without mentioning that the war topic is always hard to digest.

Estrenada en el año 2008 y dirigida por Nikolai Müllerschön, The Red Baron es una película bélica germano-británica que trata la vida del Barón Manfred von Richthoffen –interpretado por Matthias Schweighöfer en la versión adulta- y el escuadrón de aviación que él dirigió durante la Primera Guerra Mundial.
Los primeros minutos de la película se centran en la vida que el Barón y su escuadrón llevan dentro del campamento, ya sea entrenando o en combate, y en cómo se desenvuelven en un ambiente no militar.
Debido a la cantidad de aviones que consigue derribar, Manfred von Richthoffen se crea una reputación que siente que debe mantener ya que ha acostumbrado a la gente al alto estándar que entonces consiguió por hacer su trabajo de una forma extraordinaria.
Released in 2008 and directed by Nikolai Müllerschön, The Red Baron is a German-British war film about Baron Manfred von Richthoffen –played by Matthias Schweighöfer in the grown up version- and the aviation squad he during the First World War.
The first minutes in the movie are focused on the Baron´s life and the routine he and the squad have inside the camp, as well as training or in combat, and how they behave in a no military environment.
Due to the amount of planes he takes down, Manfred von Richthoffen creates this reputation and tries to keep a good pace in the killings because of the high image people have about him.
Al poco tiempo de haber empezado la obra, nos presentan a la enfermera Käte Otersdorf, de quien el Barón se enamora. Ella le corresponde y viven un idilio hasta que la cruda realidad de la guerra y el deber de ir al frente hace que sus citas sean esporádicas y von Richthoffen deba dividir su tiempo entre Otersdorf a la vez que mantener su imagen como el héroe de Alemania.
Little time after the film had started the nurse Käte Otersdorf is introduced. The Baron falls in love with her and the feeling in reciprocal and they have an affair until the cruel reality of war made their dates sporadic so Richthoffen had to torn his time between his duty and Kate to keep the image as Germany´s heroe.
No sé si de verdad el Barón pensaba de esta forma pero en la película de Müllerschön, Richthoffen decía varias veces “yo derribo aviones, no hombres” o “yo sólo disparo si puedo ganar”. También se le oyó decirles a sus superiores la verdad acerca de sus posibilidades de ganar -las cuales eran muy bajas- y recibió malas caras por su sinceridad.
I don´t know if the Baron used to think like that but in Müllerschön´s movie, Richthoffen said many times “I take down planes not men” or “I only shoot if I can win”. He also said to his superiors the truth about the real likelyhood to win the war –which were too low- and facing their reactions of his words.
This is a good story line for a 2008 movie. Nice review ✨
