Now that the current world population has crossed the 8 billion mark according to worldometers.info the BBC is determined to make that new milestone a statement in the Doctor Who series. Why? Nobody knows. David Tennant and Matt Smith did it. Peter Capaldi couldn't get out of it. The BBC is going to make the next actor to play The Doctor say it very soon.

"Important? What's that mean, important? Six billion people live here, is that important?"

In a few decades we will topout at 10 billion and then start declining. So when the population hits 9 billion for the second time I wonder what the doctor will say.

The Doctor would probably say, "10 billion? What a Lilliputian Kardashev Type I civilization you got there." Then The Master would say, "Indeed a small populated world. Sure would be a shame if a rogue Time Lord were to ... " Then it drops to 9 billion.
