Tootsie
Solo los cinéfilos y los viejitos como yo recordarán esta divertida película del siglo pasado, efectivamente, aunque nos cueste mencionarlo de esa manera, los años pasan y los siglos también.
Tootsie fue a la vez una enorme apuesta y una pequeña decepción, tanto para el gran actor Dustin Hoffman como para su director Sidney Pollack quienes no lograron el Oscar al mejor film ni al mejor actor aunque si se le adjudico a Jessica Lange como mejor actriz de reparto, merecido por cierto.
El argumento se basa en las penurias de un actor demasiado perfeccionista que no consigue trabajo justamente por ese detalle que no es del agrado de directores, guionistas y representantes de actores, para lograr un papel se disfraza de mujer, sacando lo mejor de si y llegando al éxito deseado. En el camino se enamora de una compañera de elenco y allí comienzan sus problemas, como mujer no puede tenerla y debe tomar una decisión al respecto.
Ese argumento principal se toma para la realización de una obra de teatro en nuestro medio local donde muchos talentos se unen para lograr una muy buena comedia musical.
Como se sabe, Buenos Aires tiene el reconocimiento mundial por ser la principal capital de Sudamérica respecto a su oferta cultural, dentro de tantas expresiones artísticas sobresale el teatro donde especialmente los fines de semana se exponen más de cien obras en los muchos teatros instalados en la ciudad, hay para todos los gustos por supuesto siendo el más prestigioso el teatro Colón donde se conjuga un programa de conciertos, ballet, óperas y otras obras de reconocidos autores e intérpretes internacionales.
También el drama, la comedia, los musicales son representados en muchos barrios de la ciudad aunque siempre se rescata la enorme cantidad de salas disponibles sobre la Av. Corrientes, lugar tradicional de los espectáculos y los restaurantes. Desde hace algunos años el gobierno de la ciudad con buen tino redujo el ancho de esta arteria a la mitad que luego de determinado horario se convierte en peatonal para que la gran cantidad de público que concurre a ver los espectáculos o a disfrutar de una buena cena tengan mayor libertad para circular.
Volviendo a la obra Tootsie, nos divertimos enormemente viendo un gran despliegue de actores y bailarines, una singular puesta en escena con decorados conformados por una mezcla de elementos reales y otros animados por computadora.
Pasamos una excelente tarde de domingo y aunque me perdí de ver la carrera de fórmula 1 de Miami y el partido entre River y Boca, no me arrepiento de la decisión, fue un rato agradable y disfrutamos de una obra de excelente calidad.
Only moviegoers and old people like me will remember this fun movie from the last century, indeed, although it is hard for us to mention it that way, the years go by, and the centuries too.
Tootsie was both a huge bet and a small disappointment, both for the great actor Dustin Hoffman and for its director Sidney Pollack who did not win the Oscar for Best Film or best actor. However, Jessica Lange was awarded as best Actress in distribution, deserved by the way.
The plot is based on the hardships of an actor who is too perfectionist and cannot get a job precisely because of that detail that is not to the liking of directors, screenwriters, and actors' representatives. To achieve a role, he disguises himself as a woman, bringing out the best in himself and arriving at the desired success. Along the way, he falls in love with a co-star and there her problems begin, as a woman, he cannot have her and he must make a decision about it.
That main argument is taken to realize a play in our local environment where many talents come together to achieve a very good musical comedy.
As is known, Buenos Aires is recognized worldwide for being the main capital of South America in terms of its cultural offer. Among so many artistic expressions, the theater stands out, where, especially on weekends, more than one hundred works are exhibited in the many theaters installed in the city. In the city, there is something for all tastes, of course, the most prestigious being the Teatro Colón, where a program of concerts, ballets, operas, and other works by renowned international authors and performers are combined.
Drama, comedy, and musicals are also represented in many neighborhoods of the city, although the enormous number of rooms available on Av. Corrientes, the traditional place for shows and restaurants, is always rescued. For some years now, the city government wisely reduced the width of this artery by half, which after a certain time becomes pedestrianized so that the large number of people who come to see the shows or enjoy a good dinner have greater freedom to circulate.
Going back to the play Tootsie, we had a lot of fun seeing a great display of actors and dancers, a unique staging with sets made up of a mixture of real and computer-animated elements.
We had an excellent Sunday afternoon and although I missed watching the Formula 1 race in Miami and the match between River and Boca, I don't regret the decision, it was a pleasant time and we enjoyed a work of excellent quality.
