Greetings CineTV friends, it is a pleasure for me to participate in this wonderful contest Favorite Movie Animal Character. When I read what it was about I didn't hesitate to be part of this great initiative, since I have always liked animals, in fact, the first movies we see as children are about animals, like Lassie for example, or Flipper, they are very old I know. That's why I think many of the movie buffs here may not have seen them or know about them.

First I got to see them on TV as a series, then came the movie. In cartoons the animals are present, among them I can mention the Lion King, Nemo, characters of the fox and the hound, the aristocats, the ugly duckling, Dumbo, in short there are so many, that I could spend a long time mentioning them all.

Since I was a child I have loved animals, I have had the privilege of living with pets of all kinds, especially dogs, cats if I have not had. For this contest, I have chosen two animals with which I identify episodes of my own life and I can attest to the unconditional love and loyalty that only they can give us, they are two well-known dogs, Hachiko and Bailey.

Hachiko

This story many know, it is very old, however, I plunged into the interesting adventure of watching it in July 2017. I had heard of that story that took place in Japan, of that Akita breed dog that died at the train station waiting for his master. The man who had him in his care died, but Hachiko never understood and spent the rest of his life waiting for his return. In honor of his love and faithfulness, a statue was built in his name at that station, where a great love story will be engraved forever.

On facebook, every time it was a year since that memorable event, many users shared the story, so it was impossible not to watch it. What inspired me to watch the movie? There was simply an event that struck a chord with me. On my own I was helping several animals in street conditions, at that time I had three protégés, one of them got sick and I paid for his operation to save him. I was sad because I did not see his recovery very clear, but thank God his health improved. While that sadness enveloped me, I was curious to see that movie whose story was only a story for me in a social network called Facebook.

I identified with the story completely, just by the fact of taking care of these three little animals. In the film, Professor Parker Wilson, played by Richard Gere, took care of Hachi and was the only one who understood him. The dog got used to accompanying him every day to the train station to go to work. My three protégés would go with me to the bus stop and wait with me until the company transport arrived to pick me up. Some of my co-workers would laugh when they saw me at the bus stop with the dogs.

Another anecdote that happened to me was when I visited a friend one day and she was surprised to see the dogs coming home with me. This is an action very similar to what Hachi did, without a doubt, a great show of love. I can say that Hachi lived there, in the hearts of those three noble creatures, who upon seeing me in the distance when I came home from work, would happily run to greet me.

Highlights of HACHI

His fidelity until the day he died, and it was just that quality that made him a memorable hero. His perseverance, of staying cold nights and whole days waiting for his master. His love and the great connection he made with the only person who took pity on him and understood him. Otherwise, he would never have stayed at the train station. He would have lived all those years with the family of that teacher who loved him as if he were a son.

The scene I liked the most

Hachi was happy again in the final scene, when on that cold night, he closed his sad eyes forever and saw the teacher again. At last he was reunited with his master and remembered those happy days when they played together. It was there that his agony ended.

I also liked very much the fact that the people who were at the station and worked there, knowing what was happening to the dog, fed him all that time, that was really a beautiful gesture.

What I did not like

The indolence of the people, at least at first. The professor's wife didn't want the puppy, she didn't care that he was a baby, she wanted him out of her house.

The saddest thing

Hachi never understood that Professor Parker was never coming back. People would talk to him, they would tell him not to wait for him because he would never come back. Seeing him sad at the train station and watching him every day as he looked forward to his master getting off one of those train cars was devastating. All those years of waiting for the impossible. It broke my heart.

A great connection

In life, I got to know that unconditional love and fidelity of a dog does exist. That even though they are old, they will always be eternal children, playful, noble and that in those three protégés you can live a little piece of the life of that memorable dog named Hachiko.

Bailey

He is the protagonist of a film called the Reason to be with you, the purpose of a dog or your best friend. This animal told how time and time again he was reborn in different lives. He wondered what the purpose of his life was until he finally understood it.

In all the lives he had, the most remarkable one was when he was a Golden Retriever and his name was Bailey. Ethan becomes his master since he adopted him as a child and they have had a great connection ever since.

This movie was another inspiration because of what happened to my protégé, first I saw the story of Hachiko and then this one. In those sensitive days movies about dogs were my favorite.

Bailey's highlights

That innocent and playful spirit that characterizes most dogs, I say most because there are some that are very serious, really touched me. Also her conviction and perseverance to discover what her life's purpose was and to reconnect with Ethan. Deep down she had the hope of finding him again, because he marked her life even though in her other lives she had masters who loved him very much and were wonderful people.

Bailey had many names, he reincarnated in many races, he was once female, but his essence was always the same. In addition, he was very intelligent, he proved it by his actions, the tricks he learned and always remembered throughout his different lives. Obviously, there is something fictional about remembering past lives.

The scene I liked the most

When at the end he meets Ethan again as an adult, and Ethan in turn recognizes him despite being of a different race, and even more, because of the passing of the years. Something truly incredible. He recognized him by his behavior and when he did that memorable trick he taught him as a child.

What I hated about the movie

In one such life, Bailey was kept by a couple who didn't care for him, didn't give him love and then abandoned him to his fate. Again the indolence, but this time much more extreme.

The saddest part

Every scene when Bailey died in his various lives, that was sad. However, the one that struck me the most was when his name was Bailey and he was a Golden Retriever. The dog narrated that because he was old he didn't feel like playing anymore, he felt tired all the time and just wanted to sleep. He was taken to the vet and the vet told Ethan's parents that he had to be put down. Before the final goodbye, they call Ethan to say goodbye to him, that scene was very emotional, impossible not to cry.

The connection in my personal life

With all my dogs, those who have been my pets and also my protégés, I have developed a bond of love, affection and thousands of indescribable affections. Each one with different personalities, playful, faithful, noble, intelligent, whom I have said goodbye to with pain when it has been their turn to leave. I have loved them all for being special beings, because they choose us to make our lives happier.

This was my participation in this contest, hoping that many more people will join this wonderful initiative.
