The Movie Civil War Review

I’ve just seen the movie “Civil War” and I have to say that I didn’t know how to feel about it. Here’s my take on it.

Firstly, let’s talk about the setting:
In this film, America is a screwed up place where there’s a civil war taking place. Sounds intense right? Yeah, it damn well does. This story follows some reporters trying to make their way from New York City to Washington D.C with some stops in Vegas.

Now, let me talk about the characters: The main leads are played by Kirsten Dunst and Wagner Moura. They did a great job especially with their chemistry on screen. Then there is Kelly Spain who takes up the role of a newbie photojournalist. She may still be wet behind the ears but she has got guts.

I liked one thing about this movie; it shed light on photojournalism. Do you ever see those shocking photographs in magazines? This movie shows that it is not just about pictures. It is tough and may make you go crazy.

Now, let me talk about Jesse Plemons, who only appears in a single scene but still manages to outshine the main actors. He makes a cameo appearance that leaves an indelible mark. It’s like he can act!

To politics: The movie does not take sides as such. Instead it explores human nature during times of civil war. Heroes and jerks are some of the characters you will meet. It is a cautionary tale that reminds us how ugly wars can be.

But here is what – people thrive on internet arguments about politics, and this film isn’t left behind either! They will overanalyze every single bit of it and find different interpretations from them all.

One thing that I liked was the way in which the movie did not make the apocalypse glamorous; it showed war as a horrible thing, without much fanfare, period end of story. It is not meant to be romanticized either; it’s just a nasty situation for all involved.

That said, let us talk about some things that bothered me about this movie. Sometimes the editing seemed off, meaning certain scenes were simply omitted or cut too soon. As for the ending…don’t even get me started on that. This made me feel like they hurried through it because their time or money was running out and left something important unexplained.

Despite this, “Civil War” is an overall good film. Superior performances are given by the actors; one can feel tension with each other and there were moments that could send shivers down anyone’s spine. It is one hell of a ride that doesn’t need alcoholic drinks to enjoy.

So, if you love war thrillers then give “Civil War” a go. However, don’t expect it to have all the answers or provide you with a flawless ending either. After watching this crazy flick you’d keep reflecting until after credits roll!
