It’s one thing to watch a movie and another to root nonstop for the characters. Nothing seems to make sense until this heavenly match is made. Yes, that was me a few hours ago, immersed in this wonderful movie. While watching this movie, I couldn’t believe how I’ve missed the cheesiness in romantic movies, and it felt so good to watch such movie again.

About the Movie

What happens when your dislike for children changes at the sight of a naughty teenager who you wouldn’t have thought could change your life completely? This is the story of Atikah in Art of Heart.

Art of Heart explores the lives of two broken people, their healing process, growth, and how they find love again.

In Art of Heart, we are introduced to a beautiful young lady, Atikah, an artist and lawyer whose dislike for children made her conclude she was never going to have any child of hers, but fate had a different plan for her. Opening her heart to love again we see a reformed Atikah, capable of loving and accepting children.

Amidst dealing with an eviction notice from her new landlord, she is blown away by a teenage girl, Didi, who turns out to be her new landlord’s daughter.

Things take a different turn, and we see Atikah not only getting fond of Didi but falling in love with Diaga, her new landlord and Didi’s father.

Love is used as a powerful tool to create new relationships and also mend broken ones. The love between Atikah and Didi birthed the love between Atikah and Diaga, Damilola and Chibaby, and also mended the broken relationship between Atikah and her father.

My Thoughts…

While this movie was nice to watch for me, it was too predictable. I knew Atikah was going to end up with Didi’s father from the beginning, and I knew she was going to play the role of a loving female figure to a teenager without a mum. As cliché as the storyline may be, there were moments in the movie that stole my heart. I could relate to most of Atikah’s decisions and antics.

We got to laugh, at the facial expressions, comebacks and unspoken emotions by some of the characters.

The movie was set in only four locations and it was pretty short yet refreshing to watch. I didn’t enjoy how some of the supporting characters were not fully developed, as we could tell that they had their own stories and they added more spice to the movie too. Setting the pace for most actions, their contribution to the storyline cannot be go unnoticed.

Creating a storyline that is relatable to many is beautiful, and this was achieved in Art of Heart.

If you love romantic movies and would love to see two adults bickering and falling in love eventually, I recommend Art of Heart, and trust me you’ll enjoy it. Go and be smitten!

With the prevalent themes, clean cinematography, plot, and amazing dialogue, I think I’ll rate this movie a 7/10.
