“Everything I learned, I learned from the movies.”

― Audrey Hepburn

Happy new week, movie fanatics and everyone in the Hive!

This is my first post in this community and I thought about sharing some of my ultimate favorite romantic films that we (husband included) have watched time and again over the years. I won't be divulging much information in consideration to those who would want to watch them.

Notting Hill

The seemingly ignorant William (Hugh Grant) met Anna Scott (Julia Roberts) at his bookstore and how they fell in love is quite a story. Aside from this being starred by two of my favorite actors, the plot is brilliant.

There were romance between other couples too. The film made me giggle, laugh out loud, feel sad, happy, tearful etc. I believe that love happens, even in the most unexpected places and between unexpected people.

The Vow

Said to have been inspired by a true-to-life event. Rachel Adams (Paige) and Channing Tatum (Leo) have great chemistry in this film. It brought me to several emotional levels - ecstasy, sadness, feel good, pity, amazing and hopeful.

The 'love' between Paige and Leo was tested by a memory loss. Can the heart even remember the love when the mind has forgotten the person one was initially in love with?

Serendipity

https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/ifarmgirl/23xKvZhzYmwnuqbwDBccanodwvLi6m2YUV7mjVCvqi4QKtXU61SX6RzbVDT5KhUHkrQvF.webp

One Christmas romance classic. Sarah (Kate Beckinsale), an English girl who believes in fate referring to it as 'Serendipity' or 'fortunate accident' met Jonathan (John Cusack) while buying gloves in Bloomingdale and although she felt a 'spark', she left it to chance.

The story is fascinating and humorous too. I adore the chemistry between these two lovely actors. I guess love (or fate?) can find its way no matter the odds, time, and distance.

Pride and Prejudice

"Sometimes, the last person on earth you want to be with is the one person you can't be without." - the film tagline

Darcy (Matthew Macfadyen), a dashing yet snob English nobleman fell in love with Elizabeth (Keira Knightley) from a lower-class family. Darcy, being a proud gentleman as he was, had a hard time admitting his feelings to the young woman.

There are more stories within it and some family struggles too. I can say, true love conquers pride and yes, all!

A Walk to Remember

This film is memorable to me as it was the first film I've watched with the husband back when we started dating. This always makes me wipe a tear or more even after watching it many times.

It's about a romance developed between two young people (Shane West as Landon and Mandy Moore as Jamie) who are completely different. Love can be learned too, I guess. And when it happens, even death won't let it go away.

Ever After

A Cinderella fairy tale of some distant past in a distant land. I love how the story unfolded. I feel it just keeps getting better each time I watch it.

If you loved the original Cinderella story, this is a must-watch. Amongst all the other Cinderella variants I have seen, this is my favorite. It's quirky, funny, romantic, emotional, magical and captivating! I do believe that love is forgiving and transcends all, even a 'mighty' kingdom.

The Notebook

"Read me this story and I'll find you." - Allie

Allie Hamilton (Rachel McAdams) from a rich family and Noah Calhoun (Ryan Gosling), a local worker met when Allie was on a summer vacation in Seabrook and they fell in love with each other but were met with many obstacles.

What caught my heart about this film was how it portrayed what the couple had gone through then found themselves again at a different time. Does the heart remember what the mind couldn't? I say, love transcends all, even time.❤

These are just a few of many that we consider our all-time favorite. How about you, what's on your romantic movie memory bank?

Thank you and cheers!

Thank you for the list of favorite romance movies. I have seen a few, but romance isn't my favorite genre. Thanks again!

Thank you and it's a pleasure :) May share some action-packed films next time hehe or adventure too.

avatar

It brought me to several emotional levels - ecstasy, sadness, feel good, pity, amazing and hopeful.

Almost like an emotional rollercoaster. A good movie (and especially a good book) can easily do that. This is a feature of good movies and good books, that is certain.

avatar

That is so true, such doesn't make us feel flat so to speak. Thank you for your great remarks💗

OMG, sis! These are my favorite movies of all time! I could watch them over and over and over again. I would never get tired especially The Notebook! And I quote,
"So it's not gonna be easy, it's gonna be really hard. And we're gonna have to work at this everyday, but I wanna do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever. You and me. Everyday." Huhuhuhu

avatar

Same here, and oh my! You did memorize that from the Notebook, awesome sis!❤

avatar

Hehe. Yes, sis. Super duper love that movie ❤❤❤

Many thanks, I appreciate all that you do❤

I remember Family guy taking the piss out of Hugh Grant in Noting Hill that was stumbling all over his words all the time.

Then I watched Notting Hill after this and I could never watch it again. It was ridiculous how much it was like him. 🤣

avatar

Hahaha, now I can't stop laughing🤣

avatar

I could relate to most of them. I love them too. They are one of the best of bests.

avatar

Glad you like them too, thank you💗
