The Age of Slavery

Times have changed, the world has changed, although in some parts, not entirely, this growing ideology, this thinking, this rejection, mistreatment and racism, still remains, whether you are black or white, rich or poor, or of another nationality, this discrimination still holds, as the years go by.

Los tiempos han cambiado, el mundo ha cambiado, aunque en algunas partes, no del todo, esta creciente ideología, ese pensar, ese rechazo, maltrato y racismo, aún se mantiene, seas blanco o negro, rico o pobre, o de otra nacionalidad, esa discriminación, aún se sostiene, asi pasen los años.

How to remember those stories, that we read in books, and saw in movies, about racism, slavery, rejection towards people of another colour, making them less, humiliating them, abusing them, as if they were not worth, as if they didn't matter, a time, where these people, had to find a way to survive, in that world of rejection, abuse and violence.

Based on real events, and released in 2014, 12 Years of Slavery, is the name of this film, where we see the life of a black man, being taken from his hometown, and sent to the other side where slavery was still maintained, to be sold as such, this was a great shock for him, since he was a cultured, educated man, a musician, and therefore he was forced to be taken away from everything he always knew, to submit to a life full of violence, abuse, humiliation, impotence, among others.

Como recordar esas historias, que leíamos en los libros, y veíamos en las películas, sobre el racismo, la esclavitud, el rechazo hacia las personas de otro color, haciéndolos menos, humillándolos, abusando de ellos, como si no valieran, como si no importaran, una época, en donde estas personas, debían buscar la manera de sobrevivir, en ese mundo de rechazo, abuso y violencia.

Basada en hechos reales, y estrenada en el año 2014, 12 Años de Esclavitud,asi se llama este film, donde vemos la vida de hombre negro, ser sacado de su ciudad natal, y enviado al otro lado donde aún se mantenía la esclavitud, para ser vendido como tal, esto fue un gran impacto para él, puesto que era un hombre culto, educado, un músico, y por ende se vio obligado a ser alejado de todo lo que siempre conoció, para someterse a una vida llena de violencia, maltrato, humillación, impotencia, entre otras.

Solomon Northup, is the name of this man, who through this film, tells us and shows us in some way everything he lived, suffered and endured, 12 years, being treated as a slave, working for a cruel man, forcing him to work at all hours, without mercy, treating him like another slave.

A story that shows us the cruelty of the human being, the indolence, the brutality in all its letters, just because they wanted to, they took advantage of their status, to belittle the weakest, in this case those African-American people, humble, without money or anyone to defend or support them.

Moments of pain, anguish, desperation, impotence, suffering, misery, is what is reflected in this story, a man who in spite of all that he had to live, far from his family, his wife, his children, fought until he could not, to survive, to stay on his feet, with the dream, the illusion of one day being reunited with his family, and to get out of that hell in which he was.

Solomon Northup, es el nombre de este hombre, el cual a través de esta película, nos cuenta y muestra de alguna forma todo lo que vivió, sufrió y padeció, 12 años, siendo tratado como esclavo, trabajando para un hombre cruel, obligándolo a trabajar a todas horas, sin piedad, tratándolo como un esclavo más.

Una historia que nos muestra la crueldad del ser humano, la indolencia, la brutalidad con todas sus letras, solo porque querían podían, se aprovechaban de su estatus, para menospreciar al más débil, en este caso esas personas afroamericanas, humildes, sin dinero ni nadie que loas defienda o apoye.

Momentos de dolor, angustia, desesperación, impotencia, sufrimiento, miseria, es lo que nos reflejan en esta historia, un hombre que a pesar de todo lo que le toco vivir, alejado de los suyos, de su esposa, de sus hijos, lucho hasta más no poder, para sobrevivir, mantenerse de pie, con el sueño, la ilusión de algún día volver a reencontrarse con su familia, y salir de ese infierno en el que estaba.

It is a very strong story, and as I said cruel, in every sense, we see scenes that traumatise, disturb, those tortures, both to women and children, that mistreatment, the beatings, the whippings to which they were subjected, without mercy, without compassion, and to which this man was forced to commit, just to survive, because this was the world in which he lived.

Undoubtedly this film, left nothing to hide, showing at that time as was slavery, as were the Americans, but is there any truth in all this, as I said this is something that they show us on screen, as based on real stories, but we know that in the cinema, always tends to hide or show what they want and it suits them.

The time of slavery, was the worst of all times, this cruelty, inhumanity, to which people of colour were subjected, has no name; before the eyes of God, we are all equal, it is here where one wonders, who created this, who invented all this discrimination, this ideology, this evil, only man.

But they say that there are more of us who are good, we must be good, and although there is still a lot of evil in this world, there are people who seek to do good, and that is why this man, in the end, managed to obtain his freedom.

Es una historia muy fuerte, y como dije cruel, en todos los sentidos, vemos escenas que trauman, perturban, esas torturas, tantos a mujeres como a niños, ese maltrato, los golpes, latigazos a los que eran sometidos, sin piedad, sin compasión, y a los que este hombre se vio obligado a cometer, solo para sobrevivir, porque este era el mundo en el que vivía.

Sin duda esta película, no dejo nada de ocultar, mostrando en aquella época como era la esclavitud, como eran los norteamericanos, ¿pero hay de cierto en todo esto?, como dije esto es algo que ellos nos muestran en pantalla, según basado en las historias reales, pero bien sabemos, que en el cine, siempre tiende a ocultar o mostrar lo que ellos quieren y les conviene.

La época de la esclavitud, fue la peor de todos los tiempos, esta crueldad, inhumanidad, a los que fueron sometidos las personas de color, no tiene nombre; antes los ojos de Dios, todos somos iguales, es aquí donde uno se pregunta, quién creo esto, quien invento toda esta discriminación, esta ideología, esta maldad, solo el hombre.

Pero bien dicen, que los buenos somos más, debemos serlo, y aunque aún existe mucha maldad en este mundo, hay personas que buscan hacer el bien, y es por ende, que este hombre, a la final logro obtener su libertad.

We cannot leave aside the great performances we see in this film, starting with the remembered actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, playing the role of Solomon; here we see a man with a lot of pain, rage, but at the same time strength, to survive, and get ahead, staying alive, despite everything.

On the other hand, we have the actor Michael Fassbender, playing the role of that cruel, arrogant, psychotic, stubborn man, who mistreated and abused the slaves, believing that they were his property, considering himself their lord and master.

Along with them, we will see another list of great actors, who also gave life to other characters, who in some way helped and influenced Solomon's life.

No podemos dejar a un lado las grandes actuaciones que vemos en esta película, empezando por el recordado actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, interpretando el papel de Solomon; aquí vemos a un hombre con mucho dolor, rabia, pero a la vez fortaleza, para sobrevivir, y salir adelante, manteniéndose con vida, a pesar de todo.

Por otro lado, tenemos al actor Michael Fassbender, interpretando el papel de ese hombre cruel, soberbio, psicótico, obstinado, el cual maltrataba y abusaba de los esclavos, creyendo que eran de su propiedad, considerándose su dueño y señor.

Junto con ellos, veremos otra lista de grandes actores, quienes también dieron vida a otros personajes, que de alguna forma ayudaron, e influyeron en la vida de Solomon.

12 Years of Slavery, is a film worth watching, those stories that leave you that bitter taste of the past, they mark you and show you that other side of the human being, when greed, selfishness, takes over you, without caring about anything or anyone, without thinking about the damage you cause, only about your own benefit.

And in turn the will to live, despite all the conditions you have, the desire to be free, to be with your loved ones, enduring everything that comes your way, with the sole objective of fulfilling your dreams, to continue surviving, to show the world that you can handle anything.

A film, which had a good direction, scenography and performances, dramatic, real, full of many emotions, if you have not seen it, I hope you do, share with us what you thought, if you like this kind of story.

12 Años de Esclavitud, es una película que vale la pena mirar, son esas historias que te dejan ese sabor amargo del pasado, te marcan y te muestran ese otro lado del ser humano, cuando la avaricia, el egoísmo, se apodera de ti, sin importarte nada ni nadie, sin pensar en el daño que causes, solo en tu beneficio propio.

Y a su vez la voluntad de vivir, a pesar de todas las condiciones que tengas, el deseo de ser libre, de estar con los tuyos, aguantando todo lo que se te presente, con el único objetivo de cumplir tus sueños, de seguir sobreviviendo, de demostrarle al mundo, que puedes con todo.

Una película, que contó con una buena dirección, escenografía y actuaciones, dramática, real, cargada de muchas emociones, si no la han visto, espero lo hagan, nos compartan, que les pareció, si te gusta este tipo de historia.
