Feliz inicio de semana, mis amigos cinéfilos, un gusto compartir con ustedes nuevamente.

Hace mucho que no veo películas o series, me entretengo en otras cosas, y el tiempo se me va tan rápido, que terminas preguntándote qué hiciste hoy, pero bueno, hace poco hice un espacio, y me tomé un tiempo para mirar esta película, la cual había intentado ver en algún momento, y ahora decidí retomarla.

Es una historia antigua, que muchos ya conocemos, pero el año pasado sacaron una nueva versión con este actor, Óscar Isaac, el cual se ha vuelto famoso por sus interpretaciones; estamos hablando de Frankenstein.

Happy start to the week, my fellow movie lovers—it’s a pleasure to be back with you all.

It’s been a while since I’ve watched any movies or TV shows; I’ve been keeping myself busy with other things, and time flies by so fast that you end up wondering what you even did today. But anyway, I recently made some time for myself and sat down to watch this movie, which I’d tried to watch at some point before and decided to give another shot.

It’s an old story that many of us already know, but last year they released a new version starring this actor, Oscar Isaac, who has become famous for his performances; we’re talking about Frankenstein.

Synopsis:

A man decides to take on human nature; more than that, he decides to fight against death. A scientist, who believed he had the power or the gift to avoid it—or perhaps to prolong it—creates a being from the dead parts of other bodies; it cannot be called human, because it is not, and Victor Frankenstein, this man, this scientist, knows it, upon seeing that what he created was not what he expected; therefore, he rejects it; this is where the chaos between them begins.

Opinión:

Pero qué empeño de estos científicos en querer luchar contra la naturaleza, contra los designios de Dios; bien sabemos que vinimos a este mundo de paso, hoy estamos, mañana no sabemos, y enfrentar a la muerte es algo ilógico, ¿qué resultado puede tener eso?

La historia de Frankenstein comienza con una trágica pérdida: el perder una madre es el dolor más grande que cualquier hijo puede tener, no tiene explicación, y vivir con esa sensación, esa pérdida, es muy duro, y sí es cierto que nos gustaría resucitarla, volverla a la vida; es lo que él quería, darle esa segunda oportunidad a las personas, de saltar la muerte.

But what a determination these scientists have to fight against nature, against God’s will; we know full well that we are only passing through this world—here today, gone tomorrow—and defying death is illogical; what possible outcome could that have?

The story of Frankenstein begins with a tragic loss: losing a mother is the greatest pain any child can experience; it defies explanation, and living with that feeling, that loss, is very hard. And yes, it’s true that we would like to bring her back to life; that’s what he wanted—to give people a second chance, to cheat death.

Pero las cosas no siempre resultan como uno quisiera. Es lo que le pasó al crear este otro ser. Él esperaba poder demostrarle al mundo que sí pueden convivir de nuevo, ser humanos, poder pensar y hablar por ellos mismos. Sin embargo, al ver que no es así, quiso deshacerse de él. Solo que no contaba con la magnitud de este ser y lo que podía llegar a convertirse.

But things don't always turn out the way you'd like them to. That's what happened when he created this other being. He hoped to prove to the world that they could coexist again, that they could be human, and that they could think and speak for themselves. However, when he saw that this wasn't the case, he wanted to get rid of him. He just didn't count on the magnitude of this being and what it could eventually become.

Sin dejar de mencionar a esta mujer, que dentro de su inocencia trató de congeniar con este ser, sin saber realmente de dónde viene; solo quería darle la oportunidad de ser normal, pero bien comprendemos que en esta historia nada es normal, empezando por Frankenstein, al querer tener más poder que el propio Dios; es algo completamente absurdo y fuera de lo humano.

Not to mention this woman, who, in her innocence, tried to get along with this creature, without really knowing where it came from; she just wanted to give it the chance to be normal, but we understand all too well that nothing in this story is normal, starting with Frankenstein, who wanted to have more power than God himself; it is something completely absurd and beyond human comprehension.

En Conclusión:

Es una historia sobrenatural, para mi gusto, demasiado larga; creo que pudieron hacerla más precisa, pero supongo que de eso se trataba, puesto que la trama está dividida en dos partes, desde la versión del científico hasta terminar con la historia de su creación.

Que si vale la pena verla, bueno, si eres fanático de este personaje, seguramente te atraerá; la historia te convence y atrapa, con buenas actuaciones, grandes personajes, un relato creativo y lleno de contexto.

In conclusion:

It’s a supernatural story that, in my opinion, is too long; I think they could have made it more concise, but I suppose that was the point, since the plot is divided into two parts, starting with the scientist’s perspective and ending with the story of his creation.

As for whether it’s worth watching, well, if you’re a fan of this character, you’ll surely be drawn to it; the story is compelling and gripping, with strong performances, great characters, and a creative narrative rich in context.
