Sometimes people find the movie a failure because they don't like certain scenes in the movie. For example, I read comments that there was too much blood in a murder scene, man, it's a murder scene, of course there will be blood. If a movie makes you uncomfortable, first you have to think if that's the purpose of the movie. I think that's really the point. That's why I must say that I also found the movie successful. I haven't seen the movie because it's not my favorite genre but from what I saw in the trailer it looks like it accomplished what it was trying to tell.

Yep! Sometimes it's easy to not realise that. You get uncomfortable and emotions take over, you forget that it's all intentional. The director wants to make you feel that way. The same with games. It's often enough very carefully crafted to ensure the audience has these types of reactions. Rather than just getting disgusted, it's good to realise that's the purpose and to see it's working well.
