Dollhouse (2025)
Hi everyone. In recent months I've been a bit hooked on some horror movies; it's like opening a little treasure chest of memories, since these films have been of Asian origin and in my memory they were very similar to the ones I watched as a child at my grandmother's house. So, one in particular caught my attention a few days ago, mainly because of the similarity in the feeling of fear to things I have at home and how curious it is. So, well, taking advantage of the fact that I was able to watch it and that it was very interesting, today I'll give you my opinion about "Dollhouse".

En los últimos meses he estado un poco enganchada a algunas películas de terror; es como destapar un pequeño baúl de recuerdos, ya que estas películas han sido de origen asiático y en mis memorias justo eran similares a las que veía de niña en casa de mi abuela, por lo que una en particular llamó mi atención hace unos días y más por esa similitud de la sensación de miedo con cosas que tengo en casa y lo curiosa que es, por lo que, bueno, aprovechando que la pude ver y que fue muy interesante, hoy les daré mi opinión acerca de "Dollhouse".
Directed by Shinobu Yaguchi and released in 2025, this Japanese horror film tells the story of Yoshie, who, after tragically losing her five-year-old daughter in a home accident, falls into a deep and consuming depression. To cope, she buys an antique doll and begins caring for it as if it were her own child. Everything seems fine; Yoshie even has another daughter years later. But this is precisely when things start to go wrong, because this doll is not ordinary and harbors a cursed secret, leading to a series of dark and paranormal events, like something out of a nightmare.
Dirigida por Shinobu Yaguchi y estrenada en 2025, es una película de terror japonesa que nos cuenta la historia de Yoshie, la cual, tras perder de manera cruda a su hija de cinco años en un accidente en casa, entra en una profunda depresión que la va consumiendo y que, para calmar eso, compra una muñeca antigua que empieza a cuidar como si fuera su hija. Y todo parece estar bien; incluso Yoshie llega a tener otra hija años después y justamente es donde todo empieza a ir mal, debido a que esta muñeca no es común y esconde algo maldito, convirtiéndose en un sinfín de acontecimientos oscuros y paranormales como si estuvieran en una pesadilla.
While it may certainly be very similar to other well-known films, this one truly has a factor that gives it great value: it's more raw, showing the process where the doll reveals the curse it carries, as well as those moments where you wonder what's really inside it or the unexpected nature of some scenes. It's quite shocking how it goes from being a means to heal the pain of loss to a threat to anyone who has it in their hands, with moments that catch you completely off guard. If you're watching it in the dark, as was my case, you might even turn on the light just in case XD, especially since I have some dolls that size, hehehe.
Aunque ciertamente puede ser muy similar a otras películas conocidas, esta, la verdad, tiene un factor que le da un gran valor y es que es más cruda, mostrando ese proceso donde la muñeca va mostrando la maldición que lleva, así como esos fragmentos donde te preguntas qué es lo que realmente está adentro de ella o lo inesperado de algunas escenas, y es bastante impactante el cómo pasa de ser un medio para sanar un dolor de pérdida a una amenaza para todo aquel que la tenga en sus manos, teniendo momentos donde te agarra por sorpresa de una forma que, si la estás viendo como fue mi caso a oscuras, llegas a prender la luz por si acaso XD y más que todo porque tengo unas muñecas de ese tamaño, jejeje.
From the ambient music to the lighting at key moments, this film effectively captures the viewer's attention. I must say, I watched it with a partner, and while some parts were unsettling for me, the other person felt the same way, and this continued throughout several scenes. It's possible that the film evokes terror in various ways, which I feel is a positive aspect, as it allows it to be enjoyable for both horror fans and those who aren't used to the genre. This film left me pondering its immersive nature at times and how it requires paying close attention, as it becomes somewhat convoluted towards the end. Nevertheless, it's very, very good, and from my perspective, highly recommended for anyone looking for a good time. Desde lo que es la música ambiente, como esa iluminación en ciertos momentos claves, logra captar bien la atención de quien observa esta historia y debo decir que esta la vi en conjunto y, si bien en algunos fragmentos me daba impresión, a la otra persona, viceversa, y así durante varios momentos, por lo que posiblemente logra causar ese terror de diversas formas, lo cual siento es positivo, ya que permite ser disfrutable y llegar a los que les gusta el terror como a los que no o están acostumbrados. Esta película me dejó pensando mucho en cómo llega a ser inmersiva en momentos y cómo hay que restarle mucha atención, ya que llega a ser algo enredada al final, pero no deja de ser muy, muy buena, siendo desde mi punto de vista muy recomendable para aquel que quiera pasar un buen rato. Wow para empezar, me encanta el cine de terror y tu reseña logra transmitir muy bien la atmósfera de la película y el trabajo en la dirección. Me parece interesante cómo aborda el duelo desde una perspectiva tan cruda así que sin duda esta tengo que verla. gracias por compartirla 😁
