My Hero Academia: Another anime down the drain
I wouldn't call myself a fan of this anime, but it got me hooked on the screen for the first 4 seasons. Nice characters, unique abilities and their personal struggle. Now this is the stuff that I like and love. It reminded me of Naruto, how each character was unique in terms of their abilities and their motivations. I might say its inspired by Naruto, perhaps too inspired. Because while the ability and fighting in early seasons were beautiful, everything boils down to nothing? A big Nothing.
I dont use the word Hate easily, but I kinda hated the entirety of the final season of this anime. The show sidelined everything it worked on from seasons 1 to 5. And basically turned it into a half-baked copy of The Avengers: Endgame climax. The show even picked the Iconic portal scene and the hero assemble stuff. And copied it as it is. I cannot imagine the betrayal a true MHA fan might have felt at the last season. It was totally offbeat and a mess. Yes, these are the words I am using: offbeat and Mess.
Because there was a rhythm in the MHA from the beginning. It starts slow, season 1 was basically an introduction to the world, Season 2 had the best villain and story, I say, Stain was written to connect. Imagine a character so impactful that the world shifted by the ideology. The villain was weak, but you know what I am going to write a fullblown post about him later. Moving on to Season 3, the characters showed gaining more muscle and fighting power-ups. Also gave us a glimpse of the menacing villains. Next, the season also served us with a cold, calculating villain; Overhaul dude kinda carried the entire season for me. Because he seemed to be the centre point, and everyone was just reacting to his terrifying presence.
And from that point onward, it was just downhill. I did enjoy the Endevour redemption arc and the whole spy thing by Hawks, but that's about it. The whole paranormal liberation war was something like forced, and dont get me started on the dark deku mode. It was totally disconnected from me. I think the writer was trying to show how the darkness affected the hero character, and it changes him from instead. Like something similar to “You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.” But it misfired, I guess. And honestly, by this time, I think the roster for the heroes and villains was too long to keep track.
And the final nail in the coffin was the Final season. I am finding it hard to explain my anger and disappointment is the anime. I mean the show which gave us villains like Stain, Overhaul, OneForAll gave us some hatemass or something. Basically, a physical manifestation of the hate inside the villains body, and that the villain is a good guy consumed by hatred, that's all. I mean, what crap it is. Characters we loved were sidelined. Most of the episodes were either inner talk or motivational talk, And there is still some good left in the villain nonsense. Yaar at this point, I think I'd better watch HunterxHunter or FMA again for the 4th time.

I understand your anger and disappointment with the end of MHA. But it's not surprising, since it's not the first time I've seen this reaction; the same thing happened with the manga, and thousands of fans went wild online. I respect other people's opinions and I agree that this anime had a lot of potential in terms of story, characters, and villains.
But in the end it concluded as it did because of what the creator himself tried to teach us with this story. I liked the ending, although I admit that it was only for the moment and right now the matter feels somewhat bittersweet because of certain details that were wrapped up in a rather strange way. But I'm not going to say that this last season was all bad either, since there were unforgettable moments, at least in my opinion.
In the end, the anime tried to convey the typical message of teamwork, the value of bonds, and all that. And however many details it has, it's an ending, and that's what matters. Everyone will interpret it in their own way. I prefer to wait until the season is completely over before giving my opinion. But that's just my case; everyone is free to have their own opinion.
I'm not saying that MHA is the best action anime in history, but it is one of my favorites for many reasons. Of course, I'm not going to put it in the same position as FMA or HXH because that's impossible. 😅
Likewise, I enjoyed reading your 100% honest opinion of this anime.
Bro, I was venting out my disappointment, that's all.

I know how stressful getting the ending right can be (I haven't finished anything lately. LOL!!)
But what really ticked me off was the treatment some of my fav characters got.. Like Red Riot, Gran Torino and a few others. Not only that the tonal shift from the asskicking to 'let's talk about it' just too heavy for me to digest.
One can say that I am pissed, as I wasn't able to say bye to some of the characters.
But hey!! I think Stain, Lemillion, Twice, and Toga are gonna stay with me for a while.
But thank you for sharing your thoughts.
I also consider those characters you mention to be very valuable. But in the end, if I'm not mistaken, I think they give each one their due place and importance. I understand that MHA has forgotten about many secondary characters with a lot of potential to offer. I think it's also compared a lot to Naruto there, as you mentioned in the post. xD
Oh, by the way, I forgot to tell you that I've been watching Naruto Shippuden for the umpteenth time lately, and I've noticed that even in what you say about the "final villain being just a bundle of hate" and all that, well, guess what? Obito is practically the same. And not only Obito, many villains in Naruto share the same pattern of having had a difficult childhood or life and growing up with hatred inside them, which turned them into villains. I think even Madara has a similar development because of his younger brother and all that. 🤔
But All For One (the main villain of MHA) really impressed me, since he's a very different kind of villain from anything mentioned before. A being who was evil from birth. Wow!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Bro!! Naruto has that Shitty Alien nonsense in the end. It ruined a good anime for me. 😂

I always had Madara as the final boss, but the writer went ahead and gave us..
I agree with the Obito similarity, there. I never noticed it before. He, too, was consumed by hatred and kinda lacking the depth. For me, Pain was a better Villain than Madara and Obito.
Hahahahahaha, yeah... What they did at the end of Naruto Shippuden was a real disappointment and a crazy thing to do, honestly. I also hoped Madara would be the final villain (the Last Boss). But nah, they had to throw in a pointless plot twist out of nowhere, just because. 🙂
And yes, Pain was by far one of the best villains Naruto ever had.
You bothered to check Boruto and how they massacred the OG characters.?
I remember my daughter loving the hell out of this one when she was much younger, she had posters up in her room and everything. Then one day she told me she was "leaving the fandom" as apparently it was very toxic, the posters didn't go back up when she redecorated her room (she will sometimes rearrange the stuff that's stuck up if new ones are added or in the rarer instance of new furniture is acquired) and I haven't heard anything about it since.
Can't say it was one that interested me personally though but I am unrealistically fussy ^_^;
Can't blame her for getting out of the fandom. I imagine the fandom turning into group therapy sessions after the final season. This is what happens when you have millions of characters, and everyone gets sidelined in the finale.
Also, they turned a full-blown action fest into a talk show.
Let me explain my feelings about the final season. 🤣
