CineTV Contest: Pet Sematary
Hello everyone, today I share with you my participation in the CineTV Contest #67, which deals with the favorite suspense film, in this subject it is to appreciate that the best will always be Alfred Hitchcock because he managed to create those atmospheres of true suspense with the camera position and also the music, a true master, I also highlight, for example, Dario Argento with the film Suspiria which maintains the suspense to the maximum. But for my post I chose one of my favorite movies of all time, by the director Mary Lambert this is the only movie I know of her, but obviously the novel on which the movie was based was written by the master Stephen King, writer supremely good and that his works are iconic, I think this was the first movie I saw based on one of his books, I'm talking about Pet Sematary from 1989 (the year I was born by the way 🤭).
Hola a todos, hoy comparto con ustedes mi participación en el Concurso #67 de CineTV, que trata de la película de suspenso favorita, en este tema es de apreciar que sl mejor siempre será Alfred Hitchcock porque lograba crear esas atmósferas de verdadero suspenso con la posición de la cámara y además la música, todo un maestro, también destaco por ejemplo a Dario Argento con la película Suspiria la cual mantiene el suspenso al máximo. Pero para mi post elegí a una de mis películas favoritas de toda la vida, de la directora Mary Lambert está es la única película conozco de ella, pero obviamente la novela en la que fue basada la película fue escrita por el maestro Stephen King, escritor supremamente bueno y que sus obras son icónicas, esta creo que fue la primera película que vi basada en uno de sus libros, hablo de Pet Sematary de 1989 (año en que nací por cierto 🤭).
Pet Sematary (1989)
I think that for most people this movie is well known because it became a classic of horror and suspense, but I must give a little explanation of the plot in case someone has not seen it yet, it is about a doctor named Louis who moves with his family to a new house in Maine (Stephen King's novels always take place there), he has a wife, a daughter and a young son named Gage, in the new house they meet a very friendly older neighbor named Jud , this gentleman warns them that the road is dangerous because many trucks pass by at high speed. He also later tells Jud some strange things related to the nearby pet cemetery.
Creo que para la mayoría de la gente está película es muy conocida porque se convirtió en un clásico del terror y del suspenso, pero debo dar una pequeña explicación de la trama por si alguien aún no la ha visto, está trata de un médico llamado Louis que se muda con su familia a una nueva casa en Maine (las novelas de Stephen King siempre ocurren allí) , el tiene una esposa , una hija y un hijo pequeño llamado Gage, en la nueva casa conocen a un vecino mayor muy amable llamado Jud, este señor les advierte que la carretera es peligrosa porque pasan muchos camiones a alta velocidad. También le cuenta a Jud más adelante algunas cosas extrañas relacionadas al cementerio de mascotas que esta cerca.
To summarize, beyond the pet cemetery is a cemetery that was used by natives many years ago, but they stopped using it after a curse affected the inhabitants there. So when Louis's daughter's cat dies, the neighbor takes it to be buried there, then at dawn the cat comes back to life but with a bad smell and I feel very different in terms of behavior. The days go by and everything returns to relatively normal, but other paranormal things happen and also the tragedy that the youngest son Cage is hit by a truck and dies.
Para resumir, más allá del cementerio de mascotas está un cementerio que era usado por nativos hace muchísimos años, pero que dejaron de usarlo luego de que una maldición afectar a lo habitantes de allí. Así que cuando el gato de la hija de Louis muere, el vecino lo lleva para que este lo entierre allí, luego en la madrugada el gato vuelve a la vida pero con mal olor y siento muy diferente en cuanto a comportamiento. Los días pasan y todo vuelve relativamente a lo normal, pero ocurren otras cosas paranormales y también la tragedia de que el hijo menor Cage es atropellado por un camión y muere.
You can already imagine that what happens is that the father in his despair sends his wife and daughter to the mother-in-law's house and plots to bury the child in the abandoned cemetery in the hope that he will come back to life, despite that the neighbor warned him not to do it because not everyone returns to life well, some return turned into something non-human, into a ruthless and demonic being. This is how Louis does it regardless of the consequences and what had to happen happened, his son returns to life but being an evil being.
Ya se pueden imaginar que lo que sucede es que el padre en su desesperación, envía a su esposa e hija a casa de la suegra y trama enterrar al niño en el cementerio abandonado con la esperanza de que este vuelva a la vida, a pesar de que el vecino le advirtió que no lo hiciera porque no todos regresan a la vida bien, algunos regresan convertidos en algo no humano, en un ser despiadado y demoníaco. Es así como Louis sin importar las consecuencias lo hace y pasó lo que tenía que pasar, su hijo regresa a la vida pero siendo un ser maligno.
This film generates too much suspense due to different factors, on the one hand the premonitory fact, because previously a boy who was run over by a car that Louis attends to on his deathbed warns Luois not to go near the cemetery, which already gives us to understand that strange lake something happens but nobody knows, on the other hand the neighbor seems to know the truth but still transmits that knowledge to Louis but in a very fragmented way, as if the cemetery itself prompted him to tell that for Louis to make use of that land, too the scenes of the trucks that go by at high speed, it is as if the viewer feels at every moment that something bad is going to happen, but the least one believes is that it will be the little boy who will end up lifeless, the scene of the death is not explicit, which is good, because no one wants to see a small child destroyed by a truck, but seeing the father's face and the way the scene was handled gives a very great sense of anguish.
Esta película genera demasiado suspenso por diferentes factores, por un lado el hecho premonitorio, porque previamente ya un chico atropellado al que Louis atiende en su lecho de muerte le advierte a Luois que no se acerque la cementerio, lo cual ya nos da a entender que lago extraño pasa algo pero nadie sabe, por otro lado el vecino parece conocer la verdad pero aún así transmite ese conocimiento a Louis pero de manera muy fragmentada, como si el mismo cementerio lo impulsar a contar eso para Louis haga uso de esa tierra, también las escenas de los camiones que pasan a alta velocidad, es como si el espectador sintiera a cada momento que algo malo va a pasar, pero lo que menos uno cree es que va a ser el niño pequeño el que terminará sin vida, la escena de la muerte no es explicita, lo cual es bueno, porque nadie quiere ver a un niño pequeño destrozado por un camión, pero ver el rostro del padre y la manera en que se manejó al escena da una sensación de angustia muy grande.
When the neighbor notices that the resurrected return as something non-human, it also generates a great suspense, it is not known how the child will arrive, how such a small creature can become an evil being, while the father falls asleep After burying his son, the movie reaches its point of greatest suspense, in my case I was almost breathless waiting for the moment the child appeared, I couldn't believe that a child who just a few minutes ago was a being that provoked tenderness could become a terrifying image, the music used in the film in the scene where the father wakes up and discovers the neighbor's dead body is something that generates a lot of fright, but especially when the body falls hanging from the wife it is something that I did not expect at all, also in the scene when the father finally ends the child's life, this child begins to cry as if it were truly his son, that is to say as if his soul was still in that body and it's kind of painful to look at, no parent could handle something like that without going crazy, right?
Cuando el vecino advierte que los resucitados regresan como algo no humano, genera tambien un suspenso muy grande, no se sabe como va a llegar el niño, como una criatura tan pequeña puede llegar a convertirse en un ser maligno, mientras el padre se queda dormido después de enterrar a su hijo, la película alcanza su punto de mayor suspenso, en mi caso estaba casi sin respirar esperando el momento en que apareciera el niño, no podía creer que un niño que hace tan solo unos minutos atrás era un ser que provocara ternura se podría convertir en una imagen aterradora, la música que usaron en la película en la escena en que el padre despierta y descubre el cuerpo muerto del vecino es algo que genera mucho susto, pero sobre todo cuando cae el cuerpo colgado de la esposa es el algo que no me lo esperaba para nada, además en la escena cuando el padre finalmente acaba con la vida del niño, este niño empieza a llorar como si se tratara verdaderamente de su hijo, es decir como si su alma aún se mantuviera en ese cuerpo y es algo doloroso de ver, ningún padre podría soportar algo así sin volverse loco, o no?
Likewise, for me the most suspenseful part is the end because it leaves many questions in the air, it leaves in suspense how the arrival of the wife will be who also tries to resurrect herself, be good or bad, will she return to life as herself or will she return evil to repeat the cycle of death 👀, is something that could leave anyone unable to sleep, but right at the last second of the movie is when we realize the truth.
Asimismo para mi la parte de mayor suspenso es el final porque deja mucha preguntas al aire, deja en suspenso como va ser la llegada de la esposa que igualmente trata de resucitar, ser buena o mala, volverá a la vida como ella misma o volverá malvada a repetir el ciclo de muerte 👀, es algo que podría dejar a cualquiera sin ganar de dormir, pero justo en el último segundo de la película es cuando nos damos cuenta de la verdad.

Terrorífica, película. de Joven me fascinaban las películas de misterio pero pasado el tiempo no mucho desarrolle una forma de temor excesivo al punto que me daba pesadillas y me despertada dando gritos y asustando a toda la familia. ahora no las puedo ver de noche. muy explicita su forma de describir la película. Que pena que ahora no puedas ver algo así, pero entiendo que a veces el cerebro causa ese tipo de sueños como una defensa. Saludos 🤗
I watched Pet Sematary and it was truly scary. Confusing at the beginning, but I eventually understand the story as I watched until the end. I didn't like the ending though, cliffhanging..

Recuerdo que cuando iba a la escuela primaria mis amigos hablaban de esa película, pero nunca he podido verla.
Es muy buena, claro por razones obvias te vas a dar cuenta cuando usan un tipo de utileria que ahora se vería mejor con efectos especiales, pero lo lindo es que aun con esos detalles sigue siendo una buena película del género, causando impresión. Saludos 🤗
Ufff sí, definitivamente Hitchcock es el amo del suspenso, pero Stephen King se lució con Pet Sementery, es una de las mejores películas que he visto, sobre todo me genera mucha tensión ver las expresiones faciales del niño, siendo tan pequeño resultó ser un gran actor.
Para mi la directora hizo un trabajo excelente con la obra de Stephen King, lastima que no hay más películas de ella. La elección del niño fue muy acertada. Saludos 🤗
