Three Reasons To Watch Vincenzo - The Best Revenge in Korean Dramas

Hello everyone and all members of Movies & TV Shows Community, I'm back. Like how I told you last week, I'm following Reborn Rich, the highest rated Korean drama in 2022 starring Song Jong-ki. This weekend, Reborn Rich will air its final two episodes and I'm looking forward to it. While waiting, I also want to provide recommendations for another Korean drama starring Song Jong-ki, namely Vincenzo (2021).

Vincenzo is a Korean drama that gets high ratings when broadcast on television and Netflix. The first episode of this drama aired on February 20, 2021 and the final episode aired on May 2, 2021. Vincenzo is a Korean drama that is loved by the global public (male and female) for various reasons which we will discuss. If you haven't watched it, maybe a number of reasons from me can make you try watching this drama. For friends who have watched it before, there's no harm in rewatching this drama in the middle of this week.

Vincenzo Cassano (Song Joon Ki) is a Korean by the name of Park Joo Hyung who at the age of 8 moved to Italy because he got foster parents from there. While in Italy, his adoptive parents were killed and after that he was adopted as a child by the Cassano Family, one of the big mafia families in Italy. Vincenzo Cassano worked as a consigliere, the mafia lawyer for the Cassano Family and took on an important role as the lawyer for the mafia families there.

The death of his adoptive father, who is also the leader of the Cassano Family Mafia, creates a split and determines his fate. Vincenzo does not get along with the new leader of the Cassano Family, namely Pablo who is also the biological son of his adoptive father. Vincenzo decides to run away to his hometown instead of having to be under Pablo's orders.

Vincenzo's arrival isn't just about coming home. He plans to retire early by taking 1.5 tons of gold belonging to his client, a Chinese businessman they buried at Geumga Plaza - South Korea and the businessman has died. Almost everyone who knew the fact of the gold buried in the plaza had been killed. In fact, getting the gold buried in Geumga Plaza becomes more difficult, apart from dealing with the residents of Geumga Plaza who don't want to be relocated and also the Babel Group who have bought up all the area in the area to make the Tower and are willing to use dirty and cruel means to get what they want.

A Very Entertaining Multi Genre Korean Drama

Initially, I thought Vicenzo was a Korean drama with a love triangle between the three main characters. Song Joong-Ki, Jeon Yeo-Bin, and TeaYeon especially the original poster featured the three of them. Moreover, Song-Joong-Ki often takes romantic roles. However, my expectations changed completely when I saw the burning vineyard scene in the early episode of this drama. I thought, Vincenzo is going to be a stilted drama and lots of murder scenes. Although, in my mind the premise of an Italian-mobster of Asian descent is already very funny and unique to me.

My thinking was not wrong, because the first 15 minutes were bloody moments. But after that, we will laugh a lot watching every scene from this Korean drama. So, I can say that if you want to get one complete show, Vincenzo brings you everything you need. Scenes of action, conspiracy, intrigue, massacre, revenge, very funny humor, a bit of romance make people feel at home watching 20 episodes of this drama.

Solid Cast and Optimization of All Drama Characters
Instead of being a drama with the action and crime genres, one would prefer to mention Vincenzo as a dark comedy drama wrapped in action and revenge. I also really like the chemistry built by Song Joongki and Jeon Yeon-Bin, they look very bad ass as partners in crime. Many people criticized Jeon Yeon-Bin's way of acting when playing Hong Cha-young, considered it too comical. However, I really like the way she plays that role, as a nagging, stubborn and unyielding female lawyer.

Apart from that, one of the things I like in the Vincenzo drama is the outfit or fashion choices for Hong Cha-young's character. Jeon Yeon-bin looks very beautiful and unified in all the formal outfits used. I think Hong Cha-young's clothing and selection of outfits can inspire women for formal and professional activities.

Vinzenco is also a drama that optimizes all the characters that appear in this drama. All residents of Geumga Plaza also have an amazing character backgroung which the director did not neglect.

One of my favorite characters in this drama is An Gi-Seok (played by Lim Chul-so), who works for the International Security Intelligence Agency and disguises himself as a waiter at an Italian restaurant in Geumga Plaza. He was the first to detect Vincenzo's arrival in South Korea, and turned out to be his fanboy. All the scenes are very funny and very exciting.

Best Revenge
One of the scenes that we like the most in a drama is a story about revenge or the revenge of the protagonist actor. All types of dramas or films always take this premise. It is usually the climax scene of the drama. For me, Vincenzo is one of the Korean dramas that presents the best revenge in the history of Korean dramas.

Vincenzo Cassano is told not as a god boy. He is a person who has a goal and produces all means to get what he wants. Vincenzo does not hesitate to kill, intimidate and use any means to achieve his goals. Initially, Vincenzo only wanted to get gold at Geumga Plaza in a simple and fast way. The tragic moment experienced by Vincenzo and Hong Yu-chan (Yoo Jae-Myung), a Jipuragi Law Firm lawyer with an office at Geumga Plaza and also the father of Hong Cha-young. Hong Yu-Chan died in this tragedy and Vincenzo was seriously injured. This moment became a turning point for Vincenzo and Hong Cha-young, who initially worked at the Wusang Law Firm to fight the Babel Group, which was considered responsible for this tragedy.

This moment of revenge is very satisfying for the audience. The completion of the antagonist characters is made more tragic without mercy. If in other dramas or movies, we can see antagonist characters who apologize and repent. At Vincenzo, don't expect it to happen like this, the point is that there is no moral message that we can take, only one perfect revenge.

One of my memorable scenes, when all the residents of Geumga Plaza carried out mafia-style retaliation and cooperation to suppress the opponent's maneuvers. This scene became very iconic, and became pop culture in other Korean dramas.
