The Expanse (season 2)

Here we go for the second season, with 13 episodes, which means 3 more than in the previous one !

I noticed I didn't tell you this serie is adapted from the books written by James S.A. Corey, which is the name of the association of the 2 writers Daniel Abraham and Tyler Corey Franck.

The first volume was "Leviathan Wakes" and the second is "Caliban's War". It corresponds up to now to the tv-serie. I saw there are 9 volumes written in total and the 6th season was released on Prime Video recently. So, it's not finished yet ! Lol ! 🙃

I didn't read the books, not sure I will ever do.

A team of Martian Marines is sent to Ganymede for training, but they faced an inhuman figure and most of the team was killed, except the Martian Marine Bobbie Draper who was severly wounded but alive. She had to tell what she remembered, during peace talks between Mars and Earth, but only what she was allowed to reveal. The UN Deputy Undersecretary of Executive Administration Chrisjen Avasarala detected that Bobbie kept informations secret and thus ask another interview, to get more details, she almost succeeded to, but Bobby retracted soon after.
Later on, helping each other, Bobbie and Chrisjen discovered who was behind the inhuman figure. Now, they only have to know how to stop them.
At the same time, the crew of James Holden is trying to help Dr Prax Meng, a botanist, to find his daughter May. May has a DNA sickness wich requires to take a daily treatment, given by her paedratician who took her with him, escaping when they were attacked.
James Holden and his crew encounter an "Akin" on their spaceship and killed it, sending it outside right behind the motor .. yeah ! Barbecue time !

I don't know why it's so hard for me to hang on this serie, maybe because it's rather dark in space .. I thought first the reason was that there was not enough variety in the scenario, but there is a little love story, alliances, betrayals, wars, innocents's deaths, .. Some scientists are helpful to organize hydroponing cultures when other scientists are used to create weapons ..
Those are various things already !

Knowing that I am not interested in Space, I don't notice inconsistencies as easily as my husband. For example, barrels are heavy, that's a fact for me, it's my husband that completes the sentence with "except in space because of weightlessness". Then my reaction is "Oh yeah, indeed, you're right !"

If our future is like in this serie, I don't want to live in it : there'll still be poverty, drugs, slavery .. no, not for me, not at all !

We have watched the 2 first seasons my husband Ithara watched alone 5 years ago. We go on discovering the third season together and we'll see if we keep watching. I'll keep you informed, of course.
