The new instalment of Black Panther promised much after the huge success of the first, and it does indeed live up to expectations.

After the sensitive passing of Chadwick Boseman, who played King T'Challa, director Ryan Coogler has honoured his memory with a story that deals with the grief of an entire kingdom.

The tone becomes more sombre but without losing the epic essence of the Wakandan universe.

Between poignant sequences and surprising underwater battles, it raises reflections on leadership and the identity of a people.

Angela Bassett, Letitia Wright and company shine as strong women who carry the weight of a nation on their shoulders with courage.

I also welcome the introduction of new enemy Namor and the underwater Talokan civilisation, with actors such as Tenoch Huerta bringing nuance to forgotten cultures.

Visually it dazzles as always thanks to its unique production design.

In short, it more than lives up to the legacy of its predecessor and marks a before and after in representation. Not to be missed
