This is a 2006 French film directed by 18 directors of different nationalities, e.g. the Coen brothers: Isabelle Cossette, Wes Craven, Alfonso Cuarón, Christopher Doyle, Walter Salles and Gus Van Sant.

It consists of eighteen short films that pay homage to an area of the city of Paris.

These short love stories bear each director's personal stamp and vision of eroticism, starring Natalie Portman, Elijah Wood, Nick Nolte, Juliette Binoche, Willem Dafoe, and featuring famous actors and actresses such as Bob Hoskins, Gérard Depardieu and Steve Buscemi.

Its American version, "New York, I Love You", was released in 2009 to a poor reception.

A minimalist way to reflect on the struggle of the bright side of love as well as its dark side. In Freud's words the struggle of Eros and Thanatos:
