The new version of "Cruella" captivated my senses and confirmed Disney as the king of live-action.

Under the experienced eye of Craig Gillespie, the film oozes style on all four sides in an ode to design and fashion.

Based on the character Cruella de Vil from Dodie Smith 's 1956 novel 101 Dalmatians and its 1961 Disney-produced animated film adaptation.

Emma Stone revels in the role of her career thanks to her off-the-charts charisma and her ability to convey evil.

Every costume, set and shot follows an impeccable visual language that transports you back to the London scene of the 70s.

Nicholas Britell's original soundtrack provides just the right amount of punk energy to round out the fun.

But what I appreciate most is the fresh and visceral retelling of the origin of an iconic villain with topical commentary.

A true love letter to the film medium that will set a new standard in the genre of Disney adaptations.

Undoubtedly one of the best films of 2021.

It has grossed over $233 million at the box office and won the Oscar for Best Costume Design by Jenny Beavan.
