The Little Mermaid 2023 Movie: Finally premieres this Friday -ENG / SPA-
Hello dear cinephile friends! I hope they are very well. As you know, the new version of the movie "The Little Mermaid" opens this coming Friday, and even though I don't like many things about it, which I will share below, I want to go watch it and give it a try.
¡Hola queridos amigos cinéfilos! Espero estén muy bien. Como saben, la nueva versión de la película "La Sirenita" se estrena este viernes que viene, y a pesar de que no me agradan muchas cosas respecto a ella, las cuales les compartiré a continuación, tengo ganas de ir a verla y darle una oportunidad a ver que tal.
Well, as is known, this film has been the subject of controversy due to the changes made, and the most notorious is that the protagonist is totally different from that of the animated version as she is a dark-haired actress, and I admit that I did not like it at first this change since even though those of us who grew up with the animated version are already adults, we hope it will be the same as this one, also the design of many characters in my opinion left me much to be desired, especially that of Flounder since it doesn't even look like a little to the original Flounder and I could even say that it is a bit terrifying and that of Sebastian and Scuttle, speechless. As time went by we saw trailers, posters and things like that, and in my opinion the characters that are best represented are those of Úrsula and her eels Flotsam and Jetsam, which I loved and I think that Melissa McCarthy is very good for the role.
Bueno, como es sabido esta película ha sido objeto de polémica por los cambios realizados, y la más sonada es que la protagonista sea totalmente distinta a la de la versión animada al ser una actriz morena, y reconozco que a mi al principio no me gustó este cambio ya que a pesar de que los que crecimos con la versión animada ya somos adultos esperamos que sea igual a esta, también el diseño de muchos personajes en mi opinión me dejaron mucho que desear en especial el de Flounder ya que no se parece ni un poquito al Flounder original y hasta podría decir que es un poco terrorífico y el de Sebastián y Scuttle, sin palabras. A medida que pasó el tiempo fuimos viendo trailers, posters y cosas por el estilo, y en mi opinión los personajes que mejor están representados son los de Úrsula y sus ánguilas Flotsam y Jetsam, los cuales me encantaron y me parece que Melissa McCarthy es muy buena para el papel.
Another thing that caught my attention is the choice for the actresses who will play Ariel's sisters, which really seemed very strange to me since each one is from a different race, which I find really worrying because I don't know what they are promoting there, I would like them to explain to me how King Triton (played by Javier Bardem) being a white-skinned man managed to have daughters like this, I hope they have done it to promote adoption and that they are adopted because I think it is very creepy to think that Triton got involved with 7 different women, I hope that children who know biology after watching the movie don't ask their parents questions about it because I think it would be something difficult to explain. In general, I did not have high expectations, despite the fact that I have seen in the trailers that the story is very similar to that of the animated version. I think that many characters could have been better adapted physically, although we will have to see how the acting is.
Otra cosa que me llamó la atención, es la elección para las actrices que interpretarán a las hermanas de Ariel la cual realmente me pareció muy rara al ser cada una de una de una raza diferente, lo que me parece realmente preocupante porque no se que están promoviendo allí, me gustaría que me explicaran como el Rey Tritón (interpretado por Javier Bardem) siendo un hombre de piel blanca hizo para tener hijas así, espero lo hayan hecho para promover la adopción y que sean adoptadas porque creo que es muy creepy pensar que Tritón se enredó con 7 mujeres distintas, espero que los niños que saben de biología luego de ver la película no le hagan preguntas sobre eso a sus padres ya que creo sería algo difícil de explicar. En general no tenía muchas expectativas a pesar de que he visto en los trailers que la historia se parece mucho a la de la versión animada pienso que muchos personajes pudieron haber sido mejor adaptados físicamente, aunque habrá que ver que tal la actuación.
Something that I totally loved is the soundtrack (which came out this week) since after listening to the songs from the movie I think I understand a little why Halle Bailey was chosen since I have to admit that the girl has a beautiful voice and interprets the songs in an incredible way, so in that part I am more than satisfied and it makes me have more expectations. I saw that several people justify these changes by saying "many girls want to look like their favorite characters and now the dark-haired girls will feel identified" or "this movie was made for the childhood of girls now, not ours" etc and ok, This is totally valid, but I think that this can be achieved in a better way by creating new stories with "inclusive" characters instead of changing the ones that already exist, which were very well done from years ago, and that's why they fail, I think that if instead of reusing films that are iconic and classic from all our lives, they can create innovative stories with the characters as they wish and achieve success, and that lack of creativity that they show is what makes the study go into decline, This is just my opinion as I don't want to hurt feelings with my words. I plan to go see it this Friday and see how the film really is, since I saw that it had mostly positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes so we will have to see it and get our own opinions, I expect it's not a waste of time.
Algo que me encantó totalmente es el soundtrack (el cual salió esta semana) ya que luego de escuchar las canciones de la película creo entender un poco porque Halle Bailey fue escogida ya que tengo que reconocer que la chica tiene una hermosa voz e interpreta las canciones de una manera increíble, así que en esa parte estoy mas que satisfecha y me hace tener más expectativas. Vi que varias personas justifican estos cambios al decir "muchas niñas quieren parecerse a sus personajes favoritos y ahora las niñas morenas se sentirán identificadas" o "esta película fue hecha para la infancia de las niñas de ahora, no la nuestra" etc y ok, esto es totalmente válido pero yo creo que esto se puede lograr de una mejor manera creando nuevas historias con personajes "inclusivos" en lugar de cambiar las que ya están las cuales están muy bien hechas de años atrás, y por eso es que fracasan, pienso que si en lugar de estar reutilizando películas que son icónicas y clásicas de toda nuestra vida pueden crear historias innovadoras con los personajes como les provoque y lograr tener éxito, y esa falta de creatividad que demuestran es la que hace que el estudio vaya en declive, esta es solo mi opinión ya que no quiero herir sentimientos con mis palabras. Pienso ir a verla este viernes y ver que tal es la película realmente, ya que vi que tuvo críticas mayormente positivas de Rotten Tomatoes así que habrá que verla y sacar nuestras propias opiniones, yo espero no sea pérdida de tiempo.

Sabemos que la ejecución de la peli (fotografía, actuaciones, vestuario, sountrack, etc) estará muy bien (de ahí la crítica positiva en Rotten Tomatoes pero las decisiones "progress" para politizar una película que siendo remake hace que las generaciones pasadas nos sintamos inconformes no esta bien y es de allí la queja de la mayoría. Los niños de hoy consumen otro tipo de entretenimiento, este está hecho para niños que hoy días son adultos y bueno, se habla mucho de la reacción de las niñas negras diciendo "es como yo" cuando es más que obvio que los videos están preparados y que lejos de normalizar el tema de las razas con eso seguimos separándolas, pero poco se habla de las niñas que pensaron que las estaban trolleando porque esa no era Ariel o a las niñas pelirrojas (que literalmente son menos que las niñas de raza negra) llorando por que Ariel ya no se parece a ellas.
Es tan estúpido literalmente quitar la representación de las pelirrojas de la pantalla por poner una chica negra cuando los negros son más que los pelirrojos, pero bueno, Disney y su política barata que algunos compran. Muy buen post y de acuerdo con tu opinión 😊

Estoy totalmente de acuerdo con lo que dices, ahora también falta que hagan una versión de Valiente con una princesa Mérida morena y la defiendan con la misma política, sin importar que la historia se desarrolle en un pais en el que la gente es blanca y pelirroja🤣😂🤣 creo que sería mas convincente su politica barata si en lugar de dañar los remakes sacaran nuevas historias con nuevos personajes con la apariencia que les provoque y así todos felices jajajaja de verdad espero que la pelicula valga la pena!
