Hi Hiveians! A couple days ago, I finished drawing a portrait of Mirabel Madrigal! She is the main character from the Walt Disney movie "Encanto".

The drawing took me about 3 days, during the process I learned a lot about my new colored pencils and using them over the chalk. The chalk is used under surfaces that need to be filled with colors other than just white. I used it on her hair, skin and wreath. When you smooth out the chalk, it looks more natural and satisfying than if you only used the colored pencils under it.

First, I drew the outline of Mirabel with just pencils.

Then, I used chalk on her skin, hair and blue earnings and smoothed them out with the q-tips. You can also just use your finger if you like though. 🙂

It might look a bit messy, but next we'll use the colored pencils to do the highlights and shadows (the shading).

While I did that, my mom was sneaky and took a photo of me and sent it to my grandma hehe. 😄
