Glorious | A Bathroom, a Man, a God, a Glory Hole

Following the habit of watching movies with only the knowledge of its name, I decided to watch Glorious, and I think it was one of the best decisions because I didn't know what to expect, I didn't know what I was going to see, and honestly, I would have expected anything else, except what I saw. It's going to be very hard not to make spoilers, the movie is simple, straightforward, and compact, so talking too much about it would be telling it all, and no, that's not the idea, so I'll try to avoid that here.

Glorius is going to give us a very particular scenario, a man, Wes, finds himself at a rest stop in the middle of nowhere after breaking up with his girlfriend, after a night full of alcohol and a huge bonfire where he ends up burning even his pants, Wes goes into the bathroom to vomit all his regrets and the rest is history, he learns that he can't get out of there, the strange voice he hears in one of the cubicles is that of a god, and that the universe has a favor to ask of him. All completely normal, of course, it is, and I love her for being that way.

Siguiendo la costumbre de ver películas con solo el conocimiento de su nombre, decidí ver Glorious, y creo que fue una de las mejores decisiones, porque no sabía qué esperar, no sabía qué iba a ver, y sinceramente, hubiera esperado cualquier otra cosa, menos lo que vi. Va a ser muy difícil no hacer spoilers, la película es simple, sencilla, compacta, por lo que hablar mucho de ella sería contarla toda y no, no es la idea, así que trataré de evitar eso aquí.

Glorius nos va a dar un escenario muy particular, un hombre, Wes, se encuentra en una parada de descanso en medio de la nada después de haber terminado con su novia, después de una noche llena de alcohol y una fogata inmensa donde termina quemando hasta sus pantalones, Wes entra al baño para vomitar todos sus remordimientos y el resto es historia, se entera de que no puede salir de ahí, la voz extraña que escucha en uno de los cubículos es la de un dios, y que el universo tiene un favor que pedirle. Todo completamente normal, claro que sí, y la amo por ser así.

The fact that Wes is locked in the bathroom and the whole movie takes place there I loved it, I mean, I had a long time without seeing a movie that took place in one place, and it was wonderful, simply exquisite, it relaxed me too much and I enjoyed it like you have no idea. Also, J. K. Simmons doing the voice of the god in the bathroom was something I didn't expect, I had a hard time recognizing the voice, but when I did I laughed too much, especially because of the timing.

For me this movie is very weird, well, the film itself is weird but weird in a good way, not in a wrong way. It's horror, yes, but it's a very diluted terror, a universal, existential terror, I don't know, it's been a long time since movies stopped scaring me, at least almost no movie does it, and although this movie manages to be intense at times, it doesn't achieve it at all, or at least it didn't achieve it with me, because although the situation we are in, in the middle of nowhere, in a bathroom, talking to god, is hard to believe, we do it, and since it is not something that convinces us from the beginning, we are in trouble when it comes to feeling terror. I wasn't going to feel it anyway because I was enjoying everything I was seeing too much to feel fear.

El hecho de que Wes se haya quedado encerrado en el baño y toda la película transcurra ahí me encantó, o sea, tenía mucho tiempo sin ver una película que tenía lugar en un solo sitio, y fue maravilloso, simplemente exquisito, me relajó demasiado y lo disfruté como no tienen idea. Además, J. K. Simmons haciendo la voz del dios que se encuentra en el baño fue algo que no esperaba, me costó reconocer la voz, pero cuando lo hice me reí demasiado, especialmente por el momento en el que lo hice.

Para mí esta película es muy rara, bueno, la película en sí es rara, pero rara de bueno, no de malo. Es de terror, sí, pero es un terror muy diluído, un terror universal, existencial, no sé, hace mucho tiempo que las películas dejaron de darme miedo, al menos casi ninguna película lo logra, y si bien esta película logra ser intensa por momentos, no lo logra del todo, o al menos no lo logró conmigo, pues si bien la situación en la que estamos, en medio de la nada, en un baño, hablando con dios, es algo que cuesta creer, pero lo hacemos, y como no es algo que nos convenza desde un principio, estamos en problemas al momento de sentir terror. Igual yo no lo iba a sentir porque estaba disfrutando demasiado todo lo que estaba viendo como para ponerme a sentir miedo.

One of the things that the film plays with a lot, which I loved, is the door that we have to open to get to know Wes, and that is the relationship with Brenda. We know nothing and we know everything at the same time, we know that he misses her, that he loves her, and that he suffers from being separated from her, but we don't know why they broke up, we only know that it was recently, and from there, Ghat, our god, will begin to chip away at Wes' existence little by little, until we get to know him well enough to understand why he's in the situation he's in, and believe me, that moment when we learn the truth is going to be wonderful, it's going to be horrible, I didn't know how to feel, because it's something that even though it's built up little by little, no, it still hurts.

The comedy is something that is not going to be missing here, and it is something that I loved that they showed in the trailer, because yes, Wes has to satisfy the physical form of the god to help him in whatever the universe is asking him, and you tell me, you are in a bathroom that has a glory hole, how else can Wes satisfy Ghat's physical form? I remember it and it gives me too much laughter, the irony of such a situation is irremediable, and just for that reason, I ask you to watch the movie, because it is very likely that you will enjoy it, and so you can find out if this physical satisfaction happens as we think or not.

Una de las cosas con las que juega mucho la película, que amé, pues es la puerta que tenemos que abrir para poder conocer a Wes, y es la realación con Brenda. No sabemos nada y sabemos todo a la vez, sabemos que la extraña, que la ama, y que sufre por estar separado de ella, pero no sabemos por qué terminaron, solo sabemos que fue recientemente, y a partir de ahí, Ghat, nuestro dios, comenzará a desmenuzar la existencia de Wes poco a poco, hasta que lo llegamos a conocer lo suficiente como para entender por qué está en la situación en la que se encuentra, y creanme, ese momento en el que nos enteraremos de la verdad va a ser maravilloso, va a ser horrible, yo no sabía cómo sentirme, pues es algo que si bien se construyó poco a poco, no, igual duele.

La comedia es algo que no va a faltar aquí, y es algo que amé que mostraran en el trailer, pues sí, Wes tiene que satisfacer la forma física del dios para poder ayudarlo en lo que sea que le está pidiendo el universo, y ya me dirán ustedes, están en un baño que tiene un glory hole, ¿de qué otra forma puede Wes satisfacer la forma física de Ghat? Lo recuerdo y me da demasiada risa, la iriona de tal situación es irremediable, y solo por eso les pido que vean la película, pues es muy probable que la disfruten, y así puedan enterarse si esa satisfacción física ocurre como pensamos o no.

Yes, I would watch this movie again just to laugh and revel in its simple and exquisite horror. One of the things that surprised me the most about the movie were the special effects, I mean, they looked real enough for me to believe them, it was incredible, from the beginning I thought the special effects were going to be total garbage that would ruin the movie, but no, it was better than I expected, I mean, we will see stars, nebulae, outer space and it is incredible, it looks better than I would have expected, the truth, the same with the effects when showing us Ghat's physical form, it is impressive, I would have shown them, but no, you have to see the movie, besides I didn't get pictures of those moments.

This trailer is perfect, it sells the movie for what it is, something simple and fun that has moments of terror, existentialism, comedy, blood, lots of blood, and that's it, I liked the trailer, I love the movie, it's something you can watch with tranquility without the mental pressure of constantly concentrating to try to understand what is going on, well no, everything is explained very well from the beginning and all we have to do is have fun and enjoy it.

Sí, volvería a ver esta película solo para volver a reírme y deleitarme en su terror simple y exquisito. Una de las cosas que más me sorprendío de la película fueron los efectos especiales, o sea, se vieron lo suficientemente reales como para que me los creyera, fue increíble, desde un principió creí que los efectos especiales iban a ser una basura total que arruinaría la película, pero no, fue mejor de lo que esperaba, es decir, veremos estrellas, nebulosas, el espacio exterior y es increíble, se ve mejor de lo que hubiera esperado, la verdad, igual con los efectos al mostrarnos la forma física de Ghat, es impresionante, se los hubiera mostrado, pero no, tienen que ver la película, además de que no conseguí fotos de esos momentos.

Este trailer está perfecto, te vende la película como lo que es, algo simple y divertido que tiene momentos de terror, de existencialismo, de comedia, de sangre, mucha sangre, y ya, me gustó mucho el trailer, amo la película, es algo que se puede ver con traquilidad si la presión mental de estar concentrándose constantemte para tratar de entender qué es lo que sucede, pues no, todo nos lo explican muy bien desde un principio y lo único que tenemos que hacer es divertirnos y disfrutarlo.
