The Blackening | Really, bitch? A cabin in the woods?
This was one of the movies I watched last week while I was dying of fever without eating for almost five days, and I can say that it made the suffering more passable, I didn't laugh as much as I would have liked because the little energy I had wasn't even enough for that, but now that I'm remembering the movie as I write this I'm laughing too much, the whole movie is a meme that came to life and there is no one to stop it, it is simply too chaotic to even try to regulate it, what needs to happen happens, what needs to be said is said, and you only have two choices, laugh, or stop watching it, because otherwise you are just going to waste your time watching this movie.
This movie feels like it's a parody of a serial movie, a movie I haven't seen, if anyone recognizes any semblance of it, let me know, because it's too epic not to watch. Esta fue una de las películas que vi la semana pasaba mientras estaba muriendo de fiebre sin comer por casi cinco días, y puedo decir que hizo el sufrimiento más pasable, no me reí todo lo que hubiera querido porque la poca energía que tenía ni siquiera me alcanzaba para eso, pero ahora que estoy recordando la película mientras escribo esto me estoy riendo demasiado, la película completa es un meme que cobró vida y no hay nadie que lo detenga, es simplemente demasiado caótica como para siquiera intentar regularla, pasa lo que tiene que pasar, se dice lo que se tiene que decir, y solo tienes dos opciones, reírte, o dejar de verla, porque si no, solo vas a perder el tiempo viendo esta película.
Esta película se siente como si fuera una parodia de una película serie, película que no he visto, si alguien llega a reconocer alguna semblanza, me lo dice, porque es demasiado épico como para no verla. Aquí un grupo de amigos finalmente se reunen después de mucho tiempo y deciden pasar el tiempo tomando alcohol, drogándose, y jugando, solo que va a ser una cabaña en un bosque, y como toda película estereotipada, aquí también habrá un asesino que les hará la vida imposible, sobre todo porque usará un juego de mesa donde todas las preguntas tienen que ver con personas negras, y llegará un punto donde se llegarán a preguntar qué tan negros de verdad son, cosa que solo me da más risa cada vez que lo recuerdo, en fin, de eso trata la película, que tiene uno de los giros en la trama más predecibles y aburridos en la historia, pero eso no hace que deje de dar menos risa todo lo que sucede.
Shanika and Dewayne were my favorite characters, the gay one and the fat one, they each had a comment from you know where that caused me existential crises and laughs to the death, as you will see in the trailer, when they say they have to choose the person who is the blackest among them, and Dewayne says they can't choose him because he is gay, I laugh my ass off at that, because he's just perpetuating the stereotype that being gay makes him less black, well something he has to be ashamed of, and it's even more laughable because he's just saying it to avoid getting killed, it still stops being laughable when it's explained why it's laughable, but I don't care, it's laughable and I explain it and it makes me laugh even more.
One of the things I didn't like, which wasn't the ending, I'll talk about that later, was that they didn't decide what to do with the movie, the mixture of comedy and horror is very good, too good, but the moment they put other elements, which I won't mention, they ruined everything, and that's what they did here, I also understand that they did it as a social critic, which ruins the film, but it gives a much greater meaning to what happens, leaving entertainment aside and facing something very present even today, where black people are sometimes the most racist that can exist, just as there are women who are more sexist than men, but that's what we talk about later.
Shanika y Dewayne fueron mis personajes favoritos, el gay y la gorda, cada uno se sacaba un comentario de ya saben donde qué me causaban crisis existenciales y risas a morir, como verán en el trailer, cuando dicen que tiene que elegir a la persona que sea más negra entre ellos, y Dewayne dice que no lo pueden elergir a él porque es gay, me muero de risa con eso, porque solo está perpetuando el estereotipo de que ser gay lo hace menos negro, pues algo de lo que tiene que avergonzarse, y da más risa porque solo lo está diciendo para evitar que lo maten, igual deja de dar risa cuando se explica por qué da risa, pero no me importa, me da risa y lo explico y me da más risa aún.
Una de las cosas que no me gustaron, que no fue el final, de eso hablo después, fue que no se decidieron en qué hacer con la película, la mezcla de comedia y terror está muy bien, demasiado bien, pero en el momento en el que meten otros elementos, que no voy a mencionar, arruinaron todo, y eso fue lo que hicieron aquí, entiendo también que lo hayan hecho como crítica social, cosa que arruina la película, pero le da un significado mucho mayor a lo que sucede, dejando el entretenimiento de lado y enfrentando algo muy presente aún hoy en día, donde las personas negras a veces son las más racistas que pueden existir, al igual que hay mujeres que son más machistas que los hombres, pero de eso se habla después.
The ending was horrible, well, it wasn't horrible, but I didn't like it, at least while I was dying of fever I didn't like it, maybe if I see it again I will like it, but I don't want to see it again, here thinking about it, I say I didn't like it, but it is good, because although the plot twist makes the movie serious, it is something that needed to be done so that not everything was a stereotype based on existing prejudices, it was like one of the best options to end the story.
The performances are decent, the music is decent, everything is decent, it is not one of those movies that blows your mind with what is happening, it is just perfect to laugh for a while, at least if you understand what they are saying, because sometimes it seems that they speak a language of completely different meanings, and if you are not informed, you will not understand anything, many of the jokes and comments are situational, so by themselves they can not be understood, but once you understand the context everything makes sense and it is impossible to stop laughing.
El final fue horrible, bueno, no fue horrible, pero no me gustó, al menos mientras moría de fiebre no me gustó, quizás si la vuelvo a ver sí me guste, pero no quiero volver a verla, aquí pensándolo, digo que no me gustó, pero sí es bueno, porque si bien el giro en la trama vuelve seria la película, es algo que se necesitó hacer para que no todo fuera un estereotipo basado en prejuicios ya existentes, fue como una de las mejores opciones de terminar la historia.
Las actuaciones son decentes, la música es decente, todo es decente, no es una película de esas que te vuelan la cabeza con lo que está pasando, solo es perfecta para reirse un rato, al menos si entiendes lo que están diciendo, porque a veces pareciera que hablan un idioma de significados completamente diferentes, y si no están informados, no van a entender nada, muchos de los chistes y comentarios son situacionales, así que por sí solos no pueden llegar a entenderse, pero una vez entienden el contexto todo cobra sentio y es imposible dejar de reírse.
The trailer is perfect because it says a lot, and yet, it says nothing, which is very rare, because either they say nothing without saying anything, or they say everything and completely ruin the movie, if the trailer doesn't make you laugh, don't watch the movie, because it will be more of the same, there is no other way. Now I really want to see it again so I can have a good laugh, it is that the mental maturity of the film is null, and there are much more situations of couples, friendship, problems with interpersonal relationships and how it influences us as people, and so on, but as that is the serious part of the film and that was what I did not like much when I saw it, I will not talk about that, but it is well developed, it is decent.
El trailer es perfecto porque dice mucho, y aún así, no dice nada, cosa que es muy raro, porque o dicen nada sin decir nada, o dicen todo y arruinan por completo la película, si el trailer no les da risa, no vean la película, porque va a ser más de lo mismo, no hay de otra. Ahora sí quiero verla de nuevo para poder reírme bien, es que de verdad la madurez mental de la película es nula, y hay mucho más situaciones de pareja, de amistad, problemas con la relaciones interpersonales y cómo influye en nosotros como personas, y así, pero como esa es la parte seria de la película y que fue lo que no me gustó mucho cuando la vi, no hablaré de eso, pero está bien desarrollado, es decente.
