The Tale of The Princess Kaguya | Not a happy story but a true one

This movie surprised me from the beginning, and the peanuts I'm eating still taste like cinnamon, it still tastes weird, but I started to like it. I wasn't expecting it to be from Ghibli, but seeing that it was I was already mentally preparing myself to see a movie that was either going to make me very happy or very sad, and this movie is a whirlwind of emotions that kept me smiling and on the verge of tears at the same time, there was no middle ground, they made me laugh and smile, but indemadiamantly they threatened to make me cry and at some point, they succeeded.

This movie narrates the life of a little girl who was found in a shiny bamboo stalk, an old bamboo cutter and his wife are the ones who will take care of her, to turn her into the princess they say she was born to be. We will laugh a lot watching this movie, but little by little the movie will stop laughing and will create an infinite concern about what is happening and the fate of the princess will be our biggest worry.

Esta película me sorprendió desde el principio; y el maní que estoy comiendo sigue teniendo sabor a canela, sigue sabiendo raro, pero me comenzó a gustar. No esperaba que fuera de Ghibli, pero al ver que así era ya me estaba preparando mentalmente para ver una película que me iba a hacer muy feliz o muy triste, y esta película es un remolino de emociones que me mantuvieron con una sonrisa y al borde de las lágrimas a la vez, no hubo punto medio, me hacían reir y sonreír, pero indemadiamante me amenazaban con hacerme llorar y en algún punto lo lograron.

Esta película narra la vida de una niña que fue encontrada en un tallo de bambú brillante, un viejo cortador de bambú y su esposa son quienes se encancargarán de cuidar de ella, de convertirla en la princesa que dicen que nació para ser. Nos vamos reír demasiado viendo esta película, pero poco a poco la película derjará de dar risa y nos creará una preocupación infinita sobre lo que está sucediendo y el destino de la princesa será nuestra mayor preocupación.

I can't talk about this movie without saying many things, things that will surely be considered spoilers, so do not continue reading and leave this post if you wish, because this is not a happy story, this story does not have a happy ending, nothing will change that, and since that will not change, it is impossible for me to never mention it, and based on that is why I am writing this review.

I expected it to be a happy movie, that was what the beginning of the movie was telling me, but even in the first minutes we are given to understand with small details and scenes that things are not going to be like that, that everything is going to change, and when that fact is confirmed, it is just the beginning of our suffering, we just don't know for sure, because those changes are made for good, or at least that is what is expected to happen with those changes, but now, things are not going to turn out like that.

Es imposible para mí hablar de esta película sin decir muchas cosas, cosas que seguramente van a considerar spoiler, así que no sigan leyendo y dejen esta publicación si así lo desean, porque esta no es una historia feliz, esta historia no tiene un final feliz, nada va a cambiar eso, y como eso no va a cambiar, es imposible para mí no mencionarlo nunca, y en base a eso es que estoy escribiendo esta reseña.

Yo la verdad sí esperaba que fuera una película feliz, eso era lo que me inicaba el inicio de la película, pero incluso en los primeros minutos nos dan a entender con pequeños detalles y escenas que las cosas no van a ser así, que todo va a cambiar, y cuando ese hecho es confirmado, es tan solo el inicio de nuestro sufrimiento, solo que no lo sabemos con certeza, porque esos cambios se hacen para bien, o al menos es lo que se espera que suceda con esos cambios, pero no, las cosas no van a resultar así.

This movie teaches us countless lessons, so many that you would have to watch it many times to understand them all. The worst thing is that I can't tell you them because they would be spoilers, but I can talk about only one, and it is gigantic. Princess Kaguya just wanted to live, she was born on earth in a stalk of bamboo as a result of a miracle, she did not want to live locked up in a mansion waiting to receive marriage proposals everywhere, feeling that they are suffocating her and taking away her autonomy, her freedom, her right to be and to exist as a person with the same rights as the rest.

One thing I can say is that I hate her father, that old bamboo cutter who found her, I hate him so much that it only makes me sad and makes me want to cry, I have said this many times, the road to hell is made of good intentions because even if you think you are doing it with the best intentions in the world, the result can be a very different one, we have no control on how the other person is going to react, and here he has practically absolute power over the princess, and although he believes he is doing all this for her good, no, it is not so, it will never be so, but he does not listen, he never listens to her, only until it is too late and nothing can be changed, no matter how much they pray, when they cry, how much they pray.

Esta película nos da incontables lecciones, tanto así que habría que verla muchas veces para poder entenderlas todas. Lo peor es que no se las puedo decir porque serían spoiler, pero sí puedo hablar de una sola, y es gigante. La Princesa Kaguya solo quería vivir, nació en la tierra en un tallo de bambó producto de un milagro, ella no quería vivir encerrada en una mansión esperando recibir propuestas de matrimonio por doquier, sientiendo que la asfixian y le quitan su autonomía, su libertad, si derecho de ser y de existir como una persona individual y con los mismos derechos que el resto.

Algo que sí puedo decir, es que odio a su padre, a ese viejo cortador de bambú que la encontró, lo odio tanto que solo me da tristeza y ganas de llorar, esto ya lo he dicho muchas veces, el camino al infierno está hecho de buenas intenciones, pues aunque se crea que se está haciendo con las mejores intenciones del mundo, el resultado puede ser uno muy diferente, no tenemos control sobre cómo va a reaccionar la otra persona, y aquí él tiene practicamente poder absoluto sobre la princesa, y aunque él cree que está haciendo todo eso por su bien, no, no es así, nunca será así, per ono escucha, nunca la escucha, solo hasta que es muy tarde y nada se puede cambiar, sin importar cuánto rogen, cuando lloren, cuanto oren.

No matter how much you suffer watching this movie you will love it, there is no other way, we cannot feel anything else towards it, it is too cute, special, and the way it is told is very peculiar, it is rarely seen, besides the animation is perfect for the kind of story that is being told, I can't imagine it with a different kind of animation, there are many moments where the characters become mere spots of color and I haven't seen that for a long time, I liked to see that here.

Watch the trailer, it's a beautiful, precious thing, that without dialogue, just music, tells us a little bit of what the movie is about because it's too hard to talk about this movie without telling you the ending or telling you the truth behind everything that is happening, it was horrible for me to write this keeping a thousand comments I have inside that want to come out, but no, you have to respect the fact that people don't like spoilers, no matter how ridiculous you think that is.

Por más que sufran viendo esta película la van a amar, no hay de otra, no podemos sentir otra cosa hacia ella, es demasiado linda, especial, y la forma que está contada es muy peculiar, se ve pocas veces, además de que la animación es perfecta para el tipo de historia que se está contando, no la puedo imaginar con un tipo de animación diferente, hay muchos momentos donde los personajes llegan a converirse en meras manchas de color y tenía mucho tiempo que no veía eso, me gustó demasiado ver eso aquí.

Vean el trailer, es una cosa hermosa, preciosa, que sin diálogo, solo música, nos cuenta un poco de lo que trata la película, porque es demasiado difícil hablar de esta película sin contarles el final ni decirles la verdad detrás de todo lo que está sucediendo, fue horrible para mí escribir esto guardándome los mil comentarios que tengo por dentro que quieren salir, pero no, hay que respetar el hecho de que a la gente no le gustan los spoilers, sin importar que te parezca ridículo eso.
