Por acá seguimos poniéndonos al día con todas estas películas que salieron en esta temporada de Halloween que si mal recuerdo ha sido de las más movidas en lo que a estrenos de films se refiere. También decir que la mayoría de las películas vistas cumplieron mínimamente con las expectativas, alguna no destaca tanto pero en general fue una buena lista de films las que disfrutamos. En esta oportunidad le tocó el turno a esta adaptación del famoso videojuego de la infancia de muchos, que hay que tener cuidado cuando se habla de esto porque son pocas las que han funcionado en el cine. Yo no fui fanático de este juego, de hecho si lo jugué par de veces fue mucho pero por lo visto en el film y lo poco que recuerdo creo que estamos ante una buena adaptación, por lo menos una que se acerca bastante.
Over here we continue to catch up with all these movies that came out this Halloween season, which if I remember correctly has been one of the busiest in terms of film releases. We can also say that most of the movies we saw met our expectations, some of them didn't stand out so much but in general it was a good list of films that we enjoyed. This time it was the turn of this adaptation of the famous video game of the childhood of many, which we must be careful when talking about this because there are few that have worked in the cinema. I was not a fan of this game, in fact if I played it a couple of times it was a lot but from what I saw in the film and the little I remember I think we are facing a good adaptation, at least one that is close enough.
Pero claro, a medida que vamos viendo la película nos vamos preguntando, esto es terror?, esto es un thriller psicológico? o simplemente es un drama con unas pinceladas de suspenso? - y la respuesta es un poco de todas las anteriores, por lo menos así lo percibí. Es extraño porque este film es PG-13, ya que tiene mucho, o quizás no tanto gore, violencia y sangre. La realidad es que si nos basamos en el juego nada de este terror sangriento es tan real, si existe pero no al nivel de lo que esperaba las personas con esta película. Pero bueno, vayamos y hablemos un poco de que va este nuevo título y que nos traen estas criaturas que de amigables tal parece que tienen poco.

It's strange because this film is PG-13, as it has a lot, or maybe not so much gore, violence and blood. The reality is that if we go by the game none of this gory horror is that real, yes it exists but not to the level of what people expected with this film. But well, let's go and talk a little bit about what this new title is about and what these creatures bring us, which seem to have little in the way of friendliness.

Este film comienza con la vida de Mike Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson) un hombre que ha sido muy problemático a lo largo de su historial laboral, nunca ha sido constante en ningún trabajo producto de algunos traumas de su pasado que todavía están ahí para perturbar. Debido a su situación económica y familiar no le queda más remedio que aceptar un puesto de trabajo el cual no es el mejor del mundo debido a los antecedentes del mismo, ser el agente de seguridad en el turno nocturno de la pizzería Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, un lugar que era todo alegría y diversión y que de aquello queda muy poco. La particularidad de aquel sitio es que tenían animales animatrónicos que animaban las fiestas y que después de los años siguen siendo los protagonistas.
This film begins with the life of Mike Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson) a man who has been very troubled throughout his work history, he has never been consistent in any job product of some traumas from his past that are still there to disturb. Due to his economic and family situation he has no choice but to accept a job which is not the best in the world due to his background, being the security agent on the night shift at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a place that was all joy and fun and that there is very little left of it. The particularity of that place is that they had animatronic animals that animated the parties and that after the years are still the protagonists.
Pasan las noches y Mike religiosamente va a su trabajo, cargando como dije con unos traumas que durante la trama tratará de ir resolviendo. En una de las noches se percata que no está solo en aquel restaurante, entre tanta oscuridad empiezan a escucharse sonidos, el ambiente se torna pesado e incomodo y lo que parecía ser un trabajo sencillo se convierte en una pesadilla. Estas mascotas con aspecto infantil pero al mismo tiempo increíblemente aterradoras cobran vida y se mimetizan con el horroroso lugar. Acá es cuando comienza la "aventura" de Mike por tratar de sobrevivir todas las noches al mismo tiempo que busca resolver sucesos de su pasado que no lo dejan avanzar.
The nights go by and Mike religiously goes to work, carrying as I said some traumas that during the plot he will try to solve. In one of the nights he realizes that he is not alone in that restaurant, among so much darkness sounds begin to be heard, the atmosphere becomes heavy and uncomfortable and what seemed to be a simple job becomes a nightmare. These childish-looking but at the same time incredibly terrifying pets come to life and mimic the horrifying place. This is when Mike's "adventure" begins as he tries to survive every night while trying to resolve events from his past that keep him from moving forward.

Esta trama tiene dos aspectos importantes, el psicológico y el del propio terror. El primero se da porque la vida completa de Mike gira en torno a traumas no superados de su pasado, a él le ocurre una tragedia siendo un niño la cual no ha podido dejar atrás y eso dicta un poco el como es él en la actualidad. Lo cool de todo es que eso se combina con lo que pasa en aquel restaurante, todo parece tener una conexión siniestra de la que pronto Mike se dará cuenta. Esto para mi le da mucha vida a la trama porque crea un contexto importante del por qué de muchas cosas que verán y que suceden, además de que hay un poco más de profundidad en la historia; no es tan vacía como se piensa.
This plot has two important aspects, the psychological and the horror itself. The first is because Mike's whole life revolves around unresolved traumas from his past, a tragedy happened to him as a child which he has not been able to leave behind and that dictates a little of what he is like today. The cool thing is that this is combined with what happens in that restaurant, everything seems to have a sinister connection that Mike will soon realize. This to me adds a lot of life to the plot because it creates an important context as to why a lot of things you will see and what happens, plus there is a little more depth to the story; it's not as empty as you might think.
En cuanto al terror, bueno, no es una película que particularmente de miedo, por lo menos no fue mi caso por lo que esa "carencia", si es que aplica ese término, es cubierta por otras cosas. Hay un importante thriller psicológico que se desprende de la vida de Mike, esas escenas generan ansiedad e incertidumbre lo que despierta la intriga en el espectador. Hay también una especie de drama por todo lo que Mike tiene que vivir con su hermana menor, Abby y el suspenso que no puede faltar porque si, cuando se está dentro de aquel restaurante hay cierta tensión, no muy fuerte, pero si lo suficiente para estar un poco atentos al próximo movimiento de estas "mascotas".
As for the horror, well, it's not a particularly scary movie, at least it wasn't for me, so that "lack", if that term applies, is covered by other things. There is an important psychological thriller that comes out of Mike's life, those scenes generate anxiety and uncertainty which awakens intrigue in the viewer. There is also a kind of drama for all that Mike has to live with his younger sister, Abby and the suspense that can not miss because yes, when you are inside that restaurant there is some tension, not very strong, but enough to be a little attentive to the next move of these "pets".

Hay un poco de gore y sangre pero para nada explicito, nunca se va a ver totalmente lo que pasa, la intención la dejan un poco a la imaginación por lo que las personas sensibles a estas cosas no deberían de preocuparse por eso. En cuanto a los personajes tenemos dos protagonistas, Mike y Abby (Piper Rubio), son la cara de este film. En lo personal no tengo nada que decir porque no fueron actuaciones relevantes, para que un personaje atrape tiene que crear una conexión con el espectador y este caso no fue sí. Y esto lo digo a pesar de los traumas de Mike, que si, en las escenas de sufrimiento mental si las interpreta bien o por lo menos de manera decente. Abby en cambio es la niña que ha absorbido todos esos traumas del hermano y le toca vivir como puede, muy básica también pero tampoco estuvo mal.
There is a bit of gore and blood but not at all explicit, you will never fully see what happens, the intention is left to the imagination so people sensitive to these things should not worry about it. As for the characters we have two main characters, Mike and Abby (Piper Rubio), they are the face of this film. Personally I have nothing to say because they were not relevant performances, for a character to catch you have to create a connection with the viewer and this case was not yes. And I say this despite Mike's traumas, that yes, in the scenes of mental suffering he plays them well or at least decently. Abby on the other hand is the girl who has absorbed all those traumas of the brother and she has to live as she can, very basic too but it was not bad either.
A esta película la critica especializada la mató pero la del público en general si es bastante alta, yo le doy un 7.5/10 porque me gustó mucho el trasfondo de estas criaturas con todo lo que tiene que ver con la historia familiar de Mike, ese toque hizo que la película no fuera un autentico fracaso, aunque en parte ya eso lo sabíamos. Si la recomiendo, es una buena opción, es un buen film de terror/suspenso/drama/thriller psicológico; un 4 en 1. Tiene una duración de un poco menos de dos horas. I give it a 7.5/10 because I really liked the background of these creatures with everything that has to do with Mike's family history, that touch made the film not to be a real failure, although we already knew that in part. If I recommend it, it is a good option, it is a good horror/suspense/drama/psychological thriller; a 4 in 1. It has a duration of a little less than two hours.
